We stayed here as Tour Operator booked it. I was sceptical when we had to go for what seemed a long distance through maasai territory without nothing else readily seen. The payoff was worth it - the view of the Great Rift and Lake Manyara is suberb. The big house that we stayed in (6 of us) had its own pool and kitchen/dining/relax area (toghether with up to 5 rooms). I loved the beds (king-size mattress into a concrete shell which allowed for space to leave things on and increased perceived size/luxury). I would recommend to anybody.

At Manyara’s Secret we believe in quality, luxury and personal service. All our guests, whether alone or in groups, are assigned a personal host, who will ensure you lack nothing. To ensure privacy and luxury, every villa has its own private swimming pool or plunge pool. For all the guests is a 16m infinity pool available at the restaurant as well. Dinner is served a la carte at Manyara’s Secret.
This really was a lovely little place only let down by the wind at night. There are coverings over the windows, some internal and other external which flap around at night and can be disturbing. The food was excellent, no extra seasoning needed for anything. Likes are taken seriously and the chef really does provide what you require.

Arrived late in the evening by public transport. Warm wellcome. Small but cosy igloos, tents are alternative. Great breakfast, good dinner, small shop, well stocked bar. Evening show. Safaris tailor made, great value for price. Fantastic staff, Paolo and tram have the feeling for your needs according to your budget

I thought it's just going to be a regular camping night during the safari trip. However the stay in Kizumba was one of the trip's highlighys! Hans and the crew were the friendliest people I met in Tanzania (I mean really friendly, not "tourist agency friendly") and made me feel so welcome! The facilities were totally fine, and the tents are the most convenient you can find in any campsite. I highly recommend staying at Kizumba, even if not visiting the nearby lake Manyara. When there, talk with the crew and don't forget to stay for the evening show!

Fig Tree Lodge & Camp is located in Arusha province in the small village of Mto wa Mbu, located in the lower part of the Great Rift Valley and north of Lake Manyara. Here you are in the middle of the national parks of Lake Manyara (5 mins to the gate), Ngorongoro crater (40 min), Tarangire (30 min) and Serengeti with its endless plains (3 h). "The Fig" is a true oasis with a nice garden and a relaxing pool, located just one street from the center of Mto wa Mbu, in the middle of "where Everything happens". Here at Fig Tree Lodge, Desderia and Pia will take good care of you. In Mto wa Mbu, with its 11 000 inhabitants, you have the opportunity to visit the Manyara Secondary School, Sister Monicas Health center, the massai market and much more. You can always do a "walking safari" in Mto wa Mbu and you'll come to banana plantations, cooperative painting, woodcarving etc.
In 2006 I stayed here for the first time and still I’m coming back, whether it’s for work or for leisure. This was the first time coming with my family and we loved it. You think you can’t expect much for the rate offered, but the rooms are clean, have a great hot shower, a good mosquito net and enough space. There is a swimming pool and a lot of green in the garden. And then…there was breakfast! A big pile of freshly cut fruits and a big plate with pancakes, eggs, croissant, potAtoes and sausages. Lastly, it’s in the middle of town, but quiet and green, so you can easily experience local life!

This was our first time with the Africa safari camp and lodges at Mtu wa Mbu. We were pleasantly surprised. The property is in perfect state even though it must have suffered from the flooding of lake Manyara a year ago and the drop in tourism because of the covid 19. This is a well kept, clean and quite a beautiful property right on the shore of lake manyara. Resident animals like the zebras, wildebeest, hippos visit every evening. At night you could hear the hyenas too. The food is delicious and plenty. The service is excellent with very kind and attentive staff. Will definitely come back again and book your other properties especially in Lake Natron. Thank-you for enjoyable stay and goodluck!
