We strengthen the Texas Woman's University education by connecting our community to information and library services in a historic building. We are home to the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) national archives at Texas Woman’s University. The growing collection is available for viewing and research as part of the Woman’s Collection. The archives include documents, reports, trainee handbooks, military records and artifacts which catalog the experimental program between 1942 and 1944 when women trained and flew while enlisted in the Armed Forces of America.

I'll add my vote the already 150+ Excellent votes for the GTPL. Eric Lashley, the director, is terrific, and so is Dana Hendrix, the Fine Arts Librarian. The place hosts many, many public events, has a coffee shop inside with booths to wrapping around the library's book, art and music and periodical shelving. Upstairs there are several rooms for public functions, large and small, constantly-changing art and sculpture shows and a second-hand bookstore. The library produces monthly concerts, and hosts concerts for other local music organizations. It has a Steinway piano, plus chairs and stands suitable to professional music ensembles.

A description of some of the items that are contained in the center

Reviewed By austex_gringo - Austin, United States

The Ransom Center always offers a great distraction on days when the weather is not cooperating my children's weekly adventures. There are only a handful of items on permanent display, including a wonderful Frida Kahlo, the first photograph ever taken, and the Gutenberg Bible. In addition there are busts from various artists of various famous writers menu which are exceptional. The real treat The Ransom Center, however, all the rotating displays. They change them out several times a year and there's almost always something of Interest to see. The collection itself is a gold mine of minutiae covering the last 150 years or so of the western experience.

Stopped for Sunday brunch and the food was excellent. We were recommended try the "World's best coconut pie" and it was truly an excellent piece of pie. We enjoyed chatting with the owner. Very friendly wait staff. They also have an adjacent shop with various unique items for sale. Would definitely stop again if we're in the area
