At Andante we host cooking classes on topics such as Austrian cuisine, Viennese cakes and sweets, hoome-made bread pasta, seasonal specialties... in a most pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. We warmly invite people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds to share their rich culinary heritage, cook and have fun together.
Our cooking evening at Andante was a real highlight of our recent European visit. We enjoyed an evening class just before Christmas and it was a fantastic experience led by wonderful host/chef Nabiel. We learnt to cook soup with semolina dumplings, weiner schnitzel and apple strudel and Babiel was great at involving everyone, encouraging us all to take part from stretching strudel pastry to crumbing schnitzels. Finally, we ate our delicious meal! Thoroughly recommended.

More than 150 years ago, Johann "Schani" Strauss made the Vienna Waltz famous around the world. Today, the dreams of millions of ball attendees are set to three-quarter time. Learn how to waltz at the place where it was invented -- at a "Blitz" dance lesson in Vienna. The Rueff Dance School is located in the old center of the city, right behind City Hall (Rathaus). For visitors to Vienna, it offers waltz lessons at fixed times several days the week (you can also pass by just for one lesson): HOP ON WALTZ In addition to the basis of the waltz, Rueff also teaches the basic steps of the dizzying polka. The waltz lessons are held in German and English, in other languages by prior arrangement - for instance Japanese, Russian, and so on. Each lesson costs 50 Euros per couple. You can leave your ball gown at home or in your hotel room, comfortable leisure wear is entirely sufficient, but be sure to wear shoes with smooth soles. For couples, prior reservation is not necessary -- just stop by and join in! (If you are interested, but do not have a dancing partner, please get in contact with the Rueff dance school in advance).
We cannot rate this highly enough. We were over in Vienna for a few days and always like trying something a little different - away from the usual tourist traps - so upon seeing the opportunity to take an hour taster session of the Viennese Waltz for absolute beginners we thought we mist give it a go. For the really affordable price of €25 each we had an hour one on one session with Michael who took is through the basics with exceptional patience and professionalism. Really made us feel comfortable despite being rather out of our comfort zone. Overall this was a brilliant introduction to the waltz and I would highly recommend anybody going along and giving it a go
