Room was adequate however TV was second rate. Couldn’t even access local channel 7. Sign out the front says Foxtel - wrong - must be out of date sign. In this day and age one expects basic TV as core service. Nice place to say if you don’t watch TV.

The lady on reception was fabulous and so helpful. Room was clean and tidy, had facilities to cook breakfast and we chose a cooked one which was delicious. Even though on main road we could not hear road noise. Would recommend this motel and we will stay here again.

Yes the outside is a bit run down, but once you're in the rooms, they are quite nice, the aircond works and its in a great central location. The guy is also very easy to deal with regarding bookings. Just stayed there, would recommend and will stay there again. Reasonably priced too.

Regional Australia is packed with outdated motels that represent poor value. The Commodore is not one of them. Our experience here was pleasant with a price point (room rate- $167.00 per night), which was about right for this standard of place. The room was in good order and repair with quiet air conditioning and a clean, large bathroom. We stayed two nights and the room was serviced on the morning of Day Two (no longer a given in Australian motels). Car was right outside the room and the location of the motel was close enough to the C.B.D. that you could walk. One small point was that we were beside a main road, ask for a quiet room away from the busy road.

Some good points - location was good, it was clean, good amount of parking. But some bad points too. In desperate need of work and a freshen up. The double bed mattress was broken and super uncomfortable. Needing new blinds, and decor. There was not enough toilet paper New owners have recently taken over so hopefully some works completed soon.

First up we were limited for options as we hadn’t pre booked any accomodation for our one night stay in Mt Gambier, with the only real choice at a reasonable price was said motel! First up took our money without any paperwork for a said “spa room”, looked like a pay by the hour room - nothing more to be said Key had difficulty going into lock. The bathroom had the toilet paper under lock an key (we know how valuable it was during the peak of Covid), only soap was via a pump bottle secured to the wall, when the light in the bathroom was turned on you could hear the wires arching. The main room, had a seperate spa adjacent to the bed - which we dare not use for we didn’t know what surprises would behold. The fridge didn’t work, so this meant we had to drink all our alcohol ( any excuse). We did trust the cleanliness of the cups so reverted to drinking straight from the bottle ? Wardrobe in bedroom had a broken door - not from us On the plus side bed and linen were clean. For $161 per night this just doesn’t wash And I am living with constant abuse from my wife over not reading past reviews - lesson learnt darling!

My partner and I booked to stay two nights at this motel in March 2022. Andrew called me three days before arriving to confirm our stay and give us our room number. I confirmed and said we expected to arrive around 10pm. Nothing was said to suggest this was a problem. When we arrived the place was closed and locked up. I called his mobile, apologised for disturbing but asking how we access the room. He was obviously angry at being woken up and inferred that I was being unreasonable for asking him to get out of bed and let us in. I was confused and stated that I had told him that we would be arriving at about this time three days ago. He became more annoyed when I tried to explain myself and told me he didn't have to come and open the room for us. He also kept angrily asking me when was I last had to get up late in the night for work. He kept saying that I should have called that day to confirm. I can appreciate that he was annoyed about having to get out of bed. But I am confused about why the opening hours weren't explained to me, why we weren't told that arriving at that time would be a problem and why it wasn't explained that we needed to call on the day to confirm again. Had any of those things been explained, the situation would have been avoided. His anger and attitude that night was unnecessary and unjustified given the situation arose from a lack of information from him. A very confusing and upsetting experience. Will not stay again, would not recommend
