Door County's first motel has been lovingly restored. Clean, comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff, great amenities, low rates, and an unbeatable location. We host live music weekly all year round!
We went for the largest room, which has plenty of space. It's a quick walk to restaurants, or there's a food truck on the premises too. The steel bridge is within walking distance, and the Holiday Music Motel is an excellent place to make your base for day trips up into the Door County peninsula, such as Peninsula State Park, Baileys Harbor and the Cana Island Lighthouse, and of course the Sturgeon Bay attractions. The innkeepers have put so much thought into the amenities -- there are even clips to hold the drapes shut for complete darkness if you desire. And the music memorabilia around the motel is fascinating. You can bring your own food and eat at the vintage dining counter, using the motel's homey real dishes and glasses.

It is not in my nature to disparage hotels or restaurants, especially during a pandemic. Most hospitality establishments work hard to serve their customers and provide a pleasant eating or lodging experience. But where health and safety is concerned, especially during a pandemic, there are other factors to consider. Which is why I’ve ruminated before writing this review. Last Fall, returning from a weekend in Door County, we booked rooms at The Lodge at Leathem Smith, in Sturgeon Bay, because of the interesting history of the property and the resort’s website confirmation it adheres to “enhanced health & safety standards” and that the “Property is cleaned with disinfectant.” We arrived after 6:00pm and found no one at the front desk. Just a note to call a room in the hotel which, as it turned out, housed a manager or assistant. He checked us in and pointed the way to our rooms. Not a good beginning. Considering health and safety, we were shocked to find our rooms to be in appalling conditions. But given the hour and the lack of housing options, had no choice but to bite our lip and stay the night. The bathrooms were filthy. Mold on the tiles. Mold or dirt in the bottom of the tub. In our room one of the doors in the sink cabinet is falling off the hinges. Ohhh, and the bathroom door is warped and won't close. The waste basket in the bathroom had not been emptied from the previous guest. And most appalling, the dirt and grime on the bathroom tile and the bottom of the tub was, to put it mildly, disgusting. Look at the picture of the tub that accompanies this review. I hope that the owner can recover from what the pandemic has wrought. But for us, on our next trip to Door County, we will look elsewhere —and more suspiciously— before booking lodging somewhere else.

Nestled within Sturgeon Bay's downtown Historic district - Inn at Cedar Crossing is the perfect spot from which to explore Door County or just relax and hide away. Our nine inviting guestrooms are individually decorated, have private bathrooms and all the modern conveniences, including wireless internet access. Many feature cozy fireplace. We enjoyed our stay at the Inn. Deb was so friendly and knowledgeable with the area and directions. Our room was very clean, spacious, with a back porch and a cozy fireplace. The internet speed was great, The restaurant was delicious, had a friendly wait staff, and was reasonably priced. We always got a parking spot and were shocked at how quiet this inn was as it is downtown. All around Awesome! Will be back!!

***ATTENTION: DON’T EVER STAY HERE*** First off I travel frequently for business and have Diamond status at Choice Hotels and Best Western and I’m Spire at IHG. I average 100 nights in hotels per year and this is the absolute worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Shame on Choice Hotels for not dropping this location. I stayed one night at the Quality Inn Sturgeon Bay and I can guarantee you I’ll never stay there again and warn anyone considering to avoid at all costs. Stay at the Best Western as the rooms are always clean. I chose to stay at the Quality Inn during one of Choice Hotels “Stay Twice Earn a $50 Gift Card” promotions and it was in no way worth the reward. Upon arriving in my room I noticed the bathroom walls covered in mold and the bathroom floor filthy and covered in hair. The bed skirt and sheets were stained with bodily fluids. The hair and dead skin cells below the headboard was atrocious. Particle board desk and refrigerator cabinet were falling apart and water damaged. I was on the first floor and the window screen had a tear that was large enough for an adult to fit through. I can only speculate that it was left from either an intruder or previous guest escaping the filth. The room I was in apparently had an ant infestation issue as there was a Terro ant trap behind the chair. This location obviously doesn’t use a professional pest control service. The room had an awful musty stench too. I slept on top of the bedding as I wouldn’t crawl under the sheets. In the morning I covered the bathroom floor in towels as I wouldn’t step barefoot on the tile or carpet. I relayed all of this information to Choice Hotels and they never responded. This was the absolute worst hotel experience in my life. @Quality Inn Sturgeon Bay Management: Don’t bother responding to my review with your apologies that never get addressed. Rather spend the time needed to respond by doing something productive (e.g., scrub mold off a bathroom wall or vacuum).

Reasonable rates, very nice rooms. Beach Harbor Resort is about FUN! This family-owned motel is just 2 miles to downtown and right on the water in Sturgeon Bay. All rooms are clean, comfortable, and equipped with a refrigerator, microwave and wireless internet. Enjoy resort's picnic areas, sand beach, nightly bonfires, walks into the adjoining State park and more! Fishing has been great off the docks or the front desk can set you up with a fishing charter guaranteed to catch fish any time of year. Door County Boat Rentals is located on the property for fun on the water. Also enjoy Waterfront Mary's bar & grill located at Beach Harbor with their outside tiki bar and great food!
The room was very clean. Not a 5 star hotel but you are not paying for it either. The staff was amazing and friendly. Stayed for 3 nights in October. The bar and grill was a lot of fun. Very relaxed place to go. Kind of out of the way but worth it. If you don't care about the finest room or the finest food this place will suit you and your family just fine. Would love to go in the summer. Right on the water with plenty to do. If you go have fun. I know you will.
