Juyong Pass of Great Wall

12 miles north of Changping and 37 miles north of Beijing. Apparently closest portion of Great Wall to Beijing.

We returned a week ago from visiting the Juyong Pass of the Great Wall with our Wendy Wu Tour. It was amazing. A bucket list thing to do. We arrived early, about 8.45 am, thus beating the crowds. It was a little foggy when we first arrived but this soon lifted giving us incredible views. This part of the wall is very steep and the steps are quite uneven and it is a climb rather than a walk. A certain amount of fitness is needed but if you go at your own pace and take frequent breaks it is not too bad. It doesn’t matter how far you go because the views are fantastic from all towers, and you can say you’ve walked on the Great Wall of China. To know it is 2,300 yrs old is incredible. I managed to get to fortress 12, as far as you can go on that section of the wall, in just over an hour and it took about 30 mins to go down ( I’m 65). There is a souvenir shop at fortress 9 where you can purchase a medal with your name engraved for 35 yuan. I must mention my legs were very sore for the next 2 days, but it was worth it!

816 Nuclear Military Plant

My first ever one day trip to the 816 Nuclear Military Plant (816地下核工厂), Baitao Town, Fuling District, Chongqing, China (中国重庆涪陵区白涛镇), which is far away from my school, and I took a Didi to get a High-Speed train from Chongqing North Railway station to Fuling North Railway station. 816 Nuclear Military Plant (816地下核工厂) located at Baitao Town, Fuling District, Chongqing, China. As the most extensive underground tunnel system globally, part of the third line of defense against Soviet military threat. The construction began in 1966 and was almost finished, but the project was canceled in 1984 due to changing geopolitical factors (a decline of the Soviet Union) and chemical waste treatment issues. Since no plutonium or other radioactive materials were processed here, it is safe and open for visitors, both Chinese and foreign. . . ©chongqingeatery

Monte Forte (Fortaleza do Monte)

Built in the 16th century by the Jesuits and later used as a military base, this fort today features a public park, an observatory and the Macau Museum.

Reviewed By DickyKnees63 - Adelaide, Australia

The Macau Museum is spread over multiple levels atop the Monte Fort - great city views by the way. Escalators get you to the top for this no fee attraction which contains well curated displays of Macau's colonial and Chinese heritage. Essentially, you work your way from floor to floor to peruse artworks, static display, dioramas & AV prentations covering the history of Macau. Everything from a traditional Chinese bridal bed to memorabilia from the long defunct Macau fireworks factories. Very worth while.
