We stayed in a partial view room with a balcony and everything was perfect. It was so nice to wake up every morning and watch the sunrise from bed. The gorgeous beach was just a quick walk over the dunes on the wooden walkway/stairs. The pool was great after a hot day on the beach. The staff was so friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in the area. Everything you would need was conveniently located.

All amenities were as advertised. However, the hotel looked like it needed some updates & maintenance. I noticed that one of the 2 elevators wasn't working & I met a man who had stayed there a week. He said that the elevator had not worked the entire time he had been there. We did have an oceanside room with a terrace which was nice, but it was expensive. The hotel does have beach access, so if you are staying in Nags Head I would recommend staying here. However, this was my first time to the Outer Banks & I was not impressed. You can get far better beach front accommodations at a much lower price in Virginia Beach.

First time staying at The Blue Heron. The room was clean and upgrades were being made at the motel. The bed was comfy , new flat screen , small coffee pot , refrigerator and microwave in room. No hair dryer . Nice balcony to enjoy . If you are looking for an upscale place to stay this is not for you. This is an old school motel right on the beach, it’s worn and tattered, however if you wanna just enjoy the beach , relax and enjoy the views this is the place. We stayed on the 3rd floor and we had breathtaking views. Location was everything. The beach was right out of the back door. The pool was closed for the season and I did not get to the indoor pool or hot tub. The gentleman that checked us in was very nice. Overall I had a great time and I would definitely stay again . I’ll will post some pics of our room.

Welcome to the beautiful beaches of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We are a small cozy hotel located across from Jennette's Pier in Nags Head NC. Highlighted events happen here and our hotel is exactly where to stay! Our rooms feature efficiencies, standard rooms for queen and doubles with kitchenettes, balcony ocean views and fresh air!
Let me just list the things I observed while staying here. - no friendly check-in. You stand in front of a ATM-like teller machine and talk to some guy in the Philippines. - drain hole in sink is open with a Walmart rubber stopper sitting beside sink. - When we arrived, the tile floors wet in bath and main room, like puddles wet. - no towel rack around shower - no surface beside sink to put your toiletries on. No cubboard, shelf or surface. - door to bath doesn't stay open. It swings itself to where there's a crack. - then to close the bath door completely takes an elephant hit and will wake everyone - cheap coffee creamer/sweetener packs. Invest in flavored creamer cups. - blanket is a thin old piece of cloth - sheets are a dirty off white color from use and no bleach, same for pillow cases. - When we arrived there was some sort of towel arrangement on bed that had horns and looked like the satanic BAAL with threadbare twisted wash cloths that we're yellowing from use and no bleach. They tried to be classy, but failed miserably. - curtains didn't close completely. 3" of no privacy crack at the edge. -TV not mounted on swivel mount. Fixed to the wall so must be viewed at an angle. - ceiling stains - weird two sided bolt lock on bathroom - sex trafficking "you must stay in here while I'm gone" type of bolt lock at a weird height of about 6-feet up. Just creepy. -but they had a portable humidifier in case 90% humidity of the area just doesn't do it for you. Weird blue fridge. They're trying to insert a trendy item. I get that. But it doesn't fit ANYTHING else about the room. Also, there is an old yellowing microwave on top. -shower barely a spit -no outlets whatsoever on the door side of the bed So, 2-star at best. AT BEST.

Beware folks!! We booked this for one night, and $338 later, we left feeling dirty and disappointed. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apt, which was nice because we had room and seating for all 6 of us, but it was clear that the room was not a $338 quality room. It was evident that many problems were plastered and painted over. Every blanket in the apt had some sort of sticky candy on it. The water pressure was inadequate for showering. The windows had no screens, and the window in the living room area would just pop open if the wind blew too hard. The floors were absolutely disgusting, as you can see in the picture of my fiancées feet after not wearing shoes inside. The worst part tho, no staff on site. We checked in with a machine that virtually connected us to a person who appeared to be working from a concrete closet. Save your money, and book somewhere more reputable and safe.

Family friend oceanfront motel. Central location at Milepost 16.5 in Nags Head, close to all area attractions, Bodie Island lighthouse, Historic Manteo, restaurants, Jennette's Fishing Pier, and more. Recently remodeling tile rainshower in most rooms.
This was our first time staying here and it did not disappoint. It is a older motel but great location and beautiful ocean front. We loved that it is pet friendly and room was clean and bed were very comfortable. Owner was super nice and staff was great. It’s close to Jeanette’s Pier and I saw dolphins swimming everyday. We will definitely stay again :) Michelle B

Experience real southern hospitality at the Outer Banks' only historic B&B. A deluxe continental breakfast with a "hot" dish is served each morning. Our rooms are as individual as our guests. Each has a private bath with fluffy towels on a heated towel bar and English toiletries. Television, telephone, and refrigerator are standard in each room. Luxury rooms boast wet bars and kitchenettes, and some have Jacuzzi whirlpool tubs, sitting rooms or private screened porches.
Absolutley wonderful service and the food was superb. Couldn't ask for more family like staff who are always there to help out. Absolutley wonderful experience and would go twenty million times again.
