10 hotels in Martha's Vineyard: Best hotel deals for 2023

June 23, 2022 Viva Honore

Yes, getting there is a bit of a project. But vacationers have been braving the ferry for years, and this tiny island off Cape Cod remains one of the most popular and picturesque destinations in New England. Among the island's towns, you're sure to find the Vineyard that's right for you. With stately Greek revival houses dating back to the whaling era of the early 19th century, Edgartown is a seaside village of boutique shopping and pristine harbor views. For more of a "beach town" feel, Oak Bluffs has the Flying Horses carousel, an arcade and an easy walk to the beach, plus the history and charm of the "gingerbread" houses in the Methodist campgrounds. Vineyard Haven offers visitors a blend of both. For a real retreat, Chilmark/Aquinnah is the place to get away from it all. In the off-season, the island is quieter and far less crowded, but the shore is always beautiful. Whenever you visit, leave your car behind! Cabs are plentiful and greet the incoming ferries to help you reach your destination. Most visitors prefer to explore the island on a bicycle, scooter or tourist-friendly public buses.

Really Enjoyed this Hotel

Reviewed By Eric G

We thoroughly enjoyed a two night stay at the Mansion House. We arrived early, after walking 5 minutes from the ferry, and were happily surprised to hear that our room was ready. You get a walk-to-everything, in-town location. Our top floor king room was attractive, spacious, clean, functional and comfortable. Best of all it offered a view of the harbor. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are extra’s here including a parking pass if you bring a car and a very well equipped health club/spa which is also open to the community (far superior than what you'd expect in a small hotel). A really nice (spectacular in good weather) rooftop deck, open to all guests, features complimentary lemonade, many seating arrangements and a 360 degree view. Mansion House provides a complimentary continental breakfast, perfectly adequate though (here comes a small nitpick) nothing special or quite up to the level of other similar hotels. That said we really liked the Mansion House and would recommend it highly.

Updated and Clean but Loud

Stayed here for 4 days and absolutely loved the staff they were all awesome. The hotel is extremely modern compared to nearby options which was definitely a plus. Was disappointed by a few things during our stay here. Our room wasn't ready but luckily they offered us a huge locker so that we could explore the island then come back in and check in later. Cons - The walls are extremely thin walked into the bathroom at 1am and heard an entire conversation from next door. Also the guest upstairs must have had kids because it sounded like the ceiling was going to fall onto us EXTREMELY LOUD. It was kind of ridiculous to be honest I know there isn't any carpet in the rooms but they need some type of sound barrier. - Bathroom is small for my big beautiful people the shower will be a tight squeeze it was for me - There was no soap in our room for the entire stay. And the housekeepers did a poor job of cleaning our room everyday the floor wasn't vacuumed and 2 nights in a row they made our beds but didn't change the sheets and I felt sand all over the sheets. They could have at least shook them. - Our mini fridge didn't actually keep our stuff cold which was fine but disappointed that the rooms didn't have a microwave and there wasn't one downstairs in the "Canteen" area either. They offered hot water if you buy a cup of noodles ........ Overall it was nice just not what I expected. If housekeeping cleaned the rooms a little better and there was a working fridge and microwave even with all the noise it would easily be a 10/10.

We scheduled a long weekend getaway with family at the start of summer. We could not have been more pleased with our accommodations at the Surf-Side in Oak Bluffs. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our rooms were very clean and well maintained. The rooms and beds were very comfortable. The grounds were lovely with beautiful gardens and a lovely patio. The location was ideal, a short walk from the ferry and close to restaurants, shops, a beautiful park, and right across from the ocean. Our family plans to make this trip an annual tradition, and we will book our stay at the Surf-Side for sure!

The Richard

Quaint, Quiet yet close to everything!

Reviewed By djveloz

I arrived very late due to travel delays. The staff was very responsive during this time. I had not eaten since arriving to the airport in Texas at 4am. And with all the delays and re-routing, I knew I would arrive famished! The staff waited an extra 30 mins for me, as I was arriving by ferry around their closing time. When I got to my room there were small snacks to tide me over if I hadn't been able to get dinner. So sweet and soooo good! I had a large room with a king size bed, sitting area, beverage/snack center, and spacious bathroom. The bed and linens were very very comfortable, and the bath products were perfect! It was a short 3 min walk down main street to all the shops & restaurants. Lots of traffic on main and the peace and tranquility of The Richard was not disturbed. There are rocking chairs on the front porch to sit and watch the visitors drive and walk by. Morning and mid-day, there is a small continental breakfast offering and snacks mid-day. They do not have a liquor license, unfortunately, so bring your own wine if you would like to pair it with the mid-day snacks. The staff was very responsive, helpful, and soooo nice! The entrance to the hotel is to the side of the house. There is parking behind the house for your vehicles. When I return in the fall I will stay here again!

Initially they put us into the top floor room and it was so small and angled attic angled ceilings that i could not stand unless in center of room (basically at the foot of the bed or door) - i'm 6'2" so not a giant. We complained and then then moved us to the middle floor where the room had normal ceilings. The furniture was very beat up, but shower temp and water pressure was good. They have a more renovated side of the hotel but they did not put us there even though they did not appeared to be booked up at all - it was very early season an covid impacted. Also, you have to pay for parking like 40$ per night FYI.
