Summiting Triglav doesn’t necessarily require climbing experience before, but it’s relatively easy to climb if you just take some things seriously. The views from the top and all along the route are stunning so you’ll get your reward! We made a 2-day climb from Krma valley (Kovinarska koča). First day we (22yo basic sporty guy and his 48yo not so sporty dad) ascended 1600 meters to Kredarica hut, which took about 6 hours. The trail is easy terrain, just uphill ofc. The next day I summited the last 300 meters, and to there and back took about 3 hours, but only because I couldn’t help but stay up there quite long just taking photos and enjoying the views. Descending from Kredarica hut to Krma valley took about 3,5 hours. The terrain for the final part from Kredarica is much more difficult and there is possinility to even fatal injury if you slip and fall. For this reason there is via ferrara, which you can use to secure yourself. To put it short: terrain on the way to top isn’t so tough you’d climbing gear to get up, but you might feel more secure having harness and a loop with carabiner to attach to via ferrata. Like somebody said in the web, ”whatever you do, take proper shoes”. That’s true and means take shoes that support your ankle. The most of the accidents there happen because of bad shoes. Consider also taking some warm clothes and waterproof jacket even if there would be 25C down the mountain. We climbed in august in such a weather but up there was 0C, snow and cold wind. Usually during july, august and september there is no snow, but at higher altitudes the weather can change in hours. Also remember to take enough water with you! If climbing to the top and spending the night at the mountain, I recommend sleeping at Kredarica. It costs 20+ euros per person and you can also buy food from there. Notice, that you can only pay by cash there! I highly recommed climbing Triglav if you want to have a stunning experience of Slovenia’s beautiful nature. Everyone with basic fitness are able to do it (summertime), but don’t underestimate the mountain, there are people who have died there. With common sense and proper equipment it’s perfectly safe and great experience!

Nearby Ljubljana and only few kilometres from the town Kamnik is located the bottom station of the cable car to Velika planina, which takes you amongst the green pastures of the mountain plateau in the heart of the Kamnik Alps. We recommend that you walk to the herdsmen's settlement and feel the simple way of the herdsmen's life, taste their dairy products and admire the unique architecture of the cottages which define Velika planina. To those, who are more active, the mountain offers ideal possibilities for hiking and various mountain-cycling tours. Best way to get on Velika planina is cable car, which takes you from Kamniška Bistrica valley to the mountain. Average price for cable car is 13€, if you want to go to the top with a chairlif, price is 15€.
Beautiful mountain with plenty paths to fully discover the beauty of this wonderful place. They offer authentic culinary experience with locally or more accurately on the mountain made milk products from fresh milk in authentic shepherd's cottages. Keep in mind that this products are available only in summer season. The scenery is magnificent at every time of the year. There is a gondola to get you up there but hiking is also beautiful. Parking is payable and it costs 7 € per day.

"Planina Zajamniki" is something special - like going back in time. Shepherd's houses have been preserved. Almost all have been restored. Some have been converted into holiday homes. One house is "a snack bar". It was open on weekends in August. Offer: homemade cold cuts, cheese, sour milk, cottage cheese, butter. Cows are still grazing in the meadow. It is necessary to visit the highest house. Here is the most beautiful view of the Julian Alps. You can even see the highest mountain in Slovenia - Triglav. You can reach the mountain on foot, by bike or by car.
