Made up of St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas, the laidback USVI offer sophisticated dining, turquoise waters and quaint towns. On St. Croix, Christiansted's colorful Danish Colonial buildings provide a lovely backdrop for dining or sailing. Underwater coral gardens are heaven for divers. On St. Thomas, shopping mecca Charlotte Amalie has hopping nightlife. Tranquil St. John offers quiet trails, secluded coves and lively Cruz Bay's shops and bars. Ferries and local air services link the islands.

A haven for hikers, more than 135 acres of this island located in Charlotte Amalie harbor is part of the Virgin Islands National Park.
While official tours to the island are temporarily halted, you can get over to the island by making arrangements with a dive shop or through a kayak rental company. It is well worth the trouble if you enjoy history, as the island has plenty! From Danish batteries that became British forts that became American signaling stations, old German (Hamburg America Lines) coaling stations, old Royal Mail Steam Packet Company wharfs, to the best preserved marine railway in the Western Hemisphere, the history is everywhere. If kayaking, I recommend staying to the protected waters on the northern end of the island, as the waters around the southern portion are quite choppy. I also recommend going as early as possible to avoid harbor marine (to include seaplane) traffic.

The Kayak and Snorkel Adventure to Henley Cay by our guide Sydney of VIECOTOUR was fabulous. She gauged our skill level and confidence quickly to make sure everything was perfect and comfortable for us. Sydney's pace was sufficient to get us to all the highlights of Henley Cay and Scott Bay while still adding to the trip with education about the fish and corral we were seeing. We saw so much and still were allowed to spend extra time on the Eagle Ray, many turtles and unusual fish and coral we encountered. All in all we spent just over an hour at each location after an easy Kayak to Henley Cay and back to Scott's Bay. Be sure to ask for Sydney, she is so sweet, knowledgeable and made the trip so much fun! We highly recommend this tour. Martha and Todd from Dallas TX

The fourth largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands, this quiet 492-acre island, located in Charlotte Amalie harbor, beckons those who want to stroll its beaches, bike amid its green hills, and view birds, iguana, turtles and other wildlife that make this lovely paradise their home.
We have been coming to St Thomas for years, but this was the first year visiting Water Island. It is a short ferry ride from Crown Point harbor (ferry fills up fast so get in line early)......the island itself is nice, with a free shuttle to the beach and convenient golf cart rentals right at the pier. The golf cart is worth it if you want explore the island - there are great spots for panoramic pics from the higher parts of the island, as well as an old unfinished fort at the very top. The beach is great, with chairs/umbrellas and 2 different spots to to purchase food/drink. We will definitely be adding this as one of our regular spots for future visits.

A short swim from Leinster Bay, you'll find some of the best snorkeling on this small island, with its plethora of marine life.
This is our favorite place to snorkel on St. John's. Wear sneakers and walk on a gentle hike for about a mile, from the Sugar Mill parking lot and then enjoy the beautiful view. Swim around the tiny island just offshore. The live coral is beautiful and there are lots of fish, sea turtles, birds and starfish to observe. Be sure to use plenty of sunscreen so you do not get sunburned. If you plan to picnic after your swim, be sure to either hang your bag in a nearby tree, carry it in a thick plastic cooler or leave your food in your car. The mongoose steal food from backpacks and plastic bags when no one is around.

This remote island off the St. Thomas coast affords a welcome getaway from the bustle of the main island.
We recently arrived in St. Thomas on a cruise and our shore excursion was Buck Island Sail and Snorkel aboard the Stars and Stripes! Great boat with a great crew = Karen (Kara?) was the captain and her crew of Corey and Kasha was outstanding. Hard Workers and lots of fun! Excellent snorkeling in Turtle Bay and then over to snorkel above a WWII wreck. Beautiful waters and fun to see turtles in their natural environment. The WWII wreck is also fun to snorkel over. This is a fun, friendly crew that is also very professional. Great excursion!

A rocky dive site with a sandy bottom full of various species of rays.
The shallow reef dives are optimal for beginners. The classic cast of Caribbean marine life wont disappoint.
