A coastal town just 20 miles west of Lisbon, Cascais was once a small fishing village, but its idyllic scenery attracted the attention of artists, writers and expelled European nobility in the 20th century. Today, it still attracts high society, but all society comes in force to enjoy the gorgeous beaches and adventure options like sailing and surfing. The Conde de Castro Guimarães Museum, a former palace, is now open to the public and displays an impressive collection of art and artifacts.

Loved this elegant shop and gallery in Cascais - wish we had more space in our luggage! Bought lovely gifts to take home - unusual jams in a tube, beautifully scented and wrapped soaps, candles and hand creams, and a stunning cork cuff. Would have loved to add more of the food items, but we just ran out of space. Very friendly and helpful staff

The Museu da Musica Portuguesa is destined to establish itself as a cultural reference for the study, discussion and questioning issues related to portuguese musical identity.
This museum is a little difficult to find but worth it. A beautiful old house and fantastic collection of instruments. It's not a large museum but really well laid out and we'll looked after. The staff look after you, explain about the building and contents but then they leave you alone to browse , which is perfect.

From a formidable bastion at the mouth of the Tagus to a splendid art district, it has been a tremendous re-purposing. Entering through the imposing gateway we immediately saw much engaging public art. One work called The Guardian is most impressive, placed on its lofty pedestal. An old petrol pump is redolent of times past. The Face is a powerful portrayal. A fresco of a nude female figure is visceral in its impact. Galleries and studios are in converted modernised buildings. In addition to all the great art, a Royal Palace can be visited. Accommodation and dining are available in the luxury hotel and its associated restaurant across the square from it.

The Center for Environmental Interpretation of Pedra do Sal is a space designed to disseminate values of Natural heritage, with an enviable location in São Pedro do Estoril, which functions as a storefront facing the coastline and the sea. It is situated next to the Marine Protected Area of Avencas – which has unique characteristics from a biological, geological and geophysical point of view.
