Woven with wild greenery and Gaelic legends, the Emerald Isle is one of Europe’s most prized jewels. Rugged Atlantic beaches and mystery-shrouded sites rub shoulders with the cosmopolitan cities of Belfast and Dublin, where literary history and warm Irish hospitality are always in abundance.

Ireland's highest peak.
Recommended decent using the ZigZag route in Cnoc Na Toinne as Devils Ladder is a tough climb never mind decent. Overall incredible hike with great views from the top.

Our family of 4 started our Mount Brandon hike from the Baile Breac car park on a rainy day in July 2019. I'll say right away, that we did not reach the summit. I was disappointed, but I didn't want to push my family on if they were not feeling the hike that day. This was our 7th day in Ireland, with everyday being almost constant rain, and our 5th hike. We had hiked a little over an hour, had passed several crosses, when someone suggested maybe we had gone far enough. Knowing the best thing to do, always, is to not be control, I agreed with the decision to turn around. I've got to say though, the summit of Mount Brandon is still calling to me. :) Nevertheless, this is a beautiful hike through sheep fields, sometimes seemingly straight up vertically, with amazing views of the coastline. It was a cloudy day, so our views were constantly changing with the passing clouds and fleeting rays of sunlight. A magical pilgrimage trail, worth everyone's visit, no matter how far up you hike.

There are in fact a few "Tracks" to the very top of the highest mountain in "County Donegal" where of course the view is spectacular !!???????? Even if you find the ascent a bit of a trial the trail coming down is a pleasure ????????????????????

Getting here is not for the faint of heart. Beautiful cliffs 3 times the size of the Cliffs of Mohr. Interesting drive and or walk to the view. We were here during the fall. Only a few people. We had a choice of driving to viewing site. It is a very narrow road with walkers along the cliff side. Would not like to meet other cars. I believe that is why there is a gate. Probably locked during main tourist season. This would be a strenuous hike to the viewing point. You would need to be in good shape. It is probably a half mile hike. Beautiful views! We also had little biting flies everywhere. Took our pictures and ran back to the car.

Stunning setting for a walk..advise to be there first thing in the morning and set off walking when its lovely and quiet. We walked up through the old mines first which is an easier route to take for the more leisurely walkers.
