This Italian-speaking region in Southern Switzerland is on the border with Italy. Bellinzona is the capital, and Lugano is the most important city in the canton, known for its beautiful waterfront, steep hillsides and gorgeous lake views. Castelgrande is a lovely medieval castle overlooking the city that has recently been restored. The Centovalli Railway is a scenic train that operates between Locarno, Switzerland and Domodossola, Italy, traveling through the breathtaking "Hundred Valleys." Lake Como is nearby, the home of People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” George Clooney.

Travelling through Switzerland to N Italy, we had a stop in Lugano. In Ticino, the city of Lugano surprised us with very nive museum exhibiting Expressionist art. Gabriele and Anna Braglia collected a series of expressionist paintings (Nolde, Kandinsky, Marc, Werefkin, and others) and we found joy in visiting 2018 Autumn exhibition of Braglia collection in collaboration with Henning collection. Very well composed, in high quality space. Take a look at the stairs, also.

The PERSEO SA was founded in 1952 and has always been a meeting point for artists of international fame. The visit to the foundry will enable you to get to know some of the older techniques of fusion which have made the foundry a leader in Switzerland and to approach an artistic, craft activity of great value.

We were looking for a nice place to go in Switzerland that will only be a few hours travel from Como and this popped up in our search. It only took us almost 2.5 hour to reach the Castle and it did not dissapoint. IThe place was beautiful and it has a perfect view of the other castles surrounding it.

The Vincenzo Vela Museum is one of the most important artists' house-museums to have been erected in nineteenth-century Europe. Conceived by the great realist sculptor Vincenzo Vela from Ticino (1820-91) at the height of his career, and transformed into a public museum after it was donated to the Swiss state, in addition to Vincenzo Vela's gallery of monumental plaster casts it includes the bequests of the sculptor Lorenzo Vela (1812-97) and painter Spartaco Vela (1854-95), a remarkable collection of nineteenth-century Lombard and Piedmontese paintings, hundreds of autograph drawings and one of the earliest private collections of photographs in Switzerland.
