Nice museum. The entry from outside looks like old, but worth every piece that it has inside. I think is a special museum for this city and unrated!

Venice Art Showroom Exclusive production of baroque hand crafted luxury Venetian masks in paper mache and ceramic. Decorated with first choice materials like authentic plume feathers, gold and silver leaf, Swarovski crystals and pearls for Carnival, masquerade balls, masked events, theatre, weddings and home decoration.
Amazing masks there. I love the one I bought there when I went on holidays to Albania. Great selection of lovely hand-made Venetian masks. And they care so much about the quality of their work that if the mask has a bit of damage from being on display, they won’t sell it to you. They will only sell it if it’s in perfect conditions. That’s how much they care.

House Studio Kadare is a place where you can get an idea of Kadare's work. It is a place where you can encounter the writer’s work and recognize its infinite ramifications in the times, in literature, and in his readers.
Visiting the former apartment of Ismail Kadare gives an interesting insight in living in Albania whilst being constantly watched by secret service. You must be exceptionally creative and intelligent. How wonderful it is to see that even under those circumstances people continue to have a sense of humor and continue to love and cherish life, and a fireplace:) Our guide was just great, we hope to see you in Amsterdam soon, to visit Rijksmuseum. Thank you for your time and all your answers to our questions!

Gallery 43 is the only one in Tirana with authentic artworks from the famous albanian artist Rakip Shabani. The gallery has 2 floors with 94 unique paintings. You can visit it for free just to take a glimpse of the Albanian history, culture and nature. The paintings represent different lifestyles of the Albanian culture and not only. The artworks timeline varies from 1969 to January 2020.
I can safely say this is one of the best galleries in town. Each painting I saw was unique. The environment was very inviting and friendly and I had an excellent time. I would totally recommend visiting this place and buying art there.

We've travelled entire Albania during our 2 week tour and two towns I can point out being the most beautiful are Berat and Gjirokaster. Gjirokaster is only an hour drive from the seaside resorts of Saranda and Ksamil, and I'd suggest everyone holidaying there to make a day excursion. Gjirokaster sits on slopes of Gjere mountains overlooking a huge valley. The Castle occupies a commanding position and is a beautiful site while approaching the town. The fortress dates back to 12 c, modified and reshaped over the centuries. It's main feature, the clock tower was added in 1800's by Ottoman governor Ali Pasha Tepelena who's also responsible for a magnificent sea fortress at Porto Palermo north from Saranda on the Ionian coast (read that review). The Castle houses a military museum consisting mostly of captured WWII Italian and German weapons and a US fighter plane from the cold war era (different versions on it), as well two Pasha tombs and some underground Ottoman era rooms. However, most impressing are the views of the valley and old town below. Like most such places in Albania entry fee is extremely cheap and there are good English explanations throughout the place.

You can visit many Albanian cities, towns and villages all under one roof. The secret if the front door is locked, KNOCK LOUDLY, then patiently wait as the curator or assistant is in there and will hear you to open the door. The exhibition starts in the left of the building with a GIANT 3 walled exhibit of icons from tons of churches and cathedrals across Albania, arranged like pages of a stamp collection. There is an iconostasis and many other religious paintings dating back to the 4th Century. If you are interested in religious art and want to see pieces by local artists, this is a must see.

The museum is a good option to get some historic information about Berat. The infos are available in many different languages and it's also a nice option to escape the hot hours during the summer days in Berat :)

I was quite alone in the museum, being November, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. At the entrance, I grabbed an information sheet, which is available in about 10 languages, and then I walked from beginning to end through the two floors. The museum offers glimpses into past crafts and professions, as well as how poeople lived in old times. They also display typical Albanian outfits. Children would also enjoy the mysterious, dark spaces and the meandering corridors. It was a good decision to go and see it, and at 300 Lek it is basically a treat.
