We booked an excellent 'hawk walk' experience though Virgin for 3/4 hour. Just the two of us (in our 50s) and and the knowledgeable keeper Ross. We took a stroll to the falconry arena area then on to the public parkland/woods down the lane, with the harris hawk freely following by choice. We had the hawk land on our hand about 5 times each from the posts and trees. The experience includes entry to the falconry which is much bigger and better than we expected - loads of birds (including owls and vultures), and meerkats, skunks, racoons and ferrets - so spent the few hours there. All had great enclosures and were well looked after. Saw an impressive flight demonstration show in the arena too for about half an hour - not just the usual birds of prey - a little owl, kookaburra and cute running/jumping seriema too. The falconry centre is part of a big garden centre complex including a restaurant, cafe, farm shop, clothing, and a few outdoor farm animals (alpacas, rhea, goats) so you can make a whole day out. There's even a soft play, carousel and playground for young ones (though limited opening in Aug due to covid). Superb, and surpassed our expectations!!

Wilderness Pioneers provides first class outdoor education and training in bushcraft, survival and wilderness skills for all ages. Join our highly experienced instructors as they share their knowledge and experience and learn skills from all over the world whilst gaining an amazing insight into our natural world.
We spent a weekend in the woods with Manse and Mark learning basic bushcraft and survival skills, and I cannot recommend this enough. We learnt how to make fire, purify and sterilise water, prepare food, pick shelter & make rope amongst other things. Manse and Mark have huge wealth of knowledge between them, and deliver the course in a fun and informative way, and it was surprisingly comfortable and relaxing to sleep in a hammock in the woods. Oh and the food is great, we had a roast dinner on Saturday night cooked over an open fire!! I thoroughly enjoyed this weekend and came out completely relaxed, I would recommend to everyone. Thanks guys - hope to see you again.....

Braziers Park is a community, a residential college and an architectural treasure hidden deep in the south Oxfordshire countryside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It was founded in 1950 as an educational trust, and is a continuing experiment in the advantages and problems of living in a group. Community members share responsibility for running the mansion house (a Grade II* listed building), 55 acres of land, organic kitchen garden and livestock, facilitating courses and organising events assisted by visiting volunteers from around the world. As one of the oldest secular communities in the UK, we endeavour to create a space which enables people to integrate both learning and teaching, and to find and develop their full potential in all aspects – intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual. We strive to understand more fully our relationships with each other and with nature and society so that we can co-operate in taking constructive action in the world today.
