Situated in the old city at the top close to the San Francisco Javier church. Free admission to EU residents. Allow a couple of hours for looking around this amazing museum, it is set out to start in Paleolithic times through history up to modern times, all with special relevance to Cáceres. There is a cistern there which was used as a public bath in the past. Photos are allowed!

This is a real ‘must see’ in Caceres - a tribute to the labours and research undertaken by Jose de la Torre Gentil which celebrates his discovery of the 12th Century Arab house in his own home! We were thrilled to meet his granddaughter who introduced us to the house. A wonderful piece of living history.

The Palace of the Golfines de Abajo in Caceres houses an interesting display of artistic patrimony from the Foundation Tatiana Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno. This house museum offers the possibility to know the evolution of nobility through the lineage of the Golfin family, who lived in this land since the 15th century. It is an ambiance museum, which recreates a house of the Caceres nobility and, by walking through, the visitor can learn more about diverse aspects of the daily life of its owners: their taste, fashion, beliefs and hobbies through the rich artistic assets and family documents collected across centuries, with works from the 14th to the 20th century.
The Catholic monarch, Isabel and Fernando, were guests in this house during their two visits to Caceres. The house has a 15th portion that presents a house-fortress appearance complete of tower with machicolations. The other is a 16th century humanistic addition decorated with fantastic animals.
