The epicentre of Mumbai’s dizzying economic growth doesn’t lie behind glass facades of skyscrapers, but in a run-down neighborhood of Mumbai. The people here might not be your suit-clad businessmen, but are owners of multi-million dollar companies. These are the people of Dharavi – One of Asia’s largest slums. In spite of the all the grunginess and squalor, Dharavi is the most bustling and economically proficient part of Mumbai, generating revenue of a staggering billion US Dollars annually. An erstwhile marshy fishing village, Dharavi creek dried up when a dam was built in the neighbouring area. As years rolled on, communities thrived economically, which is seen even today in the labyrinth of leather goods, embroidered dresses and clay pots of various designs, among others cottage industries. Also tour the cardboard industries and the recycle industry to understand the indispensable contribution of Dharavi to Mumbai’s ecological well-being.

Inclusions: Driver, Hop-on hop-off tour, Hotel pickup and drop-off, Professional guide, Private transportation, All Fees and Taxes

Exclusions: Additional transport cost for North Mumbai pick-up, Gratuities, Additional cost for the services of a language guide (besides English)

NFPs walking tours are a great way to explore Mumbai as an insider. I did the Horniman Circle tour(Bombay Zero) on a Sunday Morning, at first I was a little hesitant as the tour started at 8:30 am but after completing the tour I realised it was so worth it! Totally felt like I travelled back-in time and experienced “Bombay”- in all its past glory. A special mention should go to Aditya who provided live commentary on the tour, really enjoyed his enthusiasm!

I have only good things to say, Veshali and I connected from the first minute. She is so sweet, bubbly and full of positive energy. It felt like spending a day with a good friend, she showed all the different and colourful facets of Mumbai and the time was flying away so quickly. She explained everything very well and my personal highlights were the Taj Mahal Palace, the University of Mumbai and the shoreline. I can definitely recommend to meet Veshali for a tour or perhaps for the next festivals! I am looking forward to meeting her one day again and wish her all the best for her future. Kindest Regards to Mumbai! Christina

Organising was easy online and I was able to watsapp to confirm hotel pick up. Driver was punctual and polite (Satish ) Trip was to waterfalls. For anyone with back problems to note the Jeep ride from the base is very rocky and quite long (over 30 mins). There is then a 15 min walk over rocky path. You are given 1 hour at the falls which is sufficient 2nd stop was spice plantation which was interesting and not too hard a sell to buy spices. Traditional buffet lunch also provided. Note drinks must be paid for. Final stop was 2 churches in old Goa - would have been helpful to have guides included for these Overall enjoyable - we left hotel at 7am and came back by 3.30
