Denmark's largest island is so much more than simply the home of the country's dynamic capital, Copenhagen. Zealand also offers a delightful array of holiday homes and villas, pleasing harbors and sandy beaches, fringed by forests where castles lurk. Major destinations include the UNESCO-designated, Dutch Renaissance-style Kronborg Castle in Helsingor and the Viking attractions, cathedral and music festival of Roskilde. To the south bobs a flotilla of beautiful and relatively untouched islands.

We went to see Spöket i Köket (Ghost in the Kitchen - they are self described at nordic-canadian inspired lounge-rave folk music) at this venue, on a Wednesday night. It is a small club, some tables at the edges and row seating in the middle. Great, unusual music and a great venue! If you like jazz and are in CPH, try to see a show here!

Welcome to Cafe Blagards Apotek (Cafe Blagards Pharmacy) located at Central Nørrebro. Locally referred to as ”Kroteket” (”The Barmacy”), the bar offers a collection of many different beers, both traditional and unique, and of Danish as well as foreign origin. If beer is not your preference we do of course also offer a nice glass of wine, a scintillating whisky or delicious rum. This broad and particular selection of beverages is complemented by the rustique atmosphere of the bar room, an atmosphere unlike most others found in Copenhagen. At the old pharmacy counter, now repurposed as bar, the talk goes lively on subjects ranging from current affairs to the simple tasks of everyday life. Cafe Blagards Apotek offers a charm and quaintness cultivated through its long existence – in fact, the building was constructed as long ago as 1900 predating the well-known square itself. At ”Kroteket” we also offer a smorgasbord of live music events: Mondays we have a tried and true jazz jam from 20:00 to 23:00, on Wednesdays we welcome the long running Singer-Songwriters Playground from 20:00 to 23:30, and Friday and Saturday presents superb live acts primarily in the genres of Blues, Folk, and Rock, from 21:00 to midnight. Friday and Saturday there is a cover charge of DKK 20,-. One Saturday night every month a DJ takes charge of the music, and the last Sunday of every month we have the Sunday Matine – relaxing live music in the afternoon to keep the Sunday blues at bay. Each month the exhibition on the bar room walls changes to a new artist and “Kroteket” regularly arranges public debates on current social and political issues. The cafe is run as a non-profit and owned by a foundation that ensures that the profits are channelled back into the local society. In other words, here you can satisfy your soul’s desires, be it the casual chat of the coffee salon or the music and nightlife of the weekend. (We have it, and you are very welcome.)

Jazzhouse is Copenhagen's most important jazz club. The club presents more than 200 concerts a year with the most outstanding contemporary artists and established legends. Jazzhouse is a creative powerhouse in Northern Europe when it comes to live concerts and is an influential institution in the development of the concert form. Expect at Jazzhouse to sit side by side with renowned musicians and artists whose enthusiasm and style continually challenge and develop the jazz genre. After Friday and Saturday concerts the night club always remains open until dawn- let go on the dance floor to the hippest DJs and VJs around or head upstairs to the intimate cocktail bar Herluf.
With more than 100 whiskies, all cocktails with whisky, whisky tasting & parings with whisky & beer. We consider us a whisky bar. Our cocktails offer both traditional and modern takes, and are all designed for different styles of taste.
The Holbæk Jazz Club, which has existed since 1955 and in its present form since 1996, is a non-commercial association whose purpose is to present jazz with Danish and foreign artists of high quality, thereby giving the audience good musical experiences and spreading knowledge of jazz in general, but also to act as inspiration for local music and cultural life.
