A collective of local artists in the Hudson Valley scene, worth seeing the current exhibits when you are in town.

Jay, the artist, makes one of a kind gliclee art I have never seen before. He always takes the time to speak with visitors and encourage student artists. His prices range from inexpensive, moderate to high. Jay's art is great for ANYONE's home and makes great gifts!

Located in a former Nabisco box-printing factory, Dia Beacon presents Dia’s collection of art from the 1960s to the present as well as special exhibitions and public programs.
Totally enjoyed Dia:Beacon art installation. Took the train from manhattan round trip.Rail runs very close to the Hudson, so worthy fall journey. Then station to Dia:Beacon by uber/easy. Vast spaces of this old factory held compelling, sometimes odd large scale sculptures in a variety of forms - glass, metal, paintings, rocks, neon etc. The 122 (?) Warhol abstract paintings - something to behold en masse. The natural light from huge skylights highlighted and then subdued the art as the day waned. Worth the journey

Following in a family tradition that spans three generations, Sean Gilvey has opened Hudson Beach Glass Philadelphia, a glass studio and gallery in Old City. This unique space allows customers to view the glassblowing process as they shop. Decorative soap dishes, elegant sushi trays, beautiful drink-ware and hand-made jewelry are some of the many products available. Hours are Wed-Fri 12-7, Sat 11-7 and Sun 12-5 (Monday and Tuesday closed).
You can watch the artists blow glass for free. If you would like to learn how to do it, you can sign up for a one-on-one class. Next door to the factory is the store where you can view hundreds of bowls, jewelry, flowers and other items made of beautiful glass. The colors and workmanship are amazing for all ages to see. My friends bought a wine glass and a matching necklace and earrings. The workers in the store are helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely go check out this huge place on the corner of Main Street.

Mount Gulian is the Hudson Valley colonial homestead of the Verplanck family (also Planck or Ver Plancken). It was the Continental Army headquarters of patriot General Fredrich Von Steuben. After the war it was the founding place of the Society of the Cincinnati.
1 Hour tour teaches you the family history as well as glimpses of former staff (gardener) and a Revolutionary war general. Interesting look into 1700s & 1800's Dutch settlers in Hudson Valley. Tour includes an old Dutch barn and replanted gardens. The old Dutch kitchen makes you glad you didn't cook in that era.
