Beautiful place to stay in the middle of a national park / wilderness

Reviewed By nikolauss723

We stayed here for 3 days and enjoyed our activities here. The standard is good, but limited to a level that corresponds to the location in this natural environment in the middle of the park. Here you have the feeling of being in the middle of Africa - animals can roam freely in the camp. The manager is very friendly and eats with his guests in the evening. Bush walks, game drives and boat cruises are offered depending on the season in this picturesque landscape. Many predatory cats can be found here.

Chobe Water Village Experience

Reviewed By Franciscogpg

Chobe Water Villas is a place with a particular charm. Being located on the banks of the Chobe River, the villas are located on the same river and the transfers are therefore by boat, whose experience is amazing. When you arrive at the gates of Chobe Water Village, you already realize the level and how spectacular its rooms are on the river. The rooms are impressive, overlooking the river and with the latest technology. The villas are designed for guests to rest and enjoy, and also have a terrace where you can relax and watch the sunrise or sunset with a drink. Once again, I am personally surprised by the restaurant's haute cuisine. There is only a pre-established menu for breakfast, and at lunch and dinner the Chef innovates. Nothing to envy to any category restaurant in Madrid! In our particular case we were attended by Thomas, Corina and Heikii. They are exceptional people, who apart from helping you in every possible way, accompany you on safaris and make your days much better. I would like to personally thank them all. I definitely recommend it and I will repeat.

Zambezi Mubala Lodge

The Zambezi Mubala Lodge is a paradise for nature and fishing enthusiasts and a must for all bird lovers. Atmospheric boat trips during sunset allow you to dive into the colourful water and animal world of the Zambezi. A healthy filling for every photographer. Gondwana Collection’s Brand and Marketing Director, Mannfred Goldbeck, is convinced that the name of the new lodge is exactly what it promises: “Mubala means ‘colour’ in die local Silozi language. We are convinced that the harmonious colours of nature and its reflections on the water of the Zambezi will be a unique and memorable holiday experience.” The Zambezi Mubala Lodge is currently being rebuilt on the site of what used to be Kalizo Lodge, and accommodation can be booked as from 1 November 2017. Eighteen spacious double chalets and two family chalets, all en suite and air conditioned, offer breath-taking views of the river landscape, inviting you to linger. There are also six tented chalets with en suite bathrooms. Here, our guests will find a temporary home but it is also home to the colourful, cheerfully fluttering Carmine Bee-eaters. The colony on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River is one of the largest in southern Africa. The Zambezi Mubala Lodge is located 40km east of Katima Mulilo on the Namibian riverbank of the Zambezi, overlooking Zambia – in the heart of untouched nature. Day trips to the famous Victoria Falls, the Chobe National Park and other national parks in the region are not to be missed.

Few mishaps can ruin an experience

We understand that they don’t have family room available but they could place our two rooms closer to each other. We had no. 3 and 7 which is quite a walk. Each parent had to take one child. Our bags were packed together so it was an inconvenience specially when we stayed there for 2 nights and despite asking for rooms next to each other, I was not asked even though the rooms next door were empty. To my surprise, they gave the rooms to new occupants instead of giving me the option. I guess because they didn’t want to clean my room. The food by the pool took too long to arrive and when we finished eating, no one came to take the plates away even after 1,5 hrs. There were constantly no pool towels at reception. The dinners and breakfasts were nice and the place is beautiful. The staff need some training on how to pour wine.. they spilled the wine twice (both nights) on the table and my clothes.

Great Venue, but ripped off on refund

Reviewed By 790matthewk

The lodge was good, but we had booked to leave Durban on a Monday. Just before 6 AM, shortly before we had to leave for the airport my wife received an email (not even a phone call) to say the flight was cancelled. We could easily have missed the email, & gone to the airport, & flown to Johannesburg to find our flight to Kasane was cancelled, & then found ourselves stuck in Johannesburg with nowhere to stay. We were advised by the consultant with whom we booked, Lynne van Wyk that we could travel the next day, & we would be refunded for the day that we had missed. What she did not tell us is that something like 4 of the preceding 5 Monday flights had been cancelled. If she had told us this, we would have left on a different day of the week. We have now been back over 6 weeks & still no refund. My wife & I, as well as the friends with whom we travelled have all contacted Lynne van Wyk who told us the refunds had been deposited into our accounts, but when we checked, there had been no refund. As much as the trip was good, it was not cheap, & it has been spoiled by this experience.
