We stayed here for two nights. The location is excellent with a very nice view of Mt. Fuji. Like all hotels and Ryokans in Japan, it is up to the same standard nothing out of the ordinary. Check in was not the friendliness ever. We felt like the owner was a. dictator. We are paying guests. Bath-time was regulated. We had to sign up when we should take our bath and no bath in the morning- only at night at our signed up slot. Breakfast was the same. 8 sharp. dinner was the same. We had to be back in the inn by 10 pm. It was too much. I would highly not recommend to stay here unless you like to be controlled by the most unfriendly owner in the whole of Japan. We are not children and we paid for our stay. There are plenty of places to stay at Lake Kawaguchiko.

The room is spacious and beds are comfortable. We even have a balcony facing Mountain Fuji to perfect my stay. For this price with this view... they deserve a 4 star rate. The man owner was super friendly and nice.

A small guest house headed by a friendly owner who will come for you at the railway station and bring you home, a little bit far of the center of the city. For 70 euros you will have a comfortable room with 2 prepared futons, a small balcony and a wonderful view on the Fuji. Shower and restroom are shared among 3-4 rooms and a typical Japanese breakfast is included. A + is free bikes for the customers and a - is the kitschy deco of the room. A nice opportunity in this place, and an owner who will advise you warmly on what to do in the region. (Excellent support at the tourist office in the station)

My husband and I stayed at Yabukiso for one night while traveling throughout Japan. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by Asuki, our host. She was very sweet and gave us tons of recommendations for lunch. We talked to her for quite a while and told her about our issues with getting to our train station the next morning. After leaving and having a wonderful time in town we returned to Asuki not only greeting us and offering us tea but also telling us she would be happy to drive us to our Station! It was such a relief and truly made us feel very cared for. We also just happen to be staying on a day when you could see Mt. Fuji perfectly - which is actually right behind Yabukiso, providing a beautiful view for guests to sit and enjoy. This property was beautiful and was even more so because of those who run it! If you stay in Lake Yamanaka you must stay here!

This ryokan is clean and spacious for anyone who’s travelling around Fuji at a low price. The owners are so kind and helpful and their breakfast is amazing. The only downside is that you have to pay in cash, although there’s an ATM just down the road. Would stay here again anytime!

When you consider the prices of other places in the area, you really can't go wrong! Staying in a traditional Japanese place was one of the highlights of our trip. We were lucky enough to have Mt Fuji views. The bed on the floor was super comfy, everything was clean. The staff were super helpful and offer and free shuttle bus. Make the most of the brand new bikes for hire to bike around the lake. We were fortunate enough to be in the middle of Cherry Blossom season and the park across the road was full of them.

Fugakuso is located in the center of Fujigoko Lake. There are sightseeing spots, restaurants, convenience store and hot spring resorts near this hostel. So it is a great convenience to do something. It takes 5 minutes'drive from kawaguchiko station. It's also 20 minutes on foot. Throughout the year, Fujikawaguchiko town has many guests from around the world. If you would like to climb Mt.Fuji, its fifth station is located only 40 minutes away by bus. Therich nature, flowers and birds of the four seasons will relax you.
We stayed here after fleeing an uncomfortable capsule hotel at the 5th station on Mt. Fuji after our Fuji climb. We arrived in Kawaguchiko after 4pm with no reservations, and the travel concierge at the train station suggested Minshuku Fugakuso. The owner picked us up at the station (and dropped us there in time for our bus the next morning), and drove us out to his lovely, traditional guesthouse. The weather meant no views of the mountain for us from the house, but our room was clean, with comfortable futons we rolled out ourselves. Both the shared bath and the shared bathrooms were very clean, too. We had access to a kitchen / fridge, which would be handy for longer stays. The owner suggested a few places nearby to eat, recommending a bento place across the street and saying we could bring it back to our room, which is what we did. He also offered us discount coupons for a nearby onsen, but we didn't have much time, unfortunately. We enjoyed wandering around the neighborhood and were really happy to have found ourselves there -- and wishing we had more time to spend there before moving on!

Highly hospitable and helpful host. He'll go out of his way to make sure that your needs are attended to. He also takes time to talk with each guest and ask how everyone's day went. Fast internet. Clean property, from rooms to lavatories! Had a comfortable sleep each night. Great view of Mt. Fuji from the backyard. The property is approximately a 25-minute walk from the Kawaguchiko station so be prepared. You also need to rent towels.
