The only way to reach lovely Murren is by taking a series of trains and cable cars. Once you’re there, you’re walking or biking around this charming car-free village. But it’s well-worth the trek, especially if you’re a skier or snowboarder. There are 32 miles of trails plus lots of off-piste opportunities. The sledding is even better. Take a cable car to the summit of Schilthorn for epic alpine views.

Chalet-style holiday hotel with comfortable rooms, stylish restaurants and large sunny terrace. Arrival by car via Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg (large parking area). Then take the cable car to Murren (Schilthornbahn). Arrival by train via Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen and there by post bus to Stechelberg's cable car Station (Schilthornbahn). Then take the cable car to Murren. The Hotel Alpenruh is located at only one minute walking distance from the cable car staion Mürren.

Reviewed By mantravel14The hotel location is close to the Murren Cable Car station, less than a minute. It is also at one end of Murren. The room had a balcony and magnificent views of the Alps mountain peaks, with snow, rock, clouds, and sun still shining on them due to the heights when below was getting dark. Sitting in the smallish balcony and looking at the view was refreshing. The hotel is a three star - reasonably appointed but nothing fancy - no cofee maker in the room. The room size was compact, but it is expected in the hills at this price range. Our room rate included breakfast - basic fare with limited spread. The main restaurant however is excellent. We tried the soups, salad, vegetable Rosti and Zucchini Racletta - everything was well made and was of high quality. And the prices were very reasonable given Switzerland and at a tourist place. Murren is at a higher elevation than other places and the effort to reach there is worth it. In terms of reaching - we came from Lucerne -> Interlaken Ost -> Lauterbrunnen (train) -> Stechelberg (Bus number 141 - Gimmelwald (cable car) -> to Murren (cable car). The other option of train means that the station is at the other end of Murren and quite a bit of a walk with luggage. I would consider Hotel Alpenruh again next time I plan to be in Murren.

If you stay with us, you will have the best view to Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. We are a small family Hotel not far away from the railway Station. The most of our rooms have balcony and view to the mountains.
Highlight of our vacation

We stayed in a mountain view junior suite, which had a balcony with spectacular view, a comfy couch, plenty of seating at a desk and outdoor table, an upscale bathroom, and a separate cozy sleeping room. Breakfast and dinner were delicious! We came back to the restaurant twice for their rosti, salads, fondue, and local beers. But what really makes this place special are Jeannette and Tom. Jeannette gave us trip advice and knew the answers to all our questions. She was so kind and welcoming; every time we passed through the lobby, she greeted us with a warm smile and a question about how we'd slept, what our plans were for the day, or how our hike had gone. If we return to the Jungfrau someday in the future, we would without hesitation stay here again.

A hidden gem of a terrace for lunch with stunning views

Stunning panoramic mountain views from this hidden terrace, with a traditional Swiss menu (in German) and excellent helpful staff. As well as an excellent rosti, the flammkuchen was amazingly (a very thin german flatbread like pizza but without the tomato base).

Traditional cosy Swiss hotel with a lot of charm and atmosphere and only 20 meters from the hotel is the new Blumental Chalet. All rooms with shower and WC, cable TV, Radio, safe, hairdryer, free WIFI and sitting Corner. Well known for fine food and excellent wines. Excellent for scenic hikes, walks in floral meadows and excursions to the Schilthorn and Jungfraujoch. The hotel provides free entry to the swimming pool and Jacuzzi in the sports centre. Best rates with a direct booking with the Hotel. Best rates available with direct booking per E-Mail or phone.

Reviewed By Geoff_With_HazelThis has been our third visit to the hotel and it was charming as always. As with many hotels they have struggled during the pandemic. They only reopened this year in July and may shut down again soon. The room was comfortable, as always, the view incomparable, and the evening meal wonderful. We had to take breakfast in their system hotel for to the pandemic but this was no problem. Thoroughly recommended.

We offer two different locations with various accommodation: The Pop-up Lodge currently offers 21 double rooms and 1 single room, divided into the categories Standard, Comfort and Comfort+. The room price also includes breakfast, which is served in the cafeteria of the sports centre. There are also 4 apartments to rent. The facilities of the sports centre can also be used free of charge. This includes the indoor swimming pool, the Alpine Spa and Gym. Depending on the room category, a daily cleaning or only a final cleaning is planned. The Sport Lodge is located in the former staff building of the Hotel Palace. We offer 6 double rooms with a private bathroom & breakfast. We also offer 9 double rooms and 6 single rooms with the bathroom in the corridor. For these rooms there is a lounge with a small self-catering kitchen on the ground floor. In the rooms of the Sport Lodge we offer a final cleaning. Free access to the indoor swimming pool & ice rink in winter is included in the price.

Reviewed By 27paulsHuge clean rooms, comfy new bed, spectacular views. 2 min walk from the station. The hotel was bankrupt and has been reopened by a community organisation, Rooms are basic but confortable. Modern furnishings, classic ie old bathroom but clean and fully functional. Access and a basic breakfast are in the adjacent sports centre lobby and cafe for the time being. Memorable stay. Want to go back and see how it develops. Dont forget to get a swiss tourist discount card.

Hotel Eiger in car free Murren - the perfect hideaway for some days in the mountains situated on a sunny plateau underneath the Schilthorn (James Bond location). Only 1 1/2 hours from Bern-Belp and 2 1/2 hours from Zuerich and in the middle of the Swiss Alps. We offer charming rooms, an indoor pool with sauna and massage, panoramic restaurant with tasty options, free WLAN and conference room for you next summit meeting. The Hotel Eiger is owned and personally managed by the young Staehli family.

Reviewed By mk15057Shame on me for being so slow in reviewing. Just an amazing place. Very convenient location just off the tram. All of the staff were wonderful. Food was excellent; to say there were amazing views while dining is an understatement. Kids loved the pool. Our room was comfortable and spacious, and views from the large terrace we had were almost impossible to believe. Can’t say enough good things.

Mountain Restaurant and Hotel in the flower-valley (Blumental) situated slightly above Mürren. Very quiet and peacefull area with no lights and noises around. Magical energy place inbetween thousands of alp flowers and herbs in Summer and skiing slopes just beside in Winter. Restaurant with sun terrace and awesome view of the beautiful Jungfraumassif. 1 family room, 3 twin rooms and 2 dorms with 17 beds each.
