Absolutely my favorite stop so far! We found out about this place through Harvest Host and it is absolutely worth the stop. Jim was a fantastic host- after speaking with him on the phone, he sent us an email including some information about the area and recommendations of places to eat/visit within a mile of the museum. Parking lot included a turnaround area which was kind of small, but we were able to successfully maneuver our 45’ fifth wheel around and get into a mostly level position for the evening. Once inside the museum we were greeted by kind, gracious, volunteers and Jim came out to meet us and ended up giving us a personal tour of the entire place. We spent about an hour and a half going through the stories and could have spent so much more time here. What a great way to honor our veterans and those serving our country. Thank you for a memorable experience!

Hello we are the Jacobs family. The first time we went it was not completed yet. We had the pleasure of going again and it was completed. I highly recommend anybody who is a history buff or just an average American looking for something to do to go and see awesome soldiers Memorial Military Museum. It was awesome to see that they dedicated it to all the wars. It was nice to see all the different types of uniforms for the different branches of service as well as different types of military equipment as well as different types of military ammo as well as rifles to guns. It was an honor to see what all the people had donated or had sent there to be put on loan it wasn't worth the trip and worth the time to go through so please take the time out of your schedule to go see it well worth it. The time in the thought process that went into doing this was well worth the wait to see it. It's an easy walk from any hotel.

Museum of Missouri Military History

Reviewed By Conkfamily - Camdenton, United States

Our Boy Scout Troop was in Jefferson City touring historical sites and we found out that there was a military museum close by so we added it to our trip. It is about 5 miles or so from the capital building. We arrived at the gate about 3pm and were welcomed by friendly security staff after showing them our drivers license and issued our visitor badges we were allowed in. This museum is located at the Missouri headquarter for the Missouri National Guard. The museum is made up of two parts and indoor section that has items of history with displays and descriptions of items and events, the out door part has retired planes, tanks, artillery, with description of the equipment. The museum is not large and we toured and felt like we had time and I would say we were there for an hour and half. The guide that was working the museum was friendly and knowledgeable, he did not pressure us to leave even though the museum's closing hour was 4pm and we were the past that. I would recommend touring the military museum if you are in Jefferson city and like to see historical places and things. I am glad we toured the museum and will add this to our scout activities when in Jefferson city. They do recommend if you are going to have more than 10 guests to let them know, we had more than 10 but as I said the guide was very accomidating.

Although I love museums in general (yes, I am that sort of person), I was not expecting to enjoy the Ft. Leonard Wood Museum as much as I did. I had a lot of fun looking at all of the exhibits, especially my personal favourite, the section of the Berlin Wall.
