Having a free afternoon in Budapest I decided I should take a walking tour to get better acquainted with the city. A friend suggested one of Robert’s, having had an enjoyable excursion with him a few weeks previously, and I chose his “4 sites : 4 stories” tour, which covered the areas around the Central Market in Pest and Gellert Hill in Buda. Both Robert and this tour were good choices. It’s an interesting area with a lot of history and Robert had a great deal of information about it, much of it backed up with illustrations and photographs of how the various sites looked in the past. He had a wealth of stories, both about this area and about Budapest generally, which made the tour come alive – I had a number of questions during our walk and he was able to answer them all immediately! Robert is an affable host, speaks excellent English (he’s spent time in the UK) and clearly loves his subject. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour, it really helped me to feel more “grounded” in Budapest and I shall certainly choose another of his tours if – when! - I return to this wonderful city - köszönöm szépen, Robert, thank you very much!

One of the highlights of our trip to Hungary was this tour! It is always intriguing to view a city as how it was before. I personally gained new knowledge and maybe even more passion towards this subject, as I am already drawn to history. Sending our tour guide the warmest regards.

Discover Budapest’s street art scene and learn about the city’s contemporary culture, history and politics through these vibrant murals and street art pieces on a small group with a local guide. On this tour, we’re going to give you an insider look at the history, the culture, and the creative context. The bulk of this tour will be spent looking at murals, graffitis and other forms of street art. The more you explore, the more you’ll find, dotted around the otherwise bare walls of the city’s Jewish Quarter. But, we’re not just here to take photos. We’ll discuss each piece, the themes and their socio-political background, themes and the artists behind them. With local artists dominating the scene – and using their work to celebrate ideas and items that locals hold precious – you’ll find yourself getting an accidental lesson in history and culture. Our small-group tours are limited to 8 people only, so you’ll get plenty of chance to ask questions and get local tips
Inclusions: Coffee and/or Tea
Exclusions: Lunch
On my first day of Budapest I wanted to see the Jewish quarter as I'd heard this was a must-do activity. Attila's ruinpub tour was perfect for seeing all the main sights, visiting some funky bars, understanding the culture and history of the Jewish quarter, and getting good recommendations of local places to eat. Was also fun having a drink with Attila and the other participants towards the end of the tour. In short, I'd recommend this tour to tourists looking for culture and history

The tour starts in the center of Budapest (I pick up all groups personally). First we walk on the Andrássy Avenue, the most emblematic boulevard in Budapest. The avenue begins in the city center and ends on the Heroes' Square, where you can learn about Hungarian history sculpted in stone. The Municipal Park was a hunting grounds that the nobility used for many centuries. In the 18th century it was transformed into one of the first public parks in the world. Today it has many famous attractions: the Zoo, the Széchenyi Spa and the Vajdahunyad Castle. The tour ends at the Museum of Fine Arts with a 60-minute VIP visit with focus on the outstanding works of the „Grand Masters - European art between 1250 - 1600” collection Please note that the tour's price includes the fee of the guided visit in the museum (16000 forint / 60 minutes) and your entrance tickets.
Inclusions: Entrance tickets to the Museum of Fine Arts, VIP visit in the museum of Fine Arts
Exclusions: Coffee and/or Tea, Lunch
This was a truly amazing insight to this very interesting world of the city. The program itself was well organized, full of interesting stories, info and facts that you do not find in guide books. The guide seemed pretty knowledgeable, proved to be flexible and was enjoying what she was doing. The selected route and locations were spot on, the synagogues are breathtaking, and you really get a nice overview on the whole historical and current Jewish daily life.

You can enjoy Budapest urban art from your home. Explore the hipster part of the city, so you will be prepared for the visit, when it's be possibly again! Ask as many questions as you wish! This is how you can personalize your tour and visit. I would love to know what you are most interested in! My name is Patricia, I am a licensed guide and a passionate local with a hint of sarcasm. I guide you through the city’s street art scene. Throughout the tour, you can expect to see huge murals, graffiti, illegally placed statues illustrating controversial topics of Hungarian history, and contemporary political stickers. The experience is a virtual live guided tour. Because of the possible time differences ( Budapest, UTC +2 ), I would suggest we set the time via email after your booking. You can choose the best suitable time, and I can send you further details about the videocall as well. See you soon!
Inclusions: Live guided virtual tour
Exclusions: Please download the Zoom app to your device
I had the pleasure of being virtually guided by Patricia in the Old Town area of Budapest. It was such a great experience! Patricia is very knowledgeable in the history of Hungary. Whatever question popped up in my head during the tour she had a meaningful answer. I was glad talking with her all the way during the virtual tour, and must also note her excellent English. I especially liked the story behind the Jewish Synagogue in the times of the Second World War as this topic interests me immensely. I would highly recommend Patricia as a truly expert guide to her amazing city of Budapest. On top of that, she is a smart and pleasant personality. Thank you very, Patricia!

We spent a week in Budapest and began in the best way possible-- with 3 days of guided tours by the wonderful women of Budapest Locals! Anita took excellent care of our needs while we were still in the U.S. She helped us to set up our tours and times in the most kind and efficient manner. Once we arrived in Budapest, we spent our time with Barbi and Kinga. We ate, we learned, we laughed and we came away with a great appreciation of Hungary and its history and a love for the kind Hungarians who introduced us to their beautiful city. I highly recommend a tour, short or long, with Budapest Locals whenever you come to Budapest!

During the tour you get to see the breathtaking pieces of architecture in a style that started to flourish towards the end of the 1900’s. In merely 20 years numerous masterpieces were constructed according to the various branches of the Secessionist Movement present in Europe. Viennese Secession, Jugendstil, French and Belgian Art Nouveau and finally for the first time, a real “National Style” was also born: the Hungarian Art Nouveau. Among these beautiful edifices we offer you the chance to admire Gresham Palace, the Hungarian National Treasury, the Museum of Applied Arts and much more that you could ever find in a guidebook. A coffee stop is also included in the tour at a marvellous Art Nouveau scene.
