Devon Cottages - The Ultimate in Relaxing Breaks From the wilds of Dartmoor to the wooded hillsides of the Lyn Valley, Devon is undoubtedly one of England's most beautiful counties. Its overwhelmingly rural landscape means that catered accommodation is restricted to over-subscribed Bed and Breakfasts and hotels which are mostly concentrated in towns like Exeter and Barnstaple. Devon is a great location for a family holiday in the great outdoors, with everything from beach resorts at Ilfracombe to rambling in the hills of Exmoor and tors of Dartmoor. It is a large county, but whether you want to follow the Tarka Trail, or walk down the Doone Valley, you can be sure there will be cottages open for holiday rentals nearby. Devon's Cottages, All Mod Cons Most of Devon's holiday rental cottages started as farm buildings of some sort, and planning restrictions mean that many of them retain their rural charm on the outside. However, the cottages are generally renovated to 21st Century standards inside, with double glazing, TV, washing machines and fully-equipped kitchens. Families are well catered for in the higher end properties with games rooms, sometimes including full-size pool tables and large gardens for children to explore. Despite the unpredictability of Devon's weather even during the summer months, the comfort of these properties gives great peace of mind. Moreover, a week's holiday rental of a cottage in Devon can cost as little as £300 - £400. During the peak season you can spend as much as £900 a month for one of the larger or more luxurious cottages, which still works out to be cheaper than a lot of hotels, especially if you have to book several rooms to accommodate a family of four or five. Town Mouse or Country Mouse To get the best of Devon's startling countryside and its friendly communities, renting a holiday cottage near Lynton and Lynmouth can be a good start. It is a useful base from which to explore North Devon, and is within walking distance of several beauty spots, such as Watersmeet (complete with a small but impressive waterfall) and the Valley of the Rocks. Separated by a steep cliff, you can travel up a funicular railway from coastal Lynmouth to clifftop Lynton, with plenty of stunning walks, shopping opportunities and several beaches and boat trips to nearby coastal attractions. The twin villages also boast a concentration of well-equipped holiday cottages, from modest fisherman's cottages on the path to Watersmeet to grander hillside houses on the way to the Valley of the Rocks. Whatever your budget, Lynton and Lynmouth can provide some tempting accommodation options for your first Devon holiday.

The Hotel was a real disappointment & needs to be taken off of booking.com & TripAdvisor needs to review the listing as it is false advertising. Ignore any reviews or photos as these were from the previous owners but it now belongs to the chain OYO Hotels. No staff, no breakfast or any other food, no bar, dirty rooms, ripped sheets, disgusting shower, horrible smell in the indoor pool area & the outdoor pool OMG, the whole place need a deep clean. We have 2 flats that we let out & if they were in this state we would be shut down. We stayed in the superior suite with sea view & payed over £130 per night !

A35 Pitstop is under new management since Summer 2014. We provide accommodation with single,twin/double and family rooms with cafe/restaurant facility. We are delighted to inform our customers that our rooms are under refurbishment as a part of our continuous evaluation and upgrading of the standard. We are committed to provide a satisfactory service to our customers.
They overbooked our room. They had other rooms available but they were more expensive. We could stay in another room or two separate rooms if we would pay for it. So they made a mistake and we would have to pay for it. We didn't stay. Now waiting to get our money back.

Stayed at your establishment all over Christmas and new year and just wanted to say a big thank you for all the hard work you went too. Christmas was amazing but I must say New year was even better. Good friendly staff, and the pub was filled with so many friendly people that helped us feel welcome. The New year's free buffet was absolutely first class. So thank you. I have nothing but nice things to say about your place and to top it off our room was freshly made and very very clean. We will be back to support you even further. THANK YOU ?

And on top of that, there's not even a mention of it on booking.com . When I politely asked the hotel if they could be flexible, as I couldn't possibly get to the place before 8pm, whoever replied was quite curt with me. Almost as if they didn't really want me there. A local hotel for local people perhaps? There are much better hotels nearby anyway, to be fair, so it's odd that they are so selective.

5 Luxury lodges set within 6 acres of woodland and lakes. Perfect for a relaxing break with friends or family, fishing, or explore what beautiful Devon has to offer. Each lodge has its own private hot tub and the lodges are decorated with stylish decor.
We have recently returned from a few days away in one of these charming lodges. From the minute we arrived we relaxed and felt at home. Everything needed to make our stay comfortable was provided for us by Jill & Andrew. From the complimentary tea, coffee and chocolates to the plentiful supply of logs for the wood burner. Not to mention the homemade, freshly baked cream teas from Jill ! It truly was a delightful stay and we will definitely be back soon.

Situated separate to the main house with its own access and parking this is a spacious, light, airy, vaulted, centrally heated room with its own private en-suite facilities including balcony and patio. The kitchen contains a oven/grill, ceramic hobs and large fridge with freezer compartment This studio is very well suited to couples seeking some privacy.
We stayed three nights in a self contained apartment over the garage that looked out over rolling hills to the sea. There was a lovely coastal track at the rear of the premises leading down to nearby beaches. The apartment was spacious, with room to open both our suitcases. It had a well equipped kitchenette, and good shower. The apartment was light and airy, with lots of windows, and a sliding door onto a rear balcony overlooking a field with a herd of cows. What impressed us most was how well designed the apartment was, making the best use of the available space. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable apartment on the Devon coast.

There are free parking spaces outside Holland Hall (subject to availability) and St David’s mainline train station is just a short distance from the campus.
We have had a great couple of nights here. We are on our way to Dartmouth, but main reason to stay was to get an idea for my daughter in 2022. Great way to visit. Staff everywhere that we went to in the University were super friendly, the staff here at the halls are lovely, breakfast is amazing. The room is comfortable . All I can say that was a bit uncomfortable, it can get very hot in the rooms . The rooms may not all have a patio door that is not allowed to be open, I don't know, but our one had to remain closed for safety reasons it said. I must call to see if some of the rooms have opening windows, for the future. We had a lift, but apparently some blocks do not, so might be worth asking when booking if you need a lift. Im glad we did because of suit case. Parking is just outside the building, so perfect, meals were lovely around the university of an evening. We were certainly made to feel welcome, thank you

Court Barton Farm is an amazing character full property. Set in lovely country side and many please visit are short drives away. The welcome from Jackie, the owner was amazing, I felt relaxed and happy to be there immediately. The property is tastefully decorated, sympathetic to property, but with a modern, chic feel. The en-suite double we had was lovely. The bed is one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. The room was spotless and gorgeous. Breakfast times were agreed the night before and were flexible to cater for the different needs of our two night stay. I absolutely loved her breakfasts, very tasty and great choice, (hot and cold all included) Jackie cooked the best grilled tomatoes I have ever had, they were flavour some and succulent, without being mushy. Jackie,I have one complaint. You made it very difficult for me to leave, I just didn’t want to go. You were personable and still looking to meet all out requirements. You cared! You and your husband have created something special and I wish you every success. Fond memories, K.

Our Devon eco lodges offer a tranquil haven for short breaks and longer stays. We're an award winning green business, running our 21 acres for wildlife. But you don't need to be super-green to stay - it's for everyone. Choose from fabulous Balebarn Lodge, with its straw bale construction, upcycled style and amazing view, three well-appointed wooden eco-lodges set amongst trees, or Otter Cottage, a converted stone barn with views over our lakes and to Dartmoor. Booking direct will always get you the best prices. Dogs and children welcome. Close to excellent fishing, traditional pubs, cycle trails and great walks.
On our arrival, we were met by Ian, our host. He welcomed us with smile and a plateful of wonderful, melt in your mouth scones. Our accommodation was: Balebarn Lodge. It was fully equipped and warm. The bonus was the piano! I was surprised to find it tuned. Our niece spoilt us with music. The walk-in shower was great for Dad (89 yrs). The location was perfect for us, a party of 8, to relax and explore North Devon. Very quiet. Dad did a spot of fishing, we had a lot of laughs with the tandem and skateboard. Not been on a skateboard for more than 45 years! However it also lends itself to quieter activities, such as reading, painting and yoga. The hot tub was a lot of fun too. We stayed two nights. Will plan the next trip better and stay longer. We loved our stay!
