It was our first trip to The Azores (Sao Miguel specifically). We came upon this location on a travel site (Travel Zoo, sorry Trip Advisor, hehe). The destination appeared to us as relatively inexpensive trip, a direct flight to the island from near our home (United Airlines from Newark, N.J.), currently Covid and politically "safe", and simply somewhere we've never been. We traveled May 27-June 5. First thing to know is the weather is ever changing there, even in the course of a day. We went from rain, to sun, to cool , to 75 degrees regularly. Our advice is to pack smartly for how you deal with these changing conditions. A good weather app on your phone to monitor the conditions will be helpful before you travel. The entire staff was helpful, pleasant, and knowledgeable. From the front desk staff, to the manager/concierge(s), to the restaurant servers, to housekeeping, each person we encountered was friendly and helpful. At times there is some language issues, but not enough to matter. Remember "Obligado" or "Obligad"..this is thank you in Portuguese and the Azorian dialect respectively. It will get you far..hehe We saw soooo many beautiful parts of this island. Amazing shorelines, mountains, volcanoes, hot springs, botanical gardens, hiking areas etc. I would say this is not a "beach" destination as many might think. We had tours with (2) separate companies and they were both perfect to enjoy the the must see points on the island. Being first timers, we need this. Our tour day 1 was with Sammy of Green Corner Tours (greencornertours.com). His knowledge of the island history and must see points made for a great day. Lunch and drinks were included for approximately $70 pp. Our tour day 2 was a full day Jeep tour with Riccardo of Greenzone Azores Tours. A true local (born and raised), Riccardo was the best!! The others in our group were also U.S. rookies like us so it was a great day. Look Greenzone up here on TripAdvisor. Lunch and drinks were included for approximately $70 pp. We also did a walking food/history tour of Ponta Delgado with Hungry Whales Cultural and Food Tours. This was also great to see this historical city at approximately $75 pp. Be aware of the current exchange rate of dollars to Euros. Most told us the people are not expecting to being tipped, but certainly appreciate it. The language spoken there is Portuguese, but most people we encountered spoke English, no worries. DEFINITELY WILL RETURN!!

Thank you for the accommodations and service Furnas Boutique! Most of my sentiments will echo the excellent reviews already written, so I'll just add one tip: the 65 Euro airport shuttle service that the hotel offers is much pricier than what you'll get from the cab drivers at the airport. Avoid it and use one of the cabbies lined up at the airport instead. Sharing a picture of the cab driver we used as he was very friendly, responsive and available within minutes to pick us up. He can be reached via whatsapp. His pricing was much more reasonable. Also, the spa was fun and relaxing, but I have definitely had better facials elsewhere. Very friendly, polite and helpful staff. Thanks to Octant for packing us breakfast for the early airport departure.

Pestana Bahia Praia is a 4-star hotel located on the Azores Archipelago, on São Miguel Island, with direct access to the Baia de Água d'Alto Beach and with fantastic views of the Atlantic Ocean. São Miguel Island is the largest of the archipelago and has strong links with the sea and nature. Throughout your entire stay, you will be able to enjoy an external fresh-water swimming pool, two restaurants and a bar. In your free time, play a game of tennis on one of the two courts, play in the game room or stroll through the expansive garden which features a chapel from the 17th century. The rooms are spacious, were recently remodelled, feature modern furniture and each is equipped with a flatscreen TV and Wi-Fi.
We had an amazing stay in an ocean view room(upgraded to suite on checkin). The sounds of the sea could be enjoyed from our room. The staff were friendly & helpful. This grand hotel has incredible grounds & seaside ocean views. Our room was attractively decorated with sm refrigerator. No coffee/tea facilities. Updates have been made but remember the hotel still carries the grandeur of its 35 yrs age. Plenty of space in the public areas to distance from others, post-Covid. The buffet dinner had a fine selection of food. We also ate a few dinners at a nearby seaside bar & grill (walking distance along the beach) which proved to be a nice simple alternative to hotel dining. The buffet breakfasts were vast with plenty to choose, a staff member on frying pan for custom eggs. Definitely a car is needed as this is located in a rural setting, but only 5-10 mins away from a big grocery store in Vila Franca do Campo. We spent 4 nights here & wished we’d more time to enjoy Sao Miguel. This was our second time to the island. Don’t hesitate to book, as this hotel is truly an experience in itself!

Stayed for a week with my sister in November 2021. First, may I say that all the waiting staff in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner as well as in the bar during our stay were very pleasant and amicable. We ate frequently in the restaurant during our stay and we were happy with the choice of food, how it was cooked and the members of staff that served our table. We also ate in the bar and had similar pleasant experience and enjoyed the cocktail happy hour :) We also had the opportunity to use the wellness center. We were very pleased with our Swedish massage and the hot stone massage and the therapists were very nice and pleasant as well as professional. I used the wellness center (pool, jacuzzi and Turkish baths) and again can report that these were very clean. The gardens were well maintained and all in all it was a very pleasant experience and up to our expectations. The hotel is clean, modern and very centrally located.

Inspired by the nautical atmosphere that surrounds it, Hotel Marina Atlântico invites you to a harmonious experience of welcome and comfort. + Outdoor and indoor swimming pools + View from the outdoor pool + Breakfast choice is large: ham, sausage, scrambled eggs, eggs, beans, buns, bread, soft bread, jam, honey, almond, cereals, fruits, ..... + Very helpful staff. You remark it especially when you face a problem.... + Possibility to rent a car from the hotel + Free WiFi of course - Humidity in the room after taken a shower. Would be wise to improve the HVAC, to get ride of it. - Tiles of the terrace would need a refurbishment.

After working in health care for past 2.5 years and being vaccinated and boostered x2 we decided to travel. We stayed at Verde Mar and Spa in Ribera Grande The hotel was lovely ,the room overlooked the ocean with a small balcony. The pools inside and out were clean and all areas were well maintained . Unfortunately we both became positive for Covid the day before we were leaving to go home. The hotel manager along with all the staff could not have been nicer to us . We had to quarantine for five days and Caterina ,the hotel manager sent breakfast daily to our room along with fruits and even a picnic basket so we could sit outside and eat. Every staff member was thoughtful and kind. Caterina even helped explain what we had to do and where to go for official testing. I hope no one has to go through this but ..... the people at this hotel could not have been nicer or more accommodating

The hotel is situated in the most amazing location, front row view of the Atlantic ocean. All rooms have ocean view, though the rooms on the 1st and 2nd floor have the very best view. The rooms are spacious and clean, but the hotel does not provide much toiletries, so bring your own shampoo etc. In the room you have a water boiler and some tea and instant coffee, but no Nespresso like machine. The breakfast is served buffet style and the quality is fine, but there is not very much choice and the price is high. Same as with the diner, there are better and cheaper options to be found in the excellent restaurants (try Bar Caloura for amazing fresh seafood dishes!). Overall I would book this hotel again, as the location just does not get any better then this. But since it is a little remote, a rental car is a must. Also to get to the nearby village, beware, the road is very steep to walk!

Vila Nova's guest rooms are decorated in blue and grey tones. They include a minibar, extra long beds and a private bathroom with bathtub and shower. Guests can enjoy a daily breakfast buffet and dinner in the poolside Atlantis Room. The Vila Nova bar serves exotic cocktails and crispy afternoon snacks. The swimming pool area has a large sun terrace with sun loungers and parasols. After a busy day, guests can enjoy a refreshing dive or play some billiards in the games room. My Story Hotel Vila Nova is located 5 km from Milicias Ocean Beach and 4 km from Pope John Paul II International Airport.
Facility needs some repairs, but the staff is helpful and polite. Fairly close location to the airport. About a 10 minute walk to Old Town section. Has a pool, bar, and restaurant. Stayed for two nights with a reasonable value. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. WiFi signal was also good. There are a few paid private parking spots in a secure area. Also, a decent amount of on-street parking.

We spent in this little corner of paradise two nights and three days in April 2022. Everything was perfect, starting from the upgrade of the room into one of the two cabin sorrounded by vegetation, the breakfast, the dinner, only positive feedbacks. But mostly I have to say that the whole staff was available and really kind. They helped me since the booking in planning a special night. Must try the hot tub in the greenhouse. You can't lose the opportunity to stay here if you are in Ponta Delgada!
