At one of the best locations in Ilulissat you will find Hotel Icefiord. During your stay at Hotel Icefiord, you can experience the Diskobay and all it offers at first hand. Enjoy the fresh air, the sea and the extraordinary view of the ever-changing constellations of icebergs. You will wake up every morning with the spectacular view over the bay where whales are playing and icebergs are tilting as all the rooms face the ocean. The view can also be enjoyed on the frontside terrace where food and beer is served while the nature is changing right in front of you. Our brand new deluxe rooms have a balcony with two chairs so that you can enjoy a cup of coffee or room service while looking over the bay. When laying in your bed you can look upon the sky and witness the northern lights in winter time through the skylight windows that can be controlled with a remote. There are many activities around the hotel as hiking, kayaking, whale watching, helicopter trips and many more.
We were a group of photographers on a photography tour. We were amazed of the room view and excellent food. Didn’t expect such high quality. We were spoiled with Chef’s gourmet dinners during our stay. Waking every morning and seeing the beautiful bay of Ilulissat is enchanting.

The staff is absolutely lovely and go beyond your expectations. The hotel is brand new and very clean. If you want space, book a suit otherwise the rooms aren’t very large. The breakfast is absolutely lovely!!! The hotel does free airport shuttle to/from the airport. Only thing I see they could improve is the gym, there were roll-out beds placed in there which was kind of blocking places, and as I do HIIT which requires a lot of space, I would really remove those beds and perhaps put a bench press. Thank you for having us!

We had stayed at Hotel Avannaa 6 years ago and were keen to return when next in Ilulissat. We found that it had changed hands since last time but the new caretakers are fantastic, and so helpful. Especially when planes were being rescheduled due to the world melting down due to COVID-19 and had weather delaying flights, they would keep an eye on things and call Airlines for us. The rooms are comfy and the views from the ocean side are as fantastic as ever and the light is constantly changing. See pic. It's a bit of a walk into town so bring your spikes if travelling in winter, otherwise taxis are plentiful. We'll be staying there again next time was well. Geoff & Annette (Australia)

The only place to stay in Aasiaat. Nice locations, view and comfortable beds. Wonderful breakfast. Could be more smiling crew, but it is maybe the way it is in Greenland. Stayed in a separate apartement. Price is high, but since it is the only place to stay, it might be reasonable.

I loved my stay here. Exceptionally clean private room, with all the amenities a person needs. Very decent breakfast options, Really friendly and accommodating staff. In the heart of town. If I'm luck enough to return to Ilulissat, this is where I would stay again without a doubt. Many thanks to all the staff at Nuka!

Welcome to Hotel Arctic, the world's most northerly 4 star hotel with a 5 star conference centre. Right on the edge of the Ilulissat Ice Fjord - a wonder of the world which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List - and well within reach for everyone who wants the experience of a lifetime.
We stayed here for 2 nights - a short weekender. The hotel is a fair distance from the Ilulissat town centre - about 20m on foot, but there are hourly shuttles between the hotel and the town centre. There are also free shuttles timed for flight arrivals and departures without need to prebook. What we find astonishing is that the hotel cannot provide us with a map of the town when we asked for one. What makes this hotel special is the location - the backdrop is a bluff overlooking Disko Bay and the many icebergs floating in it. The view is simply spectacular. Breakfast and dinner with a window table is a must. The food is astonishingly good if quite overpriced - over the two nights we had the muskox, the seafood consommé, the baked wolfish, and the snow crab, all were absolutely delightful. The rooms are clean but housekeeping made no effort to service the room later if you happen to be in your room when they come knocking. They also do not bother replenishing soap or toilet rolls if they failed to service the room - we had to ask twice and then was delivered 1 toilet roll and no soap. We gave up asking. The hotel promoted a service of checking in for our Air Greenland flight at the hotel but no one mentioned or offered it to us on check-out, even though we specifically mentioned we were on a GL flight to Kangerlussuaq.

I stayed 2 nights here in early May, while winter still had a strong grip on the east Greenland coast. It is owned and operated by generous host Ole, who will pick you up from Ilulissat fisherman's harbour (beside the Royal Greenland factory), convey you by scenic boat trip to Rode Bay and also cook meals for you if booked at reservation. The hotel is very simple, rooms are spacious and comfortable - this is all about the ultra authentic Greenland experience living in a tiny village. The best things about Hotel Nordlys are - no electronic/internet distractions, being in the great wide Greenlandic outdoors and feeling the flow of village life for a couple of days. There is a restaurant in the village during summer, and you can go dogsledding in winter. At all times of year, icebergs will go quietly drifting by the bay while you read your books in the conservatory with floor-to-ceiling windows. In darker months, you should be able to see Aurora Borealis dance above the hills from the same conservatory. I had a very peace time being away from all distractions, with plenty of space to walk and enjoy the outdoors. I would recommend for couples, friends and solo adventurers. Families - there are working dogs in the village, so be sure that you and the kids are fully on point about correct Greenland dog etiquette.

Ilulissat is also home to Ilulissat Art Museum, a popular art museum that is not too far from Hvide Falk. Whether you’re traveling for business, pleasure or both, Hvide Falk is sure to make your visit to Ilulissat one worth remembering.
I checked in at the Hvide Falk Hotel on the 8th October 2021 and stayed there for 3 days. I cannot thank them enough. I arrived there completely shocked after a bad experience in an Airbnb accomodation in Ilulissat (at that time there was a murder in town, human bodies' parts were found in the garbage and I felt quite unsafe at the Airbnb accomodation located in a poorly lighted area surrounded by factories since even the police were recomending not go alone in such places). Even though there were no available rooms at the Hotel's website, the woman at the reception managed to find a room for me: she suggested me to wait for one guest who was due to check out soon and invited me to have a seat and relax at the lounge while waiting. When the guest finally checked out, they prepared the room very quickly so that I could sleep a bit after two sleepless nights, and made sure I was feeling ok. It felt like being at home. I had an injured shoulder and they didn't mind warming up in the microwave the warm pad I'd bought for the pain (sometimes they even offered me to warm it up without asking them to do it). Next day I joined a whale watching boat trip organised by the hotel, and it was so wonderful. It was a very comfortable boat and I was lucky enough to see 5 whales!!! Thank you so much, guys, for being so attentive and kind. When a solo traveller feels unsafe and is injured as I was, some comfort and kindness is crucial to feel better. You all have made me feel safe and comfortable. Special thanks to the reception woman, Vilhelmine, who is also a courageous boat captain with amazing abilities to spot whales. Thank you also to her boat helper (sorry, I can't remember your name) for having shared with me a lot of interesting information about the whales and the life in Greenland. You are fantastic people! Without the help and kindness of the Hvide Falk Hotel staff, this trip wouldn't have been the same and my idea of Greenland would have been now completely different. All the best for you. QUJANAQ.

If you've never been to Greenland before then heads up the standard of rooms is not very high compared to the western industrialized nations. You will also pay a relatively high price for the standard. This is probably a 2 star at 4 star prices. But the location makes up for everything the room itself lacks. If you know what you're getting into, then this place is the best value besides a hostel in Ilulissat but your expectations need to be adjusted. The kitchen and bathroom are functional but the grocery stores are nearby so you save a lot by being able to feed yourself. You can eat ready-to-eat foods rather than cooking. The major tourist activity meeting points, wifi cafes, restaurants, shops etc are all right there about 500 meters away. The other major hotels like Hotel Arctic and the affiliated Hotel Icefiord are significantly further away from the "city center" but have magnificent views on the water and that's what you are paying for. I hate to say this but I have stayed here twice on two separate occasions and the wifi has never worked. They're working on it. Do not skimp on this: you will need to buy a sim card for your phone or with a wifi hotspot device The service is called Tusass and you can get them at any Post Office / Tele-Post location in the country. The card itself is only about 64 USD / 400 DKK, This is essential if the wifi is not working because you'll need it to call the front desk. Get the after hours phone number in case of an emergency, such as heater going out in the middle of the night, which happened to me. I'm still giving it 4/5 despite this because of the value you're getting for the price and location. Bottom line: I've got a bit of authority in saying that I have stayed at all the big players in Ilulissat numerous times before but I come back here because I prefer the location over minor luxury. The driver will take you wherever you want to go. Icefiord - the hotel - has the best restaurant in town and Hotel Arctic has the nicest rooms for a price. I can be more spontaneous here because it isn't a trek into town. I like being able to control what I eat and not be held hostage by the restaurant hours. Take it from me, make your stay in Greenland a little more affordable by staying here and doing an extra activity with the money you would have saved. There aren't many cities in Greenland that have as many options as Ilulissat and Nuuk but it is nice to know there is a value player in town in addition to the many expensive ones.
