Yorkshire (/ˈjɔːrkʃər, -ʃɪər/; abbreviated Yorks), formally known as the County of York, is a historic county of Northern England and the largest in the United Kingdom. Due to its great size in comparison to other English counties, functions have been undertaken over time by its subdivisions, which have also been subject to periodic reform. Throughout these changes, Yorkshire has continued to be recognised as a geographical territory and cultural region. The name is familiar and well understood across the United Kingdom and is in common use in the media and the military, and also features in the titles of current areas of civil administration such as North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire.

We're back, with cinema screenings and the wonderful Eat Me Cafe operating from our first floor space! The home of truly great theatre. Let us transport you to new worlds and enjoy new experiences through the magic of theatre – no trip to Scarborough would be complete without it! We offer a unique, intimate experience in our renowned theatre-in-the-round as well as the more traditional end-on McCarthy theatre and cinema. The SJT has been and is known for its commitment to new writing throughout its 61 years not to mention Alan Ayckbourn’s 80 World Premieres. It is home to excellent drama, music, films, comedy and live streaming and has been the starting point for many, now familiar names.
We rented the Snow Queen from the theatre, which was filmed with a small audience when social distancing and masks still permitted a few visitors in the audience. My children aged 3 and 6 were gripped! Having been to a few of the theatres live productions in the past, they were disappointed that we were unable to make the journey back from Switzerland to Scarborough this year to be with family, and the visit to the theatre being impossible was almost a tragedy for them. This rentals opportunity really made their day! A theatre experience in our living room, with popcorn interval too - but I had to pour my own glass of wine sadly ???? The performance was incredible - one actor giving it her all. The enthusiasm, the switch between characters, so much energy - she never faltered. The music and lighting also brought a perfect atmosphere to the show, and the editing was seamless. A very impressive piece of work by a small town theatre - I strongly recommend this show to anyone with children aged 3 and up.

I love it here, I’d much rather go to the palace than drive to York for the big chain cinemas. Plenty of legroom and reasonably priced snacks and drinks.

Been to several live music events here, the latest being the tribute band Beach Boys Smile. They were brilliant, always have a great night at the Paramount.

We're more than just a cinema. We show everything from live theatre to rock concerts. Whether you're after a barista-made coffee or a cocktail, enjoy it at our bar. We even host fun events for the whole family!
Visited for the first time yesterday and very pleased we did .my wife wanted to see the Favourite and the only cinema nearby at a convenient time was the light.Having driven into Bradford we parked at the broadway centre and followed the signs directing you to the cinema, very easy and an added benefit is if you show your parking tickets the authorise it giving you free parking for up to five hours. The picturehouse is very comfortable and staff helpful and although the individual screens are quite small capacity there very clean with small table and reclining ability also very price competitive. So now we've stumbled across this one we will be coming back again

Reasonably priced tickets. Nostalgic feel. Friendly and helpful staff. Great for parking. Great to know you are supporting an independent business. The ice cream intermission is also the best!

The Ritz Cinema is a volunteer cinema in the Market Town of Thirsk in North Yorkshire. We are a small friendly local cinema, the Ritz has been a successful community venture since 1995. We aim to show a wide selection of films which appeal to a varied audience.
This lovely cinema is run by enthusiastic volunteers who are very friendly and welcoming. The cinema is a beautiful place to visit with a very good screen and lower and upper level seating. Many locals are frequest visitors and the atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming. We saw Downton Abbey film and will certainly visit again in future when in the Thirsk area.

lovely cinema with good leg room and a great cup of tea in a proper mug ! home made ginger cake was fantastic and it even serves alcohol when the film isn't for kids. You can catch live streamed events at reasonable prices and with digital sound it is wonderful to have such a gem of a place right on our doorstep.
