Reviewed By LoBommerWe were on a trip from Malaga to Jerez and we decided to check out Zahara on the way, so glad we did. We had only booked 1 night as we were unsure of what we would find there! Indeed we were pleasantly surprised, Zahara is a sleepy old fishing town with numerous bars and restaurants and a magnificent beach. Hotel Porfirio exceeded our expectations and we wished we had stayed there longer. Check in was very efficient and friendly, 2 brothers as I recall. The hotel is very nice and homely and built in a local architectural style. We had a suite which was clean and very large and furnished in a local Spanish style, there was a nice balcony with sunbeds. The pool area was excellent, nice pool and lots of beds. Breakfast in the large dining room or on the patio was very good, with plenty of breads, cheese and meats, fruit and pastries etc. Service was very good. We will return and would recommend this great hotel.

Beautiful hotel in a fantastic area of Spain
Reviewed By MelanieEldridgeWe loved this hotel. The artwork was stylish and although we had a standard room - there is nothing standard about this hotel. Rooms are lovely, huge comfortable beds, everything was modern and clean. If you want a romantic, adult only break then don’t hesitate to book. We decided to go half board, so pleased we did. The food was just a cut above other hotel food. The town is close and really pretty, lots of alleyways with many restaurants. We cannot understand why it only has 4 tripadvisor stars. We thought the staff were not going to be very friendly, how wrong we were. Everyone working at the hotel was attentive, professional, helpful and friendly. However, don’t expect their English to be as fluent as in more commercial parts of Spain. In fact we decided to learn a bit of Spanish , so we’re able to tell them our room number in Spanish and our lunch and drink orders. This was interesting for us and, I’m sure, very funny for them! If you are considering this hotel don’t be put off by any negativity, we will certainly be back. Love this part of Spain and the hotel.

El Cortijo de Zahara, charming boutique hotel set in a restored Andalusian farmhouse, recently renovated, data of 1,883, and has a great integrated architecture of yesteryear enlargement. The hotel has 78 rooms of which 20 are junior suites, each room is decorated with its own style, down to the smallest detail and equipped with all the necessities to make your stay more enjoyable. Facilities include large gardens, terraces, indoor and outdoor pools, a relaxation area with massage area, restaurant, pool bar ... Everything desirable for an unforgettable vacation.
Bit disappointing really

Immediately on arrival there were lots of questions about add ons - best beds by the pool (30 euros), drinks packages etc, renting towels, loads of rules about this and that, not very relaxing. Welcome drinks laid out but not for us! The bar staff were playing Spotify with a loop of about 20 euro house songs by the pool all day, got very irritating which is not what you are looking for! Bar at Sunset bar with pool not open. Rooms very big but the block we were in was noisy, forget a lie in, including from plumbing, constant dripping noise in our room from overhead pipes! Much better cheaper options in Zahara with better restaurants nearby, we wished we had stayed in town.

This hotel is little far from the town center but it 4 star boutique hotel with very friendly staff and also very clean... In Spain there is not too much alternatives for breakfast but this hotel offers also some fresh fruits, fried eggs, granola and so on... Not on the beach but not far from the beach as well .. You need to walk just five minutes;) Zahara del atunes is famous for fresh tuna fish and fish restaurants.. In this region there is not too much hotels that is way pricing for the hotels are high and restaurants are little expensive... But i must say i like eating good tuna fish which is very delicious:) I know we are not able to have too much holidays buy if you are around this place good to worth visiting to eat good fish?

Reviewed By Stay519982This hotel is Atlanterra but still close enough to visit Zahara. The food is really good and the staff is always willing to help. The entertainment team is the best asset of the hotel, especially for the kids but we also enjoyed the musical shows during a couple of nights

Very very disappointed
Reviewed By 628amandaeHad a 2 night reservation and the day before we were due to stay our daughter was involved in a road traffic accident and admitted to hospital. Called the hotel and sent a message and also the following day did the same thing . Despite the circumstances still charged for room and cancellation fee . Been a regular guest and nothing was taken into consideration. Very disappointed

Our room (105) was excellent for all our needs, comfy beds, lively big room with tv, small Juliet balcony with table for two to enjoy nibbles and a glass of wine whilst people watching. Excellent.

Lovely hotel but bedroom lighting an issue for me

The public areas and pool are light and spacious and we had a lovely large, modern room with a very confortable bed and great bathroom. However there was a green light above the bedroom door ( apparently emergency lighting) we had a lobby between this door and the bedroom but the light shining through the glass panelled door meant that the bedroom was slightly illuminated all night, as I like a dark room I found it difficult to sleep. I did ask at reception and understood that all rooms have the same lighting. Parking is expensive at €15 per day ... park in the beach car park instead for €2 A shame as apart from the bedroom light problem we liked the hotel and breakfast was good.

Reviewed By santjordiI stayed in restaurant building. Nice clean room, mostly filled by the bed. A beautiful ocean view. The breakfasts were fine, but not special. Hotel has a great pool and “chill out” bar. Restaurant has large selection of very fresh fish
