Family friendly Resort Hotel nestled on 5 tropical acres between the foothills of the Blue Mountains and the Caribbean sea close to all attractions in tranquil Port Antonio.
Lovely ambiance, dinner menu limited, food was not good , what kind of potatoes do you serve? , the service was great bar menu is also a good choice for mix drink. The idea of standing at the front desk to run your card for food doesn’t look good, overall it’s a great place to chill but not for food.

My husband, 13-year-old and I stayed at the Fig Tree for 3 days on a family vacation. We absolutely enjoyed the space, cuisine, views and staff. Breakfast was incredible, our most memorable meal was callaloo with pumpkin and homemade biscuits. The curried coconut pumpkin soup was delicious and so many more meals were as well. Between us, the onsite chef was better than the chef at Golden Eye. The staff on premises was incredibly pleasant and worked hard to accommodate anything we asked for. Deanna was lovely, as were so much of the staff. The views from Fig Tree were amazing. We enjoyed the breezes, privacy and so much of the sense of place. We felt completely connected to the staff & will likely keep in touch as they were such great people. My husband and son took private lessons from Javii on Boston Beach. He charged $50 per person which was a bit of a deal. He was fantastic. We would highly recommend. We enjoyed the pool which was a very short walk from our Hut. The ocean was perfect for swimming, surfing and was not populated with a barrage of people .We also enjoyed the views throughout the property. The beds were comfortable. If at fig tree specifically you need to remember: basic footwear for the hut and a flashlight. The bottom floor is a unlevel and this will make your stay much more enjoyable. You need to be careful when utilizing steps, they are uneven and you need to pay attention to walking. There was plenty of towels, linens and we had a small mini refrigerator in our Hut which came in handy. Don't forget shampoo, water bottles from home and bug repellent of your choice. We visited the Blue lagoon around 10:30 in the morning, which is less than 15 minutes from the facility. We were the first people to arrive. It was incredibly fantastic to have the place to ourselves. I would recommend going early. Deanna was able to give us good instructions on navigating the area. Roads were rough getting there & we have stomachs of steel. It took us about four hours or more to arrive from Kingston airport. We used the driver that was recommended however getting a driver from the airport might be more economical and just as easy. I would do research. I would also research local drivers and the Port Antonio area for alternatives as well. Overall the entire visit was incredible. We would absolutely recommend you go!! Enjoy & Take in all that this amazing place has to offer.

Best eco boutique hotel in Port Antonio, Jamaica. Set on a hilltop on Jamaica's northeast coast between the majestic Blue Mountains and the Caribbean Sea, Hotel Mockingbird Hill is Jamaica's foremost 'green' hotel minutes from the most romantic Frenchman's Cove Beach. A tranquil, serene, sanctuary with breathtaking vistas.
This was our first trip to Jamaica and our honeymoon. I can truly say that our stay in Portland at the Mocking Bird Hill more than exceeded our expectations. The ambiance at Mocking Bird Hill and the lush tropical, colourful vegetation and birdlife surrounding the hotel creates a relaxing and most serene environment - a much welcome and humbling escape from the hustle and bustle of the city life we are used to. Angela, Paula and the rest of the team at the hotel were amongst the loveliest people we've met. They made our stay very personal, attended to all our needs and made sure we got the most of our limited time in Portland. They truly made it feel like a 'home from home' and we are very grateful for each and everyone's immense contribution to our stay. For anyone wanting to stay at a hotel that is warm, friendly, luxurious and comfortable, then Mocking Bird Hill is the place. The drive from the Kingston Airport is quite long and tiring (especially after a 10 hour flight from London), but that's quickly forgotten at the first glimpse of the stunning natural beauty within which this charming hotel is based. We stayed in a deluxe room overlooking the lush tropical garden and sea beyond. The room itself was very clean, spacious and surprisingly breezy - the fully opening doors leading to the terrace expressed a sense of indoor/outdoor living which added to the experience. This, along with the hotel's eco-friendly approach really encourages guests to enjoy and experience the gorgeous surroundings and appreciate this part of Jamaica for all its beauty and authenticity. The hotel has many activities to offer, from organising hiking up the Blue Mountains, bird watching, car hire and arranging transport to the various beautiful beaches that are so close to the hotel (Frenchman's Cove, Winifred Beach, Boston Beach etc). For us, the most unforgettable experience was rafting down the Rio Grande where we were hosted by a lovely local gentleman named Kevin (Captain no. 6) whose friendliness, politeness and humility made our day - a stop at Belinda's cafe is a must on this excursion and I can confidently say that her jerk chicken was the best chicken dish I've tasted in as long as I could remember. Walking on the roads in Port Antonio was also very nice. All the locals are very friendly and eager to talk to us - be sure to greet people as you walk by, they visibly appreciate it! Overall - what an amazing 6 days we had here. I can't wait to visit again, hopefully not too far in the future and for a longer period!

This place is a great base to explore the beautiful North East coast of Jamaica - which is much more unspoilt than other parts of the coast (so we’re told!) Located 30 mins from Port Antonio by taxi or route taxi (we took route taxis everywhere and they were great), it’s walking distance to beautiful Frenchman’s Cove, and just a short route taxi ride to Blue Lagoon and Winnifred Beach (150JMD pp). The guesthouse is on a hill so there are lovely views of the sea and there’s a small cove at the bottom of the hill where you can join the locals in a swim - bliss! You can have breakfast and dinner on the terrace and the waiting and reception staff are very friendly. The pool is refreshing and the rooms comfy (big beds, good aircon and hot water). It would have been nice to have more of a communal vibe but it may just be a quiet time. Not loads of eating places around unless you are happy to eat in or at nearby hotels which are a little pricier. Otherwise Boston Beach and Port Antonio are the best bets - not too far in taxis and again easy with a route taxi.

All rooms enjoy ocean view and room service.
The only negative is that we haven't stayed before! Positives: 1. the rooms are stunning, the housekeeping prompt and on point, private pool and sea view to die for. 2. the food is delicious, again on point and delivered professionally 3. the private cinema area is simply awesome - if you have a young family then you're in for a treat 4. the walks along the coast are beautiful with friendly couple of dogs and a castle 5. the live band at dinner were awesome and played authentic music during dinner under the stars 6. Private beach like a scene from a movie 7. covid protocols felt well managed and felt very clean throughout The only constructive criticism would be the need for some maintenance around the property, some wood dropped off fence in the villa one day - but with the other positives and covid, this must be forgiven thanks again for a great stay and big up the hotel staff.
