Rachel's Apartments is the best place to stay during your vacation.
This is a nice, basic, spacious apartment, located at a small alley in North Paramaribo neighborhood. Full kitchen, and good shower pressure with ample hot water. There is a laundry room at the ground floor if you need to use it. The location of Rachel's Apartment is very good: - Safe residential neighborhood with supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. Fine to walk day and night, unlike the downtown area which can be a little seedy after night falls. - 10 min walk to the Historic Inner City of Paramaribo - 10 min walk to 2 covid testing sites (MyLab and MeDiLab) It is best to reach out to the proprietor by whatsapp before you arrive with your ETA to ensure someone is there to check you in. He owns two apartments in the same area and therefore may not always be around to greet you. There is also a security guard onsite 7 PM-7 AM that can allow guests in after hours.

Knini Paati River Resort is a small resort located in the Ferulasi Sula(waterrapid) in the Upper Region of the Suriname River. Knini Paati is a perfect location to enjoy the beauty of nature, to experience local culture and to enjoy the comfort of our lodges while we take care of you. We have 6 spacious lodges with solar powered airconditioning and a swimming pool. See you soon!
First, I had plenty of hot water. The rooms are simple, but that is what you would expect from a small jungle lodge in Suriname. The rooms were also clean. The food was great, and the service was excellent. I went on several small tours with the local guides that included swimming in rapids in the river, a jungle walk, and a boat trip to various villages. I like the fact that it is run by Maroon people who take a great deal of pride in their little resort!

In the far away south of Suriname awaits a unique experience: Jungle Lodge Palumeu. Situated in the living area of the Trio and Wajana Amerindians, one hour by small airplane from Parama-ribo, the capital city of Suriname. Here, you will meet the original inhabitants of the Amazon rainforest and their lifestyle, fully centered on being in harmony with nature. The comfortable jungle lodges for your accommodations offer a magnificent view over the river. Interesting boat trips on the river and walks through the amazing Amazon rainforest will complete this unique experience which will linger in your memory for a long time.
We stayed here for a couple of days and had a wonderful time. The METS organisation and especially guide Julius van Trom were fantastic in every respect. The excursions were beautiful and we saw many interesting and beautiful things and animals. The food was excellent and the cabins were very comfortable. We mostly slept in hammocks on the lookout jetty though. The lounge building is very comfortable and serves snacks and drinks all day. The morning tea / coffee at your cabin is a great feature too. I miss the place already.

The location is superb. Personnel friendly and the local Guide Alex is extremely helpful to the elderly. Alex also was entertaining on a jungle - and village walk and on the cultural evening. Cook Angelique was excellent, with a wide variety of local foods.

This ecolodge has clean double and family cabins with beds and mosquito nets, each with shower and toilet. Most cabins have a direct view on the river. The is a terrace restaurant over the river, where you get full breakfast and two delicious authentic Saramaccan-Surinamese meals a day; all day there is coffee, tea, and drinking water available. In our cosy bar you can get cold softdrinks, beer, and even some cocktails. De reis Paramaribo - Kosindo heen en terug, via bus/boot of vliegtuig, wordt volledig door de lodge georganiseerd, zonder bijkomende kosten. The lodge offers a lot of activities (initiation into the life of the Saramaccan people), like assisting in a kitchen, gourd and wood working. Half-, one- and 2-3 day boat trips are organized: a forest walk during which a guide tells you everything about fauna and flora, Peti Sula (natural jacuzzi), cayman spotting, fishing in a creek, survival in the Amazon forest, ... Our asset: after a first guided villlage walk, our guests can wander freely between the 6 villages of the region, connected by safe and fairly comfortable paths through the wood. This is how they come into contact with the Saramaccan people, their daily life and rituals. All transport by bus/boat or by plane, from and to Paramaribo is organized by us, without extra costs.
I traveled alone and asked the owner, mr Frans Dinge, to organize my travel to and from Paramaribo, with a stay at two other lodges on the way back. He replied swiftly to my emails, and organized my travel very well. The journey to Kosindo is long, and it is worthwhile contemplating doing it over two days if this can be arranged. I stayed at the lodge for a week, filled with walks through the highly interesting villages, trips up and swimming in the river, laying in a hammock in the shade, and a delightful trip through the bush to a granite rock from which top one oversees the bush. From either the hammock or my cosy cabin there were great views of the river, and of activities of the villagers whose life in large measure is interwoven with the river. Very hospitable place!

We had a wonderful 4-day stay at Tio Boto Eco Lodge! With superb guiding, travelling and cooking by Thomas and his eldest son we felt completely welcome and at ease alongside the Surinam river in the middle of the Surinam jungle. Thomas built the lodges by himself some years ago. He is not only a very good host, cook of traditional Saramaccan food and storyteller, but also teacher at the local primary school in the village nextdoor. So he knows the local people and traditions from inside. Tio Boto is maybe not the most luxuruous place to stay, but that is the charme of the place.

In the 1980's of the past century Mr. Wijnberg Tokoe, owner of Myrysji Tours Suriname, went to Paramaribo for further education. He returned to Galibi (Langamankondre and Christiaankondre) with the idea to bring development to his village. In June 1986 a conflict started between a group of men from the interior and the army isolated the district Marowijne. In April 1992, after the conflict ended, Mr. Wijnberg started with a 3 bedroom vacation lodge, mainly for friends and acquaintances from Paramaribo. By following a variety of tourism courses he took the initiative to further specialize in tourism development in his village. Myrysji Tours Suriname is one of the first who put the villages, Langaman- and Christiaankondre, on the map of Suriname. Every year he invested in his building turning it into the comfortable Myrysji Lodge. In 2004 Myrysji Tours Suriname won the BID golden management award in Madrid, Spain.
The Myrysji lodge is not in Paramaribo but on Galibi beach in Eastern Suriname - a favorite destination for turtle watching. Tours to this place can be booked via the tour operators such as Orange Tours or Jenny Tours. This lodge is one of a few owned by the same Indian family from Galibi - the others are the Kadaru lodge and the Urusji lodge. The Myrysji lodge was named after the big palm tree that bears the relatively small red fruits. The location is very scenic and the beach is kept fairly clean by locals who do a morning clean-up. The comforts are basic, there are some rooms with private simple bathrooms. Adequate for one or two nights associated with nightly watching of the big turtles laying their eggs.

We met the nice supervisor today when stopping to have our picnic lunch near this resort. Our goal was to visit the Brokopondo Meer Viewpoint with its view over the 1+ mile Afobaka Dam and its 600 square mile Brokopondo Reservoir. Returning we drove down the outflow, the Suriname River, and spotted the riverfront resort with its sandy beach. We then crossed the 'gridiron bridge' and took the 1st dirt lane that ended up at the resort gate next to the cottages. Very nice and green.

New Babunhol River Resort is a beautiful site at the Surinam River. Babunhol is the perfect place to relax. You can swim in the river, enjoy the nature or visit the maroon villages in the area.
