I tried both this hotel and the more luxury nearby Shekinah. Different in price and luxury, but both well worth the money. The Htike has a very cozy atmosphere and you feel part of 'the family' (the very friendly and helpful staff) from the first till the last moment. Everything was kept clean at all times, staff very willing to help with bustickets and more, and I loved the breakfast on the rooftop: there I felt a slice of paradise...

Located right in the heart of the city, The First Hotel is only 600m(10 min walking distance) away from largest shopping center, night market, banks, central market, pagoda and many more. We are the ONLY hotel in town with the best view of Sun rise & Sun set. Delicious buffet breakfast serves on the roof top area so the guest can breath in the fresh breeze blowing from the Nga-Won river.
I have travelled to Pathein 4 times over the last 8 years. On the first two visits, we stayed at The Pathein Hotel which was very run-down. We were delighted to find The First Hotel last November, and stayed for two separate nights then. We stayed for another night in November this year. We selected a larger room which has a good view over the river, although the riverboat horns start very early in the morning so those who prefer a quieter room should choose another facing. The breakfast room on the top floor of the hotel has a fine view over all of Pathein, and the breakfast is very good as well (although it would be better if the mohinga is less watery). The staff were all very helpful, and I was happy to see that the room had been well-maintained over the year. We will be returning in November 2020!

My wife and I recently stayed for 25 nights in this beautifully maintained hotel. Rooms were well maintained, the staff were attentive to detail and the management warm and welcoming. An excellent breakfast each morning with a variety of options that changed daily. Best views in Pathein from the 8th floor dining room.Management provided a safe for our room which was greatly appreciated.

Large rooms with huge comfortable bed. Good air con and stable wifi. Flatscreen telly with English channels, mini fridge, tea/coffee/kettle, hairdryer and safe in room. The bathroom has rainforest shower and tub with lots of hot water and good pressure. Breakfast was good with hot and cold variety at buffet. The lifts were fast and new. Staff were helpful and friendly throughout. Local restaurants across the busy street, and around the corner. 24 hour turnaround for staff to print documents and it was impossible to get incoming calls transferred to my room. I was there for a week and a few nights there was loud banging and it sounded like heavy furniture moving upstairs. It didn't last long thank goodness :-)

Stayed the year before. Good location and very quiet. Room a bit musty and outdated. But doable for a night. Staff tried to be helpful but poor English. Surrounded garden pleasant and other guests said their rooms nicer than mine. Haaaa

They charged us as similar price as hotel in Yangon as high season but service level was very lower than the hotel in other price which I stayed at other than Yangon. This hotel cut electric supply to room from 6am to 6pm. During this period, we cannot t use electric facilities such as TV, Air conditions, mobile phone charge, hair dryer, refrigerator and etc. Also we cannot receive hot water from shower. They did not clean up room even I put card "Please make up" at the door nob because they were busy due to many guest checked out. Breakfast is poor, they serve only one menu, fried rice or fried noodle.
