Located in Nakuru, Sarova Woodlands Hotel and Spa is a tranquil retreat for travelers on business or leisure, offering the ideal place to break the journey for those passing through Nakuru Town. The hotel is located off the main Nairobi-Nakuru highway just outside of Nakuru town and is situated on a wooded avenue in the upscale Milimani area adjacent to the State House.
I hosted an event at Sarova on 21st May 2022 and my experience here left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. A quick summary below: a) Prior to getting to the hotel, despite having their phone numbers on their website the hotel would never seem to pick up or return calls. This should have been the 1st red flag. b) The worst of all was the horrible customer service offered by Emily's Boss. The man doesn't deserve to be in hospitality. He belittled and made it clear that we were not really "guests" but just a means to get a buck for the hotel - even going to the point of saying we were "inconveniencing them" by giving them requests for more items. Even when we raised complaints, this guy did not apologise, only his subordinate staff did. He has single handedly ensured that I will never go to any Sarova Chain in Nairobi or Mombasa & we will not host any of our future events there. c) Despite having paid for a conference package 2 weeks in advance, the hotel staff made no steps to reach out to us to confirm our needs. On the day of the event, the staff at the front desk didn't even know that we were supposed to host an event at their premises. Less than an hour before the event was set to start, the staff were still vacuuming the conference hall in full view of our attendees. c) Proper hotels usually provide water, notebooks & pens for conference guests: However these guys charged us per item person attending (for a notebook and pen that was branded Sarova, SMH). Basically, all they give us was a room and plain seats and tables. I have never seen such a thing, esp for a place where we ended up paying over $5,000 for a 3hr event. For business folk, I would not recommend you hosting events at this hotel unless you want a miserable experience.

Brand new, Ziwa Bush Lodge only has 9 en-suite units available, offering a boutique experience to its guests. Each individual room is made from local stone, canvas and makuti roofing (folded palm leaves) with its beautifully and uniquely handcrafted cedar furniture made on site by Kenyans living in and around Nakuru town.
Nice environment, limited activities for the kids, good food. Looks so ordinary, mattresses are very bad, my kids had bad body aches because of the mattress not worth a sleep but a day visit. Too expensive for the type of service. Deliver something that has value for money

My stay in this hotel was elegant yet simple with a very nice way of mixing official business with calm private leisure. The staff are warm, friendly and courteous especially one Lilian Kimemia whose amiableness is just a spark and radiates joy in and though her service.

Designed as the perfect sanctuary from the demands of business and pleasure, our rooms offer a truly distinctive level of comfort and elegance. Take a well-deserved break in this beautifully appointed rooms and enjoy that extra-special touch of space and style.
Location in the heart of Nakuru CBD makes it ideal for business. Conference venues are excellent and so are the rooms which are spacious and clean. The breakfast is okay, improve the quality of your tea. The food in the ground floor restaurant is a hit and miss. The portions are quite generous but it takes too long. Do not order the pizza it is a hot mess. But overall the staff are great and very helpful. Thank you Duncan, Ian and Ian :) I would recommend this hotel for conferencing and accommodation just not the food.

Midland Hotel is an integral part of Nakuru whose history goes all the way back to the 1900s. In the early days only 1st class railway passengers were taken in. Famous personalities like the Queen Mother have been guests here!
It has been at least 20 plus years since I was last in the midland hotel. There have been a lot of great improvements done and they are still doing some renovations to the buildings. The rooms are excellent, very comfy and modern and the staff were friendly and handled our bookings well. ( We were in a group of 13) The dining room was a big improvement from what we remember from before and the food was good. I would recommend Midlands to any traveller passing through Nakuru.
