Harsha The Fern, Shivamogga is an upscale 88 room business hotel, well suited for both business & leisure travellers and is also a wedding destination. The hotel offers a multi cuisine restaurant, lounge bar, meeting & banquet halls with modern amenities for conferences and social events. Harsha The Fern is an ideal place to experience upscale hospitality.
We booked a winter premier room and were informed that the room is big enough to occupy three people and a suite was not required, however the room is pretty congested and when we checked in the toiletries weren't even kept and the shower cubicle wasn't perfect, the extra bed provided was too uncomfortable. However, the food from Thyme was good. And the complimentary breakfast was not upto the mark. The hotel definitely has to improve standards to attract more visitors.

Located in a region that is densely forested, the Jog Falls, also known as Gerusoppa, is India's highest waterfalls. Ranked among the world's best, the spectacular cascade sees the Sharavati River leap 956 feet into a gorge with a thunderous roar. Four distinct cascades - known locally as Raja, Rani, Roarer and Rocket, are created with arching rainbows formed by the sunlight hitting the spray from the falls. Steps lead down to the deep pool at the bottom. Karnataka Hotels Jog Falls is located right opposite the falls and offers a magnificent view of it. The hotel has two blocks, Tunga and Sharavati. Tunga has a total of 10 rooms, 5 of them two-bedded, 2 of them three-bedded and 1 four-bedded, with the other two offering dormitory style accommodation. Sharavati offers more non-AC options. A restaurant operates within the complex and the hotel also can organize sight-seeing trips for guests.
Hotel is not well maintained as its a Govt property. Expected it to be clean but was ok and felt like staying in a lodge. Bedding was not very clean and the property did not have an attached restaurant. It is located a little far and each time wanted to have a meal had to walk down without any room service. Overall not a very great experience staying in a property which charges a 3-star price and provides a lodge kind of experience. Rooms were bigger and had enough space and for a change bathrooms were new and clean.

Located just 6 Km from the Jog Falls, Sharavathi Adventure Camp combines the grandeur of the plush mountains with a dash of adventure. Tucked snugly on the slopes of a hillock skirting the Talakalale Reservoir, this resort is a great place to revere the invigorating melange of sunshine and rain. Every season brings a new reason to visit these salubrious mountains.
It's An awesome place. It's on the side of the talakalele reservoir. They have some 18 cottages to offer and most of them provide a nice view. Don't miss out the sunset view from balcony. Cottages are 1 bedroom 1 bathroom 1 balcony away from each other cottages. Reaching some of the cottages need some amount of steps, walking and climbing. There is a boat ride, kayaking, swimming etc already part of the package. But jetski is charged extra. They take for 30 minutes of ride itself. On the first day afternoon we did all these and really enjoyed boating and kayaking. Next day morning they took us to Jog falls, showed both front and side views. On the way also some bird watching experience. By the time we are back from jog falls, it was time for breakfast and then freshen up and check out. Based on our experience, the following suggestions: Day1: check-in at 1 pm, you can also have lunch here they will call you to confirm your veg/non-veg preference Have lunch and take some rest 4 pm they start boating and water activities 545 to 6 pm watch sunset, from balcony preferably Dinner at 8 or 9 pm Day2: Tea served at 645 am Vehicle to jog falls at 7am or 715 am Option to go for a nature Trek instead of jog falls Food they serve is simple but tasty. Also the staff is friendly and nice Tip: if possible avoid weekend rush and book on a Friday or Monday stay.

Hotel Jai Maata Grandeur is a Premium Business cum Leisure hotel in the entrance of Shimoga, a city popularly known as the rice bowl/bread basket of Karnataka. It is strategically located in the rapidly developing city of Shimoga, with close proximity to some landmark business and leisure destinations.
hotel is situated very close to Bhadravati higway, sakrebailu , city center is hardly 3 KM, we stayed in hotel for 2 nights 3 days, check in and check out was super fast, very friendly staff and they attend to all our requirements, hotel furniture and bathroom fittings needs repair, but rooms were neat and clean since its not centrally AC hotel, so we could hear sound of AC during sleep, parking space is limited and its on first come first serve basis,

My wife and I had a wonderful 5-day stay at Barekal. Mr Vikram and his team were very warm and welcoming during our trip. Ashoka, was always available to meet any requests we had. The food was healthy, hearty and close to nature. We loved the delicious filter coffee and the kashayam the staff provided on cold evenings. The various payasams at the end of the meal were a treat. It was a wonderful surprise when the staff arranged a bonfire dinner for us, not once but twice during our stay. The hotel is about an hour away from Shimoga town, and about an hour and a half from Jog falls, but there are many places to visit close by as well. We were taken on a guided walk around the farm and we visited Nagara Fort, Devagange, Aghoreshwara temple in Ikkeri and several dams. Don't miss the boat ride in the Saravati backwaters. I forget the name of the person who took us on the ride, but it is a wonderful experience. Enquire at the hotel for information about this.
