A lovely Sardinian experience
Reviewed By CatherineMcDoThe Hotel Rocco Sarde is visually stunning, set amongst beautiful well tended gardens and scenic rocks. We stayed in a Junior Suite with a sea view. The view from the room was magical! have never stayed anywhere with such a glorious view. Our room had a terrace, which was perfect. It was spacious and clean. We enjoyed having the lovely hotel cat come to visit us each morning too. The restaurant prepared us delicious, incredibly well presented dishes, all vegetarian as I had requested by email. The breakfasts were just lovely, eggs cooked to order, a big display of bread, cakes, cereal, fruit and cheese. The pastries were particularly good. All the staff in the restaurant were smartly dressed and couldn’t have been any more courteous or helpful. I asked to be moved to sit at a table in the panoramic terrace and the Maître d' obliged which I was very pleased about. The evening meals consisted of a buffet then two courses and dessert. The wine was very reasonable and you could save your bottle for the next evening. The entertainment at the restaurant is was very enjoyable. We loved listening to the pianist who played a range of songs, from Disney to the Beatles. We also enjoyed watching the Sardinian dancers. The pool was set amongst the rocks and nearly always quiet, with a lovely bar for drinks and tasty lunches. The staff working at the pool bar were very polite and helpful, particularly the friendly young gentleman. Plenty of sunbeds, and a relaxing area to read and sunbathe. The beach was Rene Bianca and a shuttle bus was provided to take and pick you up. The beach was the cleanest I have ever been to in the Mediterranean. White sand, clear warm water, sunbeds and umbrellas-to hire. 35euros cash or card for 3 beds and one umbrella. On the beach there is one bar, Pedros where you can buy delicious food and drinks and if you keep your receipt use their facilities. The nearest village is San Pantaleo. It’s a doable walk but remember to come back while it’s still light. The hotel was unable to ring a local taxi to the village and the cost is 50euros as they come from Olbia, so we walked instead. The village is well worth a visit. We went for dinner one night, and to the market on Thursday and had lunch after. It’s very pretty and authentic.

Reviewed By dyonv232Hotel Arathena is a 2 minute walk from the centre square of San Pantaleone, the rooms and facilities are spread across several levels, connected by stairs. I found it very charming though if you have trouble with stairs then you probably will have some difficulty navigating the hotel. Definitely try out the restaurant at the hotel, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The food is prepared well, and the patio is a nice place to sit. Rooms are clean, our room had a great view of the surrounding valley. The same view can be head from the pool, quite the experience. Check in went smoothly, luggage was brought to our room promptly. We traveled just before the busy season, so I can't comment on how things go at full capacity, but since it is a smaller hotel I don't think it will ever feel too crowded.

Disappointing
Reviewed By DreLessHard to find, as the sign on the road is hidden by bushes. We had the smallest room at 95€ and this felt overpriced. We could hear the sound of the road from our bed and the wall between our room and the next was paper thin. The wifi did not reach our room. There was also very little space to store our bags in the room. The view at breakfast was beautiful, but the food was average by Sardinian standards.

Parking for motorbike down the side of the hotel. Good breakfast and nice bars near the church. Ride around Sardinia, it's brilliant.

A really beautiful hotel
Reviewed By MaryindevonFour of us stayed here for 3 nights and didn't want to leave! The hotel is very clean, and a lot of trouble has been taken with making the common spaces tranquil and lovely to use. The bathrooms were very pretty, and although we didn't have a great view our room was quiet and the air-conditioning was useful. The pool was clean with both shaded and sunny areas around it, and our daughter particularly liked the hammock. We didn't find the pool busy and there were lots of loungers and chairs available. The hotel breakfast had a good selection (including cake - I approve!) with wonderful coffee. We didn't eat in the hotel for dinner because it's largely seafood which we don't enjoy, however the restaurant looked busy each night and had a lovely atmosphere. There are other places to eat nearby, but you have to book in high season. San Pantaleo is very pretty to walk around at night, and has a good atmosphere; we came across an open air mass in the village square on Sunday. Market day is Thursday. I would say that's not the best day to see San Pantaleo because the traffic is overwhelming and pretty much the same stalls are at other towns with easier access/parking (Palau, Cannigione). The hotel has private parking in a car park to the side of the hotel with some covered spaces. We really enjoyed our stay, the staff were always friendly and attentive, and very much hope we can return one day. Thank you Hotel San Pantaleo!

Disappointing Experience
Reviewed By blaze0My partner and I stayed at Li Neuli as part of a trip to Sardinia last week. We were both really looking forward to our stay but have to say we were quite disappointed with the overall experience. The setting of the country club and the bungalows were really lovely, and we also really enjoyed the food and cocktails at the restaurant. It may have been the time of year, but the whole place was totally lacking in atmosphere, we seemed to be the only guests staying there and again there was nobody at the restaurant whilst we were eating dinner. What we found most surprising however was that there was no lunch or cocktails menus or wine list, and rather than being able to chose what we wanted to eat or drink we had to instead rely upon the waiter’s suggestions - Li Neuli advertise their wine cellar on their website which I was looking forward to experiencing but was not really able to. I ended up drinking two glasses of white wine selected by our waiter which I did not enjoy. We felt quite awkward not being able to select our own wine based on what we liked and also taking price into consideration. We were therefore forced to ask how much the wine cost which made us feel rather uncomfortable. Finally, my partner called in advance to notify Li Neuli that we had got engaged the day we were due to arrive, and for a 5* country club I would have expected them to say congratulations or something to make us feel a little bit special, but this was not the case and I would have expected more from a 5* country club. The tennis courts are also in really bad shape and I would be surprised if anybody could use them! Overall, we left Li Neuli feeling quite disappointed and would not go back based on this experience

Amazing hotel
Reviewed By minkinseyStayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed every moment. We were lucky to have a suite with pool facing the sea. But split our time in our room and larger pool. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was amazing. Best part was the great team who work there and took care of us. They organised a private sailing trip to Corsica and all external excursions. Will definitely be back

The B & B La Porta sulla costa is a large and bright bed & breakfast, located on the ground floor and is fully independent and recently renovated. It consists of three double bedrooms with the possibility of turning them into quadruple rooms. Each room is made unique by the presence of beautiful murals representing the beautiful beaches of the Costa Smeralda, paintings by solar hostess. All the rooms have private bath, TV and air conditioner to adjust to your liking the room temperature. We will provide you towels and sheets. The entrance also allows you to enter and exit freely without any constraint of time. Breakfast is served during the fine weather, in the garden, under a beautiful gazebo full of sweets, cakes, cereals, jam, chocolate and so on and so forth !!!!! The granite village of San Pantaleo is located in a strategic position for those who want to live the life of the Costa Smeralda or for those who want to spend a relaxing holiday.
Excellent Reasonably Priced B&B
Reviewed By Angu5We stayed here for two nights. Nice small town in the hills, 20 minutes drive form Olbia airport and handy for the Costa Smeralda beaches and towns. Located down a quiet residential street a few minutes walk from the town / restaurants. Plenty of free street parking nearby (in May). Pleasant room with aircon. Friendly, helpful hosts. Good selection of savoury and sweet items for breakfast.

Reviewed By pknight8We stayed at this very special hotel on our tour of northern Sardinia and loved it! The hotel has a wonderfully authentic feel to it, the room and bathroom was spotless and very comfortable and breakfast was delicious on a balcony with a view over the pretty little town. The owner, Marco was charming and pointed us in the direction of the best beaches and San Pantaleo should not be missed if you’re in the area. We would love to return.
