Musee Lurcat

Reviewed By AlbertSalichs - Manresa, Spain

Museé Lurçat is a wonderful museum of tapestries located in Angers, a town in Loire Region, in the North part of France. The museum has only a big room, where there are a lot of fantastic Contemporanean tapestries. Really, they are different to classical ones. So, you can see great compositions in (almost) all of them. I walked around the room two times, really I was awesome and I do not like very much tapestries, I prefer other kinds of art. A top in the city! and probably a number one museum of tapestries manufactured in 20th Century!

A lovely chateau to visit, with beautiful grounds. Well worth it. We were able to walk around the open parts of the chateau, whilst reading a written guide in English. The grounds were very well kept and it was extremely peaceful during our visit. A lovely place for a long or short walk.

Pierre et Lumiere

Unique in its kind, Pierre et Lumière is an underground route where you can admire impressive sculptures representing the monuments and heritage of the Loire Valley. Hundreds of tons of stone were cut, cut and chiselled to the smallest detail. Nearly 3 years of work have been required to realize the sumptuous sculptures of castles, towns, villages and churches of our region, often carried out in low relief from the rock. A subtle luminous staging reveals the beauty of volumes and details. Lighting evolves, turns, changes colour to sublime every facet of the work. At the end of the visit, an unforgettable experience for children! A tuffeau stone, tools and wise advice. Here they are ready to create a memory that will remain etched in the stone and in their hearts.
