Situated on the wild West Coast, 30 minutes north of Greymouth and 300m south of the famous Pancake Rocks and Blowholes, the Resort is surrounded by the Paparoa National Park and only metres from the beach. Floor to ceiling windows in the Waterline Restaurant and Bar mean you can admire the gorgeous sunset while dining on local West Coast food.Few places in the world can offer such comfort so close to the wild action.
I stayed 2 nights at The Ocean View Resort to have some time off from all the stress and hustle and bustle all the time. And I have to say I couldn't have picked a better place to do that. All the rooms are facing the ocean which is only about 100m away. So you can fall asleep and wake up with the sound if the ocean. The meals in the cozy restaurant are superb and the service the best. Big thank you to Alexander and Jay who looked after me in the best possible way. The scenery of Punakaiki is one of my favorites. There is so much to see and to do you couldn't do it all if you would stay for a whole week Went back today to my stressful day to day life with a big smile on my face. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

Unique hostel with all home comforts, lodges and cottages nestled in the native rainforest. Excellent place to relax ~ restore ~ explore. Beautiful beaches, river walks, horse trekking, and kayaking close-by. Bread/brownies available for sale. FREE UNLIMITED WIFI is available in all rooms of the retreat. 3kms north of the Pancake Rocks, the sign on main road for Motel - Homestay - Backpackers indicates your turn off. Book your Intercity Bus to the Truman Track (TRT) and you'll be only meters away from Te Nikau.
Tui room was a chalet in beautiful rain forest. However we should have guessed when all windows were open on a cold autumn day it was due to a damp issue. Well worse than that - the bed was so damp it couldn"t be slept in. Bathroom had condensation running down walls with toilet paper too damp to use. This accommodation was not fit for guests. Let alone the charge of $150!! When we complained - it took 2 emails, 4 phone calls and too many excuses to get a $70 refund. The lack of sleep was not worth the $80 cost, aggravation and frustration. Having had a wonderful South Island trip - Te Nikau Retreat was memorable for exceptionally poor accommodation.

Arrived in a west coast downpour! The cottage was warm and cozy, loads of space for a couple. The kitchenette had everything we needed for a great night in. Bathroom was spacious and well heated with a heat lamp, the deck would have been great in the sunshine!

High Standard accommodation for budget travelers. Enjoy our friendly atmosphere and relax to the sound of the sea. You won't get any closer to the beach!
I stayed in the house bus whilst my parents stayed in the sunset cottage. Both really great, clean and pleasant. Bus is really cosy and just something a bit different, cottage has great views and a lovely little patio. Highly recommend either.

Punakaiki Beach Camp is located in a picturesque beachside setting adjoining Paparoa National Park. Entrance is in Owen Street, off SH 6, 1km north of Pancake Rocks & easy 45 min drive from Westport or Greymouth. Ideal for overnight stop or extended stay, the Punakaiki Beach Camp is an excellent base to explore limestone gorges, bushwalks, beaches & Pancake Rocks & Blowholes.
Loved my stay here. So close to the beach and easy access to other attractions in the area. Communal facilities were really clean and tidy with indoor and outdoor tables for eating, hot showers and laundry facilities. Only thought my one person unpowered site was a tad pricey at $20. Loved my on site coconut ice cream.

We were apprehensive because some reviews stated that the rooms were dated and tired but we feel that was very unfair. The staff were friendly and helpful. The place was very clean and not tired. The hot water was a little erratic for one shower but that was our only grumble. Would stay again.

Set in quiet coastal bush environment, overlooking Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and near Paparoa National Park one of New Zealand's treasured locations. On State Highway 6, a perfect location between Nelson & Glaciers, to walk native rainforest & rugged beaches.Spot native birds, particularly black petrels, wekas, wood pigeons and tuis, then after dark visit the glow-worm grotto.
Excellent location & room. Was disappointed there was no milk in the room & unable to purchase it from anywhere close. Because of self check in procedure we were unable to contact staff etc. Apart from that, great price & highly recommended.

HAVENz offer a selection of traditional Kiwi hideaways: luxury homes, holiday apartments and baches. These holiday retreats are situated in tranquil native forest and offer easy access to beaches, the Paparoa National Park, and -of course- the famous Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowholes. We also operate Nature's Tours. Based at Punakaiki in the Paparoa National Park we offer a range of tours on some of New Zealand’s most naturally beautiful and iconic walking tracks. Our guides weave their storylines whilst you visit incredible locations, introducing you to our fascinating culture, history, geology, flora and fauna. We have a style and delivery that is both intensely informative while still being loads of fun. Our stories are told in a manner easily understood by both young and old and are a great way to discover the area with your entire family, nobody gets left waiting in the car!
We visited in March 2019 for one night at Perfect Strangers. We didn't know what to expect and, having read other reviews we knew this wouldn't be your average hotel. First of all collect the keys at the Canoe hut, around 10 mins by car, the keys and instructions were left outside under a stone to be picked up (people must be very honest around here!). We then went to Perfect Strangers, left the car by the side of the highway and went down the stairs (with our luggage) to find ourselves in a totally isolated place. The weather wasn't so good and there was a thunder storm during the night, but the place was totally watertight so it wasn't an issue. Inside it could have done with a clean in all the top corners (lots of cobwebs). There's no mobile or tv coverage, but there is a landline in case of emergencies and a DVD player to watch movies on the tv. There's access to a small beach, great if the weather is nice. Tips: take food and drinks to snack on, alternatively eat dinner and breakfast at nearby Punakaiki. The Perfect Strangers location is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.

The food is disgusting cheap overpriced rubbish and the staff are rude, hostile, and were clearly intimidating to two young Asian customers who simply wanted to buy some iceblocks and plug in their phones to be charged. Stay away and to the people who run this - you should be embarrassed by how you are representing our country to customers in particular those from other countries. Arrogant, uncouth bullies who should be shut down.
