Found this hotel while stranded at night in Leribe. Beautiful stone buildings with very decent rooms. Has a restaurant for dinning and child seats when travelling with infants. The hotel is centrally located in northern Lesotho, making places like Maseru, Butha Buthe and Katse Dam easily accessible. Not far from the Kome Caves.

What a great place! Hard to get to places often are the most rewarding. The tavern is a highlight, and the fireplaces in the rooms were great during the cold night. The rondavel i stayed in was up a number of steps, so bring your walking shoes! Although I didn’t have a 4x4 car and they did say that there is a parking area for 4x4 vehicles closer to the room. Highlight was the donkey pub crawl, a must-do! Will definitely be back! When you visit just be sure to have a 4x4 and willing to walk steps.

I had the most wonderful stay at Ramabanta. The chalets are spacious and I appreciate that they charge per person rather than a set price for the entire chalet. The one we stayed in is a five-sleeper, with a main ensuite bedroom and an attic bedroom with three beds. The thatched roof and stone design gives that cozy feel that’s supposed to accompany a mountain retreat. There was a small fireplace that warmed up the entire living area and the groundsman did a wonderful job at keeping us well-stocked with firewood. We were visited by a cold front the week of our trip so the fire burned the entire time. The activities are organised by the lodge management but facilitated by the community so take cash/Mpesa for that. It’s always so inspiring when tourist attractions empower the local community. The horses we rode during our stay belonged to the small council of horse-owners in the community and the lodge keeps none of the proceeds. All the money we paid went straight to the owners the horses. The guides who took us on the hikes also kept all the money paid for those activities. It’s important to note that Lesotho’s tourism sector is small and any development we want to see is going to have to come from people traveling the country and supporting as many people along the chain as possible, right down to the hiking guides. My favourite memory about this trip is how I felt like I was truly away. It was so quiet and remote that I forgot that just an hour away, work and electricity bills were awaiting me. Time felt like it was moving slower, I relaxed and lived my life in ‘pause mode’ for a few days. It wasn’t a very long stay but it made a massive impact. I’m definitely going to go back in Summer. The lodge uses a generator, so the power goes off from 10pm to 7am and then again from 9am to 5pm. It’s not ideal if you have intentions of working from home during the day but if you’re looking to switch off and be fully present, it’s the perfect place. Luckily, the water uses a gas heating system so it was always hot. You can choose between self-catering chalets or arrange meals with the kitchen, they are very flexible. We braai’ed every night because they have braai facilities. I would recommend buying charcoal, there is a general store in the village should you require anything

Lapeng Thoteng Bed and Breakfast is a scenic retreat nestled in the heart of Roma Valley in Lesotho. Our accommodation includes 8 thatched modern styled ensuite traditional huts (Rondavels) and a total of 10 well furnished, clean rooms. We are located 31 km (19miles) from our country's capital Maseru and 81 km (50miles) to Semonkong, home of the beautiful and well known Maletsunyane Falls.
We had a nice stay at Lapeng. The hostess was very helpful. We were 3 families traveling together. 6 adults and 5 kids (10, 10, 9, 8, 7). The common dining room/ kitchen had good wifi. (As you moved to the rondavels (huts) the signal got weaker.). The kitchen had enough utensils and cookware to cook up spaghetti and sauce for dinner, and open a couple of bottles of wine. The outdoor pavilion/patio was a nice space for us to enjoy the evening and recap our day's adventures. We enjoyed breakfast in the morning. And took Day trips to Semonkong to see the Maletsunyane waterfall, and go horseback riding. Heads up, if you want to abseil/rappel down the falls, you need two days. One day to train and one day to absail.

Rustic Lodge - Power from generators only - nestled the the majestic Maluti Mountains of Lesotho. TV & Wi-Fi in the Clubhouse
This was shocking I don’t recommend this place at all To start off the rooms where disgusting there was barely any hot water to shower and I was too disgusted to even shower there. The only reason we stayed there was because Afriski was full The management is terrible and the food it’s even worse Go to Afriski This was shocking never coming back again This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at Does not even deserve to be called a hotel Never go here

Stayed right before the Covid-19 Lockdown. I camped and used the lodge for shower, toilet and bar of course. My aim was the Sani Pass down and up on a MTB a couple of days before the border closed. It was a good experience, freezing cold but will do it again once the border opens.

Letloepe lodge offers guest comfortable accommodation in a choice of three styles. We have traditional style Rodavals, the main house and affordable accommodation for backpackers. Located in Qacha's Nek, only 26km from Matatiele in the Eastern Cape, The lodge is 5min drive from the border gate and makes for a great option to rest on your way to Maseru or even as a base on your visit to Sehlabathebe national park.
This place reopened a year ago. It's still a bit ragged round the edges, yet acceptable enough. Lovely mountain views around. Elsy Moji who welcomed me at reception is a pleasant lassie. The cramped portacabin was perhaps a bit overpriced for what it was, but it was peaceful. The bar was open in the evening & was pretty good craic. Beautiful light walking to the border next morning, saying hello to many kids passing the opposite way to school. Formalities at immigration on both sides, and I was fortunate that the combi filled up fast to drive dustily back down into S.Af. That halt still in Lesotho enabled me next day to reach the Wild Coast at Port St Johns before sunset, 10 hours on 5 buses & quite the contrast in temperature.
