Husavik is called "the Whale Watching Capital of Europa" - and the harbour is within walking distance from the hotel. The outstanding scenery of Skjalfandi Bay provides the perfect backdrop for any of the many sporting activities the area offers such as fishing, horseriding, skiing or hiking. The county surrounding Husavik is know for it's natural wonders and beautiful landscape. Husavik offers the traveller an ideal base for tours to Lake Myvatn (which is only 20min drive away), Icelands most powerful waterfall Dettifoss, the Capital of the North Akureyri (50min drive away) or the canyon of Asbyrgi. Fosshotel Husavik, is the friendly and well equipped hotel with 44 comfortable rooms in the heart of Husavik
We stayed for one night. The hotel was in a lovely location and very easy to park. Close to the harbor and restaurants. We just had an issue with the temperature of the room when we arrived. It was a particularly hot day when we arrived and the room was very hot and stuffy and we had to keep the small window open for most of the night to cool it down, which wouldn't have been an issue but we were on the first floor near the hotel entrance and there were a lot of noise coming from bar area/entrance area. It would've been helpful to have the curtains closed prior to our arrival to keep it cool.

Siglo Hotel is built into Siglufjord's small boat marina. Guests can view local fishermen bring in the catch of the day from their window seat or from one of our marina restaurants. Inspired by our surroundings, Siglo Hotel focuses on providing customers with personal service in a relaxing environment located in northern Iceland.
We stopped over for one night on our ring road trip of Iceland. This hotel stands out in the town as significant investment in a small place. Our harbour facing room was large and well appointed - best pillows on our trip so far - all comfort was provided . FOC with your room is access to a great hot tub ( large ) with beautiful views over the water and mountains. There is also a sauna. Great cocktail bar and nice lounge to sit in and sip your drink . We ate in the restaurant (booked ahead ). Food was good - probably the most formal restaurant we’ve eaten in so far ( day 10/14). Breakfast was a well provided self serve buffet. Coffee from a machine . I suspect like half the world Icelandic hotels are struggling to recruit too many staff at the moment. I would happily come back to this hotel for another stay.

Mid 20th-century hotel located in the heart of Akureyri, the gateway to the rich natural splendor of northeast Iceland.
We stayed here for 3 nights. Overall, the room was OK. Our room was on the fifth floor. It was quiet. The hotel is well-located, in the centre of Akureyri. However, parking places around the hotel are limited. It is difficult to find a place to park. The breakfast buffet is average. Everything tasted bland. A staff member (the person in charge of the breakfast staff) was not friendly. Made me feel unwelcome.

Skjaldarvik guesthouse, restaurant and tourist service is a family business. We put our lives and souls in it. Óli, Dísa and our girls, Klara, Katrín and Sunneva, will offer you a warm welcome.
We stayed here with a group of 14 students for several nights. Fantastic location directly at the fjord (whales visible from the hot tub), great breakfast and dinner, super friendly and helpful staff (they even kept the restaurant open after hours for us when we were delayed on one of our excursions), and the cutest Icelandic horses on property. We will definitely come back with another group next year!

Laxá Restaurant opened during the Summer of 2014 along with the Hotel, since then our Chef has been creating a menu around Iceland and Mývatn region’s uniqueness, putting an emphasis on regional ingredients and carefully selecting high quality products. Our smoked Arctic Charr is from Skútustaðir just down the road, the fresh Arctic Charr is from Húsavík and our lamb and foal are from North Iceland and Eyjafjörður. Finally all our fresh vegetables are from nearby farm in Hveravellir, grown in geothermally heated greenhouses.
Very good hotel for Lake Myvatn area. Popular with tours & bird enthusiasts. Representative of local architecture. Easy check in. Breakfast is hearty and plenty. Room comfortable. No USB ports, no issue, we came prepared with 220 plug adapters and converters. Parking can be dicey with a late arrival. The restaurant food is good. They restaurant staff was understaffed and had trouble getting orders in and adding orders to check. This was discovered and resolved at check in. Good launch and recovery spot for Lake Myvatn.

The bed was really comfy and it was very nice to use the Hot Tub on the balcony in the evening while having a beer ! The only thing could be that the water should be 2-3 degrees warmer…

My partner and I stayed at one of the cottages and we had the BEST experience. The cottage is super cozy, relaxing and located in a great place in town. We enjoyed using the hot tub, which had a great view of the town and the church. Not to mention the beds are ultra comfy which was nice to come back to after a long day. On top of that, Helga is a such a lovely host and was so accommodating! 12/10 experience and highly recommend! Don’t think twice about booking at this guest house!

Karuna Guesthouse is a family-run guesthouse located in the North of Iceland. The farm is located on road 75, between Varmahlíð and Saudarkrokur. We offer all year accommodation, both in Gulluhús, a cozy house with 5 bedrooms, all twin /double rooms with 2 shared bathrooms with shower. In the old farmhouse that is newly renovated, is the lounge and 5 larger rooms that are all equipped with coffee/tea facilities and with a private bathroom with shower. These rooms accommodate one double room, two triple rooms, one quadruple room (family of four) and one family room for 5, they all have a private entrance. They are not included in Gulluhus, i.e. it needs to go outside to enter a shared kitchen and lounge. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare a great meal. We are located on a farm where we have a magnificent view, horses on grazing, hens on a paddock, and a few dogs at play. Here we offer comfort and peace
This is a great little hotel in a rural area of Iceland with very few accommodation options. They have kitchen facilities which were very helpful given that there are also few dining options in this area as well. Pro tip: stop and pick yourself up dinner groceries (maybe a Grandioso - most popular pizza in Norway!) at the grocery store in Blönduos. Be sure to research the hours - they close early (4pm on Sundays!). Travelers - be aware - the owner “advertises” leaving free items for you to cook for breakfast. Be prepared to arrive early or scavenge (or just bring your own). During our stay, one group of guests took over the kitchen and prepared their breakfast and lunch ( egg salad sandwiches ) with the supplies left for the guests (?) which left us and the other guests trying to politely manage sharing the last 2 pieces of bread and dry cereal. If this happens contact the owner who is willing to help. We did not know this until after our experience. In our communication with the owner, she clearly knows this has been a problem but has yet to remedy it (would recommend starting with a note in the kitchen stating 1 egg per guest please). Other than that - cute place. As noted in other reviews, the water does have a strong sulfur smell - but hey, what do you expect - it’s Iceland!!

17 room country guesthouse in the Akureyri Countryside North Iceland, all with private bathroom. Only 8 minutes from Akureyri. We specialize in the Icelandic Lamb in our restaurant, cooked the traditional way. Lots of activity in the area such as horse riding, hiking paths, museums, churches, handcraft galleries, swimming pool, restaurants, Cow shed cafe, local Ice cream production, farms.
The place is quaint and well kept. Basic room, clean and comfortable. The highlight of the stay was the 3 course dinner, starring Lamb. If you stay here, and you do not eat here, you are missing out on one of the best meals in Iceland.

Dimmuborgir Guesthouse offers cosy accommodation in the fascinating scenery on the shores of Lake Myvatn. Friendly countryside atmosphere and some of the best views found in the area.
We stayed here in February 2021, right before the world was locked down due to the pandemic. This was by far the best and most incredible place we stayed at during our trip around this incredible country. things to love: The views!!! the free upgrade<3, the snow, the incredible breakfast, the friendliness and willingness of the staff to make everything magical, the dogs running around ,also if you like running, its a beautiful place to put on your runners and explore the incredible landscape, the room was very spacious, clean and felt so comfortable. The only thing that could have been better was a warning that the water from the shower has a high amount of sulfate( I could and should have known, being in iceland) , so take of your jewelry!! my necklace was black after the shower instead of silver... luckily this can be turned around with baking soda& aliminium foil but a fair warning for those who are still to travel to iceland... take of your jewellrey in the showers & hotsprings:) Thank you for this incredble stay and the incredible hospitality!! we absolutely loved it and have claimed this our very favorite part of the country.
