This island, with its fast and fickle tides, was a notorious prison during the French Revolution. Today, visitors arrive by choice, seeking to explore the 11th-century abbey, dine in fine restaurants and take in the impressive evening illuminations. Only a narrow causeway built in 1880 links the island to the mainland, although a bridge is due to be completed in 2012.

Our hotel is equipped with 100 spacious rooms. Located at the entry of the dike, 1800 meters of the Mont St Michel and of its Abbey of 11th century, the hotel features a gourmet restaurant with regional specialities, a bar and 6 conference rooms (100 people). Private and free carpark.
This modern Mercure is very close to the Mont and exceptionally convenient to the tram that takes you out to the town. The restaurant has good food and a hard-working staff. Make sure you keep the access code that the hotel will text you shortly before arrival. You'll need it to pass the barrier with your car into the close-hotel zone. The text is not self-explanatory...something the hotel could easily fix.

The day before we arrived we were sent a code to insert at the barrier to be able to reach the hotel. When you arrive in the area there are car parks as access to the Main Street is limited and only cars going to hotels or with passes can enter. We passed the general car parks and reached the barrier, inserted the code and drove to the hotel and parked in the car park there. The staff were very helpful and gave us information on how to reach Mont Saint Michel, bus times/ on foot etc, Our room and bathroom were spacious and clean. In the morning we had breakfast in the downstairs breakfast room with both savoury and sweet food available. We had a very pleasant stay and the hotel was convenient located not far from the barrier that stops traffic from using the raised road which allows access to the Mont even at high tide.

Ideally place in the center of the mont saint Michel we were disappointed by the restaurant with average food while we could have expect local “Agneau salé” or fresh fish. When you make your reservation ask for a room in the “annex” those are Indépendant room in the village more typical that in the hotel itself … WIFI will be poor but location worth it.

Overlooking the Mont Saint Michel, the 8th Marvel of the World, the Relais Saint Michel is a **** hotel, offering you a panoramic restaurant, terraces, flower gardens, a piano bar and spaces for relaxation.
I went to the restaurant with my father. We were seated by the big panoramic window. This was not really necessary as they have failed to wash and clean the big window, even though it has been nice weather for days. The interior in the restaurant is similar to a cafeteria or a cafe at a highway rest stop. We both ordered a beer to start and before we even got to drink it, our starter was served. There is no structure for the waiters, what so ever. They haven’t been taught and how to manage guests in a restaurant. They tried their best, but I feel sorry for them, that they haven’t had any training and no ‘boss’ or head waiter was around to help the poor staff. The food was horrible and could easily have been served in for-mentioned cafeteria or highway rest stop. When there is a restaurant in such an amazing spot with a fabulous view overseeing Mont saint Michel, you have an obligation to have a standard. I will not recommend this place ever. Eat somewhere else.

At the heart of Mont Saint Michel, facing the bay, historic homes, we offer a charming, individually decorated for an unforgettable stay in the Wonder of the West. Panoramic views of the bay or the Abbey or the medieval village or and flower gardens. Direct dial telephone, mini bar, flat screen TV.
I booked 1 night here bc it was well priced, great location, & I wanted a room to face out onto the bay. Upon arrival, check in was quick & easy. Our room was 2 flights of stairs up, so if you have mobility issues, this wouldn't be right for you since there are also steps up just to get into the lobby. The entire town would be difficult to navigate since there are no elevators. Our room was cozy, bed was comfortable, but the best was the view overlooking the bay & the cute street below. We had breakfast included which was in the restaurant on the ground floor. Adequate buffet & good service. Nice enough restaurant with a large wood burning fireplace. We went back later in the day for a couple espressos. The hotel held our bags when we checked out in the morning & didn't leave until later that afternoon. All in all a good experience.

In the only setting of its kind in the world, nestled in the middle of the medieval city of Mont Saint-Michel, La Mere Poulard offers you the charm and comfort of its hotel, the tradition and quality of its restaurant, the warmth and conviviality of its piano-bar: an unforgettable moment in this magical place full of history.
If this hotel were anywhere else I would have given it three stars simply because it is a bit worn; but it isn't in Paris its a hotel that is 135 years old!! it is charming, comfortable and very clean! We slept with the windows open and listened to the sounds of the sea and the gulls. The breakfast was very good with a lot of fresh fruits, cheeses and breads etc. I travel a lot and this was worth every penny! Most tourists leave at night and the streets empty out. We had a wonderful meal with copious amounts of cider and just reveled in the fact that we were there. The location is excellent. Hands down a must if you can manage at least one night on the island. The history in this hotel and on the island is amazing. Do your research and reading before you arrive so you know what you are seeing and experiencing before you get there! There are few places to read about such things and most books to be found nearby are in French! BE PREPARED to carry your luggage up several winding steps! Pack light if you can manage it. There is no elevator and the staff won't carry your bags for you! :) Make dinner reservations at the La Mère Poulard restaurant if you must... but do well before you arrive! The omelet is very expensive but, after all it’s famous for a reason and Michelin still recognizes the restaurant for excellence. While we were there a young man was being trained how to make the famous wood fire omelette. Wish the restaurant would give seating priority to those staying on the property. BE PREPARED to walk a LOT of steps! It really is worth doing some cardio well before before you arrive. I hated seeing so many people unable to go up the steps to the top. If you are Catholic you may want to attend mass, and I highly recommend it trying to catch vespers...lovely.

If you're visiting Mont. St.Michel, stay on the island. As many others have said, the crowds melt away after dark and you can explore the back alleys and streets unencumbered in the evening and morning. This hotel is quite nice, comfortable and reasonable when we stayed in march. We had a view of the bay. Friendly, helpful staff made our stay memorable. highly recommend.

The Hôtel Gabriel has 45 comfortable rooms with shower and W.C.. Twin beds, doubles, triples, or family rooms for 4 or 5: alone, with friends, as a couple, or a family, each guest will find the room he or she would like for the stay at Mont Saint-Michel.
We booked a room for our family vacation in June. My husband accidentally booked the date we needed for July instead of June when we are scheduled to be there. We contacted the property (via Hotels.com) to request a change in dates. The hotel has refused to change our booking date even though we are more than 2 months out from the date we are requesting and there are rooms currently available for our requested date. Absolutely poor customer service! Buyer be ware to triple check your date before you book or you will be out the amount of your stay even if you realize this more than 2 months in advance!

The place mont at Michelle is amazing romantic and just lovely been here a few times but decided to stay this time for a few days Staying at le mouton blanc. I stay away with my job a lot and most of the hotels are 5 star the rooms here are clean and housekeeping is Realy good however there is no iron in the rooms kettle tea bars or coffee which I find for the price a slight let down for the price of the rooms. The room I had had a window with not much of a view which I cat Realy complain as it is a castle we are staying in with limited space. The room was comfy beds were clean and overall a fab stay

Our hotel is Tastefully decorated in a classic style, the hotel's bedrooms have all that is necessary for a short stay or undisturbed holidays at the foot of Mont Saint-Michel. Most of the rooms have a balcony with a view of Mont Saint-Michel and the River Couesnon. There are duvets and soft pillows for refined comfort. The hotel has rooms for 2 and 3 guests, and one for a family.Facilities :Non smoking roomsfree wifi accessFlat screen satellite television
We planned to stay here but never made it due to coronavirus. Hotel management was very kind and considerate about our need to cancel at the last minute - the day we were to arrive. I am sure this attitude reflects the overall quality of the hotel. We hope to visit in the future.
