Long the home of Portugal’s monarchs, Sintra is a magnificent town of marvelous historic mansions, all set against the backdrop of lush hills. Sintra’s many castles include the Palácio Nacional de Sintra (a main abode of Portuguese royalty until the early 20th century), the hilltop and storybook Palácio da Pena, Quinta de Regaleira (incorporating several architectural styles and with gorgeous surrounding gardens), the Castelo dos Mouros (Moorish Castle), and the Palácio de Monserrate.

In 2001 we drove by a quaint, beautiful, old rose colored chalet in Sintra with a > sign hanging on a white door. Having searched for months for a home in Sintra, the locale of Luis' dream place to live, we thought - why not look at this charming "fixer upper"? It was nearly sundown when we entered the beautiful rooms with painted high ceilings and as the light flowed through the winter veranda overlooking the lush green gardens it was love at first sight. A dozen years later and having lived through rainy humid winters with old cracked windows and creaky floors, our home is completely restored and refurbished. It has taken four long years but the outcome is better than expected as we have stayed true to the style and essence of this peculiar type of architecture. The chalet style was imported at the end of the XIX century from the Alps and was used to build vacation homes throughout Portugal. Now our home and guesthouse is enjoying its second life and we hope to continue our mission that we have developed at our cafe - Cafe Saudade. This cafe is a few meters from the chalet and it is here where breakfast is served all day to our guests. Our mission is to provide, with the utmost quality, an authentic Portuguese experience to all of our visitors to Sintra. We hope this is what you experience when you stay with us. Cheers, and long life to the old-new Chalet Saudade!
An old villa converted into a quaint hotel. Clean and attractive however, being an old house on the hill our room was in -2 floor with no elevator and we can hear the water flushing and running in the pipes. It is affiliated with a Saudades breakfast restaurant that is to die for… out of this world delicious breakfast and amazing service.

More than just a five-star Sintra hotel, a luxurious and romantic palace which takes us back to the days of the elegance and architecture of the XVIII century. On the mountainside of Sintra, a town classified as world heritage by UNESCO, and with spectacular views of the Moorish Castle and Pena Palace, enjoy the magnificent surroundings of lush gardens and spectacular scenery. The beautifully decorated rooms with furnishings of extraordinary wealth and the ballrooms with their rich tapestries and incredible frescos make this hotel something quite unique and every event or stay becomes an unforgettable experience. Spend idle hours wandering the mazes or enjoy them from a distance in the comfort of our Seteais Restaurant while you sample the traditional Portuguese cuisine of our master Chef. Rediscover this incredible Sintra castle hotel, now refurbished to surprise.
My wife and I really loved our visit to Sintra. and Tivoli Palacio de Seteais hotel. I would firstly like to say that the hotel and our room was absolutely lovely and the staff are wonderful. The hotel decor is splendid throughout and the pool and garden areas were impeccable. A truly relaxing stay. Unfortunately we do have to highlight a few issues which we feel it’s important to mention. This will hopefully enable the management to improve the experience for future guests. Firstly the hotel did not acknowledge or cater for my wife’s dietary requirements as requested during our booking confirmation. My wife has a specific dietary requirement as she is Coeliac (strict gluten free diet) The hotel website stated that they were able to offer alternative options for gluten free. The hotel management actually did not respond or act on this request whatsoever. My wife basically could not eat most of the food on the restaurant menu. I had to repeatedly explain the situation with all the restaurant staff daily, breakfast lunch and dinner. The staff were really helpful but struggled to understand what Coeliac or gluten free even was! This hotel clearly states on its websites that it caters for gluten free guests needs. This transpired to be toast/bread at breakfast and salads plain meat and fish deconstructed only with our intervention. This becomes boring for both my wife and the waiters not forgetting the chef who I’m sure could have done more if only the hotel management had informed them of our dietary requirements in advance. Considering this hotel is classes itself as a high level and luxury brand catering for all needs, the management have failed both its customers and it’s hard working staff completely. I don’t like complaining but this hotel is not inexpensive and the restaurant offers a high quality fine dining experience with wonderful tasting menus which both my wife and I would have loved to have eaten. I would not contemplate selecting these menus when my wife was unable to have them. We both had to pull back on our dining experience which was a great disappointment indeed especially as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary during our vacation in Sintra. Again this was highlighted to the management in an email directly to the Tivoli hotels. They failed to respond or acknowledge my email with a reply. I would normally have discussed this situation with the hotel management during our stay. But on this occasion I did not wish to debate at the hotel and get into a discussion at checkout which would only add further pain to our somewhat spoilt anniversary vacation. As I say it’s not the fault of the hotel staff but a failure by the hotel management and owners. It’s a great shame and disappointment as the hotel itself is wonderful and the staff try hard to please the customers. My wife and I really hope the hotel improves its customer support and acts on emails requesting dietary requirements in future. Many dietary requirements not only have uncomfortable side effects but can be fatal. Most quality hotels and restaurants across the world have specifically trained staff for dietary restrictions. Please note: Coeliac “British” Celiac “medical” disease is an autoimmune disorder. Cross contamination with other Gluten food products causes dangerous effects and sometimes fatal symptoms. The bodies immune system attacks itself. It’s now being discovered that over 20% of the world’s population suffers from different variations the condition. Once again your hotel is wonderful and as we saw, many young couples and family’s enjoy it as a wedding venue. I think it would be worth providing dietary training for your fabulous staff going forward. Please forward this email to the hotel management.

This was our first time in Sintra and our experience would not be the same without the outstanding service the staff provided. Location is also great with a very modern clean room. Highly recommend for new travelers to Portugal

Sintra 10&12 is a newly renovated Boutique Guest House located at the heart of Sintra’s downtown historic centre. It is made of some of the town's oldest buildings including the original Roman theatre and 17th century houses. We offer our guest lodging options from family villas, to classic suites, double rooms and boutique family rooms and villas, together with a full and warm breakfast.
We spent 2 nights at Sintra 1012 Boutique Guest House. It was perfect! Great location, beautiful clean room- we got the one with the terrace! Karen was wonderful!! I wish we did not stay in Lisbon first and stayed here longer and just day tripped into Lisbon. Sintra gets crazy crowded during the day. The best time to enjoy the town is early morning or late afternoon.

We booked flights for a 3-week trip to Portugal, our very first to that country. Portuguese friends in San Francisco highly recommended Sintra Jardim where they stay on all their trips to Lisbon. They even gave us their favorite room number, one overlooking the gardens and we decided to book it as our base, doing day trips from Sintra. Susanna and Maria were woderful and even took the time to give us advice about our entire itinerary. But last week my doctor insisted that we cancel b/c of my compromised immune system so regrettably we did. The hotel was great about it and we got a full refund with the hope of coming in the future which we intend to do! Our only warning is DO NOT BOOK THROUGH BOOKING.COM, not this or any hotel, because if you have to change or cancel they are impossible to reach! Book through the hotel directly. Better deals, personally service, and it means working directly with the people who can make things happen. Booking.com intentionally makes it difficult if not impossible to call or reach anyone, not even by email!!! Enjoy Hotel Sintra Jardim! And enjoy Portugal!

Right in the centre of the town of Sintra, this is a discreet 4-star Sintra Portugal hotel with private parking which gives you the perfect opportunity to enjoy the surrounding scenery, history and leisure facilities. Sintra is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Breakfast in the Monserrate restaurant at Tivoli Sintra allows you to enjoy the quality food at this welcoming and friendly Central Sintra hotel. The view from the panoramic bar reveals its stunning location: between the Serra de Sintra and the Palacio da Vila, where the sea can just be seen on the horizon.
We had a great experience at this hotel. As Americans we find most of the beds in Europe too hard. The mattresses here for the first time on our trip were soft. For us, ideal. The hotel is centrally located, high class, and frankly I am surprised as to why they don't have more five star reviews. They put out a great breakfast spread. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at another Tivoli hotel. Special thanks to the very accommodating front desk staff.

It features simply decorated rooms and free Wi-Fi.With mountain views, recently renovated rooms at Hotel Nova Sintra come equipped with a satellite TV. They are all uniquely furnished with decorative headboards and antique furniture.Guests can enjoy a breakfast on the patio or the sun terrace. Indoors, there is a small living room that functions as a restaurant and lobby area, serving traditional Portuguese dishes. The villa is situated 1 km from the historical centre and 5 km from the Pena Palace. With the hotel’s car rental service, guests can easily visit Lisbon, a 30-minute drive away.
Rui at the Nova Sintra will pretty much make sure you have the best time here. His service is incredible, a really lovely man. The hotel is in a lovely place and the terrace has one of the best views of the Moorish Castle up on the hill, breakfast on there in the dappled sunshine is just delightful. The breakfast buffet is good too. We went with Rui's tips on where to eat at night and they were great, he even called to book tables for us (I told you he was great!) Cascais beach is a short Uber ride away and so the warmest day we went out there to walk and swim. The walk up to Sintra castle is amazing with what feels like a botanical garden collection on the way up. The little shops and cafes in the old town are lovely too. If we come back to Sintra we wouldn't think about staying anywhere else.

Rooms were very clean and beds fairly comfortable. Staff are polite and attentive. Outdoor pool is quite small but the indoor pool is of a good size. Breakfast wasn’t bad but was not fantastic. Overall we had a good stay and would recommend it.

Unfortunately, our expectations were completely dashed!!! We asked and paid for a double room, exquisite as you would expect from the photos, and it turned out that we were presented with an annex outside the main house that had nothing to do with the rest of the decor and style of the place it promotes. Worse yet, was the disappointment with the breakfast. It is nothing like what they say at booking or promote on their site, nothing like in the pictures. As we were on the last shift, at 10am, there was practically nothing left to eat, the tables were mostly pre-occupied and therefore dirty to clean, and the staff in the kitchen bantering instead of replacing the things that should be in this "excellent breakfast". It was a big disappointment, unfortunately and certainly, we will not be back.

This hotel has heaps of potential and lovely rooms. The views are gorgeous. The indoor pool needs to be reserved but when we went down at our allotted time it was crowded (mainly children) in the pool and surrounding area. Towels are a complicated experience with towel cards. The breakfast buffet is varied but coffee is not good. The only option for dinner is a buffet for €30 in the huge breakfast hall/canteen. It is really REALLY noisy and rather a stressful experience. Your only dining alternative is bar snacks or to drive into Sintra (about 15 minutes). Nothing about it is 5 star. Definitely needs to be rated lower. Would not recommend for couples - seems great for families.
