This private museum is located in the beautiful village of Malèves (city of Perwez) in the former stables of the family farm. It presents the history of the World War II in the Perwez area. The periods of the 1940 invasion, the occupation and the 1944 liberation are presented as seen on a local scale. The collection consists of several thousand objects as well as more than forty mannequins arranged in little scenes in order to place the material in the context of the war period. Civilian objects also adds to this material to remember the difficulties endured by them during the last world war. Showcases are also visible to submit documents and small antique artefacts. Pictures documents and archive movies complete the visit.

Just outside of Brusells, continue the celebration of cartoons at the Herge Musee (Herge Museum). The museum is dedicated to the creator of Tintin, following him and his life, including his personal experiences.
Belgium, being cartoonists heaven shows proudly its heritage here and there. So does the futuristic building containing the Hergémuseeum outside Brussels. A short trip by train, a short walk and you are about to see incredible sketches as well as getting to know the highly regarded man behind the images. A significant moment for Tintin-lovers.

Buried at the foot of the Lion's Mound, the Memorial of the battle of Waterloo 1815 enables you to to experience one of the most turbulent times in our History... as if you were there. Dive into the heart of the battle, in a multi-sensory experience, full of special effects, the only one of its kind in Europe! 1815 m² of immersive journeying in a narrative set design which focuses on the experience of the battle! The Panorama is an impressive fresco with a circumference of 110 m and a height of 12 m, made in 1912. The painting puts you at the heart of the battle thanks to an impressive sound system. The Lion's Mound offers a unique view of the battlefield after a memorable ascent of 226 steps! As last authentic witness of the battle, the Barn of Hougoumont features a brand-new scenography made of 4 exhibition rooms as well as an impressive multimedia show.
I'm glad to have traveled to Waterloo during my trip to Belgium. To have visited the Memorial Waterloo 1815 as well as the Wellington Museum was a great opportunity to re-learn history. The exhibits, immersive scenery and what they call "multi-sensory" experience and the interactive trail make this memorial museum a must-visit and worth the bus trip from Brussels to Waterloo. I also had the opportunity to go up the Lion's Mound and watch their canon-firing reenactment (I'm not sure if it is a year-round attraction or just for June for the anniversary). If there were more time, I would have loved to visit the other three attractions included in the pass I bought. It included Memorial Waterloo, Musee Wellington, Napoleon's House and Mont St Jean. But if one is short for time, I think the best place is to see the Memorial and Lion's Mound!

Quiet, a museum ? Not in Louvain-la-Neuve, where the Museum L makes artworks talk to each other : a Buddha next to a medieval Christ, ancient writings alongside calculating machines... The UCLouvain museum, with 20.000 items in its collection, explores some new and unusual encounters that tell us about the world and our humanity. Art works are not the only thing on display: the museum also presents the UCLouvain’s scientific collections. Natural history specimens, archaeological and ethnographic objects and scientific inventions are all on show in 2,600 m² of exhibition space at the heart of a building that is a landmark of modern Belgian architecture. Museum L is not like other museums: it is a place of living dialogue and exciting discovery.

This museum is situated in the former stagecoach station where the Duke of Wellington stayed on the nights of 17 and 18 June 1815. You can still visit the Duke's bedroom, the office where he wrote his victory report, and his aide-de-camp's bedroom. Various other rooms have been dedicated, each to an army, including authentic documents, etchings, weapons and souvenirs of the various nations that took part in the combat. There is also an impressive collection of rare weapons, such as "la Suffisante", a cannon manufactured in Douai, France in 1813 and abandoned on the battlefield. Each round weight 6 lbs. Your individual ticket for entry into the museum entitles you to an audio guide available in various languages. Duration of the visit: 50 minutes.
I was surprised all of the items they had in this museum and the details of Wellington's movements in the days before the battle. I thought there was a lot of information/interactions in the museum for children and there was an audio guide too.

Van Rysselberghe , G. Lemmen, A. Lhote, G. Bertrand, J. Lismonde, Anto-Carte, L. Van Lint, F. De Bolle, G. Marchoul,
