10 Lodges in New Mexico: Best hotel deals for 2023

April 19, 2023 Diedre Savory

With its rich cultural heritage from Native American and Spanish settlers, New Mexico has been both a Spanish colony and a Mexican colony, and still retains a strong individual identity within the United States. The landscape is breathtaking, the food incredible, and there is a thriving cultural scene, all of which makes New Mexico, and Santa Fe in particular, a great place all year long.

The people here are SO friendly and really made us feel welcome. There was an odd odor when I opened the door - gas wall heater. This place was cleaner than some of the 4 & 5 star hotels that I have stayed at. The bed and sheets were so cozy it was hard to crawl out in time for 11 am checkout. We will definitely stay here again and again.

Dissatisfied with management and service.

I always use this cabin service when visiting Ruidoso and always have a good experience. My recent trip left me very dissatisfied! Upon my arrival as I was checking things found that one of the exterior doors would not open, the fireplace did not work, the hot tub did not have enough water, and the cabin was not properly cleaned. They had to call maintenance to come and work on the hot tub. It never got warm until after 6 hours, which was around mid-night. I did call earlier and the girl who answered the phone was not very nice. I think that when you rent something expecting certain amenities to work they should all be ready and functional. When I finally called and ask to speak to a manager she was also not very friendly. She was never apologetic about my experience and or that things were not working properly.

We were amazed. Everything listed on the website is well more than we expected. Although we have only been together and traveling for the last 4 years, this is our best vacation by far. Your own hot tub? Your own sauna? The standards were are great as the amenities. The bedding was by Bamboo, there were plenty of plates, cups, glasses, silverware, towels, etc. We did not expect a dishwasher but were pleasantly surprised. Megan and Jennifer were great hosts as well. They had great advice for hiking, sightseeing, restaurants, and points of interest. The sunset and sunrise over the mountains are breathtaking.

Great place to stay

Reviewed By squatchhater

We stayed here on short notice and were satisfied with our experience. After we reserved our room, we were able to walk right in which was great since we were exhausted. Unfortunately we were off the next day and were unable to take advantage of the fly shop and fishing guides. I can however safely say that I found the guides very friendly and courteous when I spoke to them in passing. The room was spacious and welcoming. It was what you might expect from a fly fishing lodge, not too fancy, but not spartan either. Our room was reasonably priced and came with a microwave, Keurig coffee maker, mini fridge, giant TV, and speedy WiFi. Our room was amply supplied with sundries and towels. The view from our room though, was absolutely stellar. We would stay here again without hesitation.

Owner greet us when we we're checking in, very nice person. His small dog came out to greet us and let me pet him/her - we let owner know we have our dog with us and he saw our dog and like her. Room was clean when coming in, has a king bed - sho wer stall bathroom was clean - big chairs and a table - tv stand, fridge n microwave, only door knob lock. Not much places to take your dog to do her business, quiet side of town - traffic wasn't to loud, slept good - But the 10am check out?? Feels like when check out comes its like "get up, bathe get dress and get out" type of feeling - we stayed in hotels with 11a check out and 12n check out but 10a check out is kinda sorta early especially if your check in is late. It was a nice stay with friendly owner.

Great Value, Beautiful Location!

We stayed in a "Casita", which is a small cabin with a kitchenette and living area. The room was just fine for us. Could use a little repair to the flooring and mini blinds, but it was clean and had a very comfortable queen bed with brand new pillow top mattress, and the sofa bed was new or newly upholstered. It was so quiet and we had a great view out of the window towards the river. It is walking distance to the Ski Lodge. You can't beat the price of the lift tickets and rentals there. Great skiing for beginners or intermediate. The restaurant was only open for take out food (due to short staff and it desperately needs remodeling). You can order online and they text you when it is ready. Awesome green chile pork stew (very spicy!), and they have burgers, sandwiches etc. If you want nice amenities and modern facilities, you might want to go somewhere else, but you will pay triple the price. I do recommend, but hope they are able to update and fully open the Lodge and Restaurant soon.

We stayed in cabin # 10 for a week. It is a 2 bedroom cabin that worked well for 2 people and 2 dogs. Quiet location and comfortable with a full kitchen, plenty of towels, pillows and blankets. Lots of space on the property to walk the dog. Plenty of fishing and wildlife visitors including ducks and deer. The friendly hosts are in the office or around the property ready to answer any questions.
