The world's southernmost city is located on the Beagle Channel, between the Martial Range and the end of the world. It is a key access point to skiing at Cerro Castor and Glaciar Martial, wildlife adventures with penguins and orcas in the Beagle Channel, and Tierra del Fuego National Park. Of course, it’s also the port of call nearest Antarctica, and a unique destination for kayaking, sailing or having a drink in a warm hotel bar.

This inscribed monument is a touching reminder of the Falkland Islands War (La Guerra de Las Malvinas) of 1982.
The Plaza is a war memorial to the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the battle for the Malvinas with the UK. In the center of the plaza is a wall with the names of the fallen in front of the wall is a eternal flame. All around the Plaza you can see pictures of the conflict. Ushuaia was the parting point to the Malvinas and is still to this day considered the Capital of the region that includes the Malvinas.

Inaugurated in June 2017 to honor the ancient settlers of Ushuaia, this sculpture located in the Civic Plaza is the work of renowned local artist Antonino Pillelo. A contest was held in 2015, and his proposal was the winner. It depicts Ushuaia with mountain slopes transformed into an albatross with wings outstretched. Different sequences of history are displayed around the sculpture. What a beautiful tribute honoring the history of Ushuaia!
