Named for a local swamp fish, Paraty sits on Brazil's southeastern coast, 125 miles south of Rio, with the Bocaino Mountains at its back. The small colonial town's center is a national historic monument with well-preserved buildings on its pedestrian-only streets. Take a boat trip out into the bay to the flotillas of islands and coves nearby. Explore sugarcane plantations and hike or take a train through Atlantica Forest. Keep an eye out for the monkeys that roam the cobblestone streets.

Welcome to this intimate boutique hotel, a stone's throw from both the historic city center of Paraty and the Pontal beach. The hotel features twelve spacious and stylish rooms with air-condition and private bathrooms, all recently refurbished and individually decorated. Nestled in a lush tropical garden the hotel offers guests a quiet, simple and refined atmosphere. Some days here is just what is needed to slip into the peaceful, calm spirit of Paraty and its exciting surroundings.
Great little boutique hotel. The staff, especially the front desk Camili were extremely nice and helpful. The rooms are simple and very clean. We had 2 rooms for a family of 4. Cost is reasonable. Breakfast was nice and bc of Covid they had it brought out to you after ordering. The little courtyard was pretty and relaxing with a caipirinha was nice after a long day of travel. It is a short 5 min walk to the Centro Historic part of town. This was nice to be away from the noise of the busy city center. Free covered parking was also nice to have.

Only a ten minute walk from the bus terminal and a short distance from the historical centre of cobbled streets. The breakfast is plenty - ps you can ask for eggs cooked the way you like them. Tea, Coffee, bread, cakes baked daily, fruit and cereal. It's basic and we didn't have our room serviced in the 4 days we stayed but the staff were excellent, friendly and really helpful. Extending our room free of charge so we could shower after our boat trip and before we had to catch the night bus. Hammocks to relax in and a pool, lovely garden surrounds. Would recommend!

We recently visited Rio for our first time with family and took a few days to visit Paraty. You won't be disappointed by the charming downtown, nearby forests, waterfalls, sea waters(take a private smaller boat tour as opposed to larger boat) and restaurants. Staying at Casa Clara was perfect in every way. The owners, Lisbela and Roberto, made our stay personal in their friendly welcoming manner. Rooms were comfortably appointed, gardens relaxing, and morning homemade breakfasts delicious. Special dietary needs were accommodated and their recommendations for day trips gladly made. We felt like family. Just a few minutes from town, in a quiet neighborhood, Casa Clara is a quiet retreat from RIO! Obrigado Beto and Bella, until next time...Kathy and Ken

This is a basic hotel, with bathroom, air conditioning and a refrigerator. The bed has a good size. Located at pontal beach, it is just 5 to 7 minutes walking from the historic centre. There is a small swimming pool, nice to refresh. The WiFi is very slow. There is no private parking, not even near by, I had to park on the street.

The Pousada is perfectly located, along the river and at 2mn walk from the historic center. The owner is always willing to help you for your activites in Paraty and around. The house is well decorated with old pieces of cratfmanship (artisanat), old cameras and paintings, and contains a lovely indoor garden with a bench to relax. The room are quite small and the mattress too hard for our backs. But we slept anyway and had a lovely stay there.

We stayed here thinking that even though it was a little away from the town it would be fairly easy to get in and out assuming that taxis were priced same as Rio. We were shocked that the taxi cost 20 Reals for a 2 minute journey, and it is not easy to get a bus either, you have to cross a busy road each time and the buses are not frequent enough. Also the pool was busy being built I am sure it will be lovely but at the moment it doesn't exist. Our other problem was that no-one spoke english at all. I have to say that if you can speak Portuguese and you have your own transport it is not bad, so I guess this would be a good option for Brazilians.

It is the worst hotel We have ever stayed in our life. We booked through Booking as the pictures are pretty deceptive; rooms seem big and bright while they are very small and they smell of wet. We were welcomed by a very young guy who did not know anything about the structure and so we immediately tried to find an alternative as it was our honeymoon and it was not possible to spend our time in a smelly, dirty, old and awful place. We found an other accommodation and we immediately tried to call the owner in order to cancel our reservation; the mobile phone was not available and we were not able to send a whatsup message neither. We wrote To Booking and they told us that they hforwarded our cancellation request To the Owner, but they have not answered yet. We were obliged to spend a night at the “hotel” as the alternative has not availability for the first night. The night was a nightmare; plenty of mosquitos, old fashion air conditioning too noisy and very small bed with a sort of dirty blanket to cover it. The day after we explained to the young guy that we would have left the room and he tried to communicate with Miss Ana, the owner. She tried to obtain from us the entire sum, even if the cancellation policy entitled her only to ask 50% of the value. We waited two hours in order to argue that her behavior was deceptive and not compliant to cancellation policy applicable; finally we arranged to pay Eur 400,00 for an awful night in a disgusting place. During our waiting time, we note that a lot of flies and mosquitos were on the food prepared for breakfast. They were not even able to find us a taxi and we need to call the other pousada s driven in order to get a ride. We absolutely not recommend this place as it is awful and the owner was unlawful as she tried to get an higher amount from us.
