Reviewed By Eugene WI spent 8 wonderful days at the Hilton Rio de Janeiro Copacabana. I was upgraded to an ocean view, and there is no better sight than to see the sunrise over Copacabana Beach! I was treated to a sumptuous buffet breakfast every morning. In addition to the buffet, you could order omelets and waffles, cooked to order. The executive lounge is available most hours. It is manned by an agent that can also direct you with whatever you need. Patricia was the executive lounge agent that was most helpful to me. She was very concerned about my walking around at night alone. Due to her concerns, i did take an Uber to my dinner restaurant. When necessary, executive lounge agents work closely with the hotel concierges. They set up a wonderful tour that included the Christ Statue and Sunset at Sugar Loaf. The concierge also arranged for me to be tested for covid prior to returning to the US. They came to me in the hotel and returned the results the same day. The room itself was very large and the bed was Hilton comfortable. The location of the hotel is not just across the street from the beach, but it is conveniently located to many restaurants and shopping streets. The other plus to staying here is that all of the employees speak English. A big selling point on this hotel is the roof top. There is a bar that serves food, a swimming pool and the views of Rio that include Corcovado and Sugar Loaf. Staying here is worth every penny ( or Reals in this case).

Reviewed By martimo2016We spent 3 days in Rio de Janeiro and decided to stay in this hotel. It’s the perfect place in Copa Cabana it’s right next to a local craft fair and the beach. In this zone there are also a lote of nice restaurants. Our stay in the hotel was perfect, the staff was amazing and the rooms were nice and clean. We also tried the hotel’s spa and had an amazing couples massage. I recommend this hotel. :)

The Ibis Rio de Janeiro Santos Dumont has 330 rooms and is located downtown offering easy access to the main entertainment district of the city. It is 200 m from Santos Dumont Airport, less than 500 m from the beach and only 10 minutes from Copacabana where you will find great bars, restaurants and nightclubs. The Ibis Hotel features a restaurant, a bar and private parking. All the apartaments are No Smoking.

If you have just hand luggage you can walk it in ten minutes by following the big bridge you can see from Departures and it’s at the end of the next again block. But it’s not a salubrious area (homeless people sleeping on the street). I’ve stayed at several Ibis hotels and they are usually good value bricks-and-mortar places but Ibis S.D. Is quite isolated and lacking nearby facilities. The food at the ‘restaurant’ was poor, the ‘buffet’ turning out to be soups and plain, undercooked pasta. (Next door at Novotel I found marginally better but a very long wait for the food.). Zero information from reception on food deliveries or other restaurants (other than ‘try WhatsApp’), zero info on directions other than ‘take a taxi’ when downtown is only 15m walk, buses terminate almost opposite and the excellent modern tram system runs from the airport. It has all the basic facilities, wifi, safe, air-conditioning. One member of reception spoke English and was enthusiastic. It’s not that they don’t try: they just don’t have basic visitor information or recommendations to hand.

Overall its a nice place, i did extend my stay 3 times and the stuff are very kind but its important that their processes will run more smoothly so it gets 3/5 from me and when they work better they will get 4/5.

Ventured out one night for dinner and ended up wishing we would have stayed at the hotel. After six days we were still walking around saying “this hotel is incredible!” I cannot think of one thing to complain about.

I couldn’t have asked for a better view - thanks to the guy who checked me in for choosing that room knowing it was my first visit to Rio. My room was clean but small, comfortable bed and pillows. Espresso machine in the room but no capsules were provided despite asking for them. Shower was good, rainforest head, water was powerful and hot if needed. Breakfast was an ok selection, pretty much the same everyday, cold cuts, breads, cakes, scrambled eggs, hot selection and fruits, coffee just about passable. I didn’t use the pool, it didn’t look particularly clean. Location was excellent, just under 5 mins walk to Copacabana beach. Most staff were friendly, some not so. I would stay here again if the price was right.
