The beautiful and unique 1200-sqaremeter building that houses the Art Center is located on the outskirts of Jyske Aas, a local area of national beauty. It was founded by electrical contractor Birger Jensen in 1977 in cooperation with architects from Junker and Flygel. This was a realization of a life-long dream of creating a modern center for art and culture. In 1985 the organization Tvind bought the building, but made little use of it. In 2001 members of the local community succeeded in raising four million kroner to buy back the place and run it as an art center, thus reviving Birger Jensen’s intention to hold at least five quality exhibitions a year. These exhibitions are very diverse, including all kinds of art and craft such as painting, sculpture, ceramics and glassware. It also hosts cultural activities such as the annual Marathon Singing on the year’s longest day.
