The visit to see these awesome 29000-year-old examples of Cro-Magnon rock paintings is very well organised. Groups of about 30-40 are conducted into the cave with a knowledgeable guide who explains the techniques and outlines the individual animals, which are not always easy to pick out. The visit was not hurried – over an hour - and we got a good view of all the accessible art-works. The cave also has superb geological features, worth a visit in their own right! The Museum shows a selection of artefacts and a well-produced film of the caves, including illustrating some drawings in inaccessible sections.

This is the huge museum in the center of the city. With very few other visitors, I enjoyed myself watching things inside slowly.

Home of a young Toulouse Lautrec it is a beautiful building with a great collection of his art. There are also items of local history and a beautiful garden with views over the river.

We saw this crazy place on Tour de France footage, and so made the effort to get there. We absolutely loved it. Everything we were hoping it would be!

As always, this Museum of Natural History offers a wonderful experience both for adults, teenagers and kids. Following a thorough renovation a couple of years ago, this one is particularly interesting. You learn a lot about the Earth and Universe, plants and animals. It’s educative and a lot of fun. Moreover most of temporary exhibitions are very interesting as “Extinctions”, a great way back in history to understand how why and how species disappeared in the past or may disappear in the future.

Close to Saint-Sernin Basilica you’ll notice this brick-built medieval building. The collection organized on three floors shows many sarcophagus in the basement from the antiquity to the Christian Era. The first floor is fully dedicated to the artefacts found in a villae from Martres-Tolosane (50 km South of Toulouse) and the second floor gives an overview of pre-Roman and Roman period, until the establishment of the Wisigoth kingdom. This kingdom (418-507) is the topic of a wonderful temporary exhibition. 8€ for the exhibition and the permanent collection.
