Things at the property needed some attention. Pool broken. Floor moldings broken, holes in bath towels, food left in refrigerator by previous guests was not removed for room change over, floors dirty. Knives were out at breakfast for the 5 days we stayed. Internet non-existent. Juice machine broken. But, the location was very good and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

I scratch my head reading anything less than superb reviews on this lovingly, carefully renovated treasure. We arrived last evening to an elegantly lit, flower adorned classic, beautiful hotel. David and his team have preserved a charming morsel of Starkville history and we are both grateful, and appreciative, of his undertaking. Anyone who has restored a home, let alone a sizable hotel can only appreciate what is required to accomplish this. Our stay in a spacious Deluxe Gordon Ramsey features a very comfortable king bed, abundant pillows, impeccably clean. High ceilings with crown moulding, lovely contemporary yet traditional artwork adorn, delightful complementary toiletries. There is a wet bar, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. We were greeted by David and his darling, well behaved schnauzer Sam. That I read a negative review on sweet, friendly and gentle Sam says it all—sour guests, who would be better suited at a lesser cookie cutter hotel. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Thank you, Dave, we salute you!. We cannot wait to return and with more free time to enjoy downtown Starkville.

You walk in and there is this over powering smell of mildew. We stayed because they had an indoor pool. It was dirty and unclean, so we end up sitting in a hot tub that didn’t have hot water. The pool room was in shambles. Then our rooms had a bad smell. Key entry didn’t work. After the third time we finally got in. No room service. Food was terrible, bar was just as bad. Bartender sitting down on his phone . Phone in the room didn’t work. Computer connections were from the 1990’s. Couldn’t charge my phone because connections were so outdated. Just a horrible experience. It’s amazing Corp hasn’t come in to do an overhaul on this property .

The management and owners of this hotel should be ashamed. My husband and I have stayed here before and the hotel was decent. This time has been a totally different story. We were given a room that at first glance was questionable but we were tired so we were going to just nap and leave. We were EXTREMELY tired after spending all day helping our daughter move into her dorm. However upon entering the bathroom, I lost it. It was absolutely DISGUSTING! I have stayed in hundreds of hotels at all levels and the bathroom in this room was the WORST ever. Black mold, peeling and rust in the tub, lime scale, broken baseboards just pure unadulterated disgustingness. The room should not have been made available to anyone! We requested another room and were given one a few doors over and at that point, at 4 am in the morning I was enraged. We made a pointless call to the toll free customer service number and were told that we would have to resolve it with the hotel directly. We were then given another room that had an absolutely filthy carpet and tub with a nasty black chip in it and mold around it was well. At that point I made a very firm request to get my money or a room with no mold (myself and my husband have allergies and mold is just not good for anyone to be around. The 4th room FINALLY had a decent bathroom, carpet and furniture. I use the term decent loosely. It was still not as clean as it should be and the hall on the floor was covered in dirt. At 5 am in the morning I am over it. My suggestion is if you are okay staying in a filthy, nasty, disgusting hotel room go to this is your place, if not, drive to the next town so that your trip is not ruined. My advice to management, shut the rooms down on the 2nd floor! EVERY LAST ONE IF THEM. Otherwise, someone is going to sue you for exposing them to mold. You should also have some integrity, properly upgrade your room and do what you need to do in order to make sure you are not exposing people to mold. The whole place needs remediation. You are jeopardizing peoples health And maybe even lives. I will . NEVER!!!

I am really tiring of signage at hotels in my face about how much they care about my health and how they are going above and beyond with cleaning and then I am subjected to the following: 1) Breakfast area a trashed mess! Filthy tables, debris (food waste/plates/cups) and over flowing trash... AT ONE O'CLOCK IN THE AFTERNOON!!! 2) Overflowing trash outside 3) No coffee cups or coffee at the coffee service set up in the lobby ALL of which makes me wonder how clean the room was!!!

I purchased a $10 full breakfast when I reserved the room. I was told at breakfast this morning that was just a discount amount for the actually breakfast. I’m disappointed this deceptive practice is going on here. It’s not right, and think it should be removed from the reservation site.

This last minute booking would not have been my first choice for a quick weekend to see our son at MSU but it was clean and comfortable. The room needed updating and 2 nightstands would have been nice rather than one. The office staff was nice. The biggest issue for us was no coffee. A small pot or a K-cup maker in the room would have been great. Walking to the gas station next door for coffee made me really not want to book here again. The bar/pub across the parking lot was entertaining and served what looked like good pizza. (we did not eat there). The bar was busy and a bit loud until about 1 a.m. both nights. Maybe a room more distance from the bar would be better.
