The most populous (with 18 million people) and westernmost (bordering Belgium and the Netherlands) of Germany's federal states, North Rhine-Westphalia is one of Europe's most highly industrialized areas, with an impressive 30 cities of more than 100,000. Cologne is the district's biggest city, and the capital is Dusseldorf. Bonn, the former capital of West Germany, is also here. All three are part of the Rhine-Ruhr region of nearly 12 million people, one of Europe's biggest metropolitan areas.

Stayed here for a night on a business trip and everything was as expected. It's a modern budget hotel and the value was great. Everything was clean, the room was small but comfortable and had everything inside that I need, drinks and snacks can be purchased at machines in the lobby and the breakfast was tasty with a good choice. The location of the hotel is good, nearby the main station in the city center.

Have low expectations if you stay here. I was very unimpressed for €120 per night. The location is great, just 2 mins from Dortmund Hbf train station, but thats about all thats good. The rooms are terrible, it had a bad smell, its was cold, it was still dirty from the pervious occupant. We had no towels in our room so we asked the front desk, the man was rude in suggesting we might be trying to steal them from the hotel so he wanted to come and search the room before he would give us any. After waiting nearly 90 minutes another man turned up at our door, he also said he wanted to come in before he would hand them over to me, VERY rude to suggest guests would steal. The bed sheets & pillow covers had dirt marks all over them. The bin in the room & bathroom had things left by the previous guests. The room stinks of damp and the room is freezing cold. Glad we only stayed for 1 night.

The owner was very courteous and kind. All of the staff were nice and helpful. Max was my favorite, he was very entertaining. The lobby was clean and playfully decorated. As was the rest of the hotel. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. It's located right by the Rhine River and close walking distance to the Koln Cathedral. I definitely recommend this hotel.

This visit was supposed to be a romantic weekend.? We got a new room, large enough. Wifi password only worked after the 10th time. You can see through the bathroom door and extra tall window to the room (so, no privacy in the bathroom). Not my kind of feature. Swimming pool is very very small and cold. There are 7 chais around. Saunarium is also defect. We also got a pass for a nearby therme, 10-15 min walking distance. We were given no option about dinner time for both days (5:30 pm / 17:30) We haven't had the 3-course dinner yet. Not holding my breath.

Very bad place! I stayed there for one night and all i can say is that this place is definitely the worst i have ever been. The room was so small and dirty, the sheets were so used and dirty!!! Also another problem was the noise, there were a lot of unpleasant noises form some other people who were staying in the hotel!? Also there were a train station opposite the hotel and we couldn’t sleep all night!! Such a very bad experience!!

A small family run guest house . Have been comong to Hemer for many years and did not know this place existed. The rooms are clean and look recently refurbished. The are friendly and speak a little English. Breakfast is traditional German but ample . Had an evening meal there with friends who were impressed and were looking to book for a family party . Would stay their again .

I farrived late and was made very welcome by the friendly staff. Openning the bar and pouring a large German beer. My room was clean, spacious and comfortable. I got a great nights sleep, and enjoyed a tasty breakfast. Went to pay the bill and it was only 38.5 euros! I had such a great experience and the staff were so friendly I'll be back.
